Great little love story; grab the Kleenex box!

What a wonderful story about the true life journey of two young lovers! Great information about the war and the real thoughts and feelings from a family that lived through it. I loved seeing the pictures, both from the family and from the war. I really enjoyed seeing the events in the war and how it affected the family. A clear and concise film that had relative information and true emotion. It is so sad that so many lives were lost to a war that is rarely mentioned. What a travesty! Can't wait to see the next piece by this future filmmaker. I see great potential in Matthew! It is great to see someone with such a passion for his craft. He is a wonderful role model for youngsters with a message.

A love story during war times.
kathy-651-1638152 February 2010
Thank you Matthew Evan's for making a wonderful heartwarming film.It made me laugh,it made me cry,but most of all it made me think about what loss war brings to families. The fears and emotions were real.I felt the love they had and have for each other have kept them going all these years. There was the part that made me laugh, when Lou received letter after letter until he had received them all, and how everyone called him a mail hog. The part that made me cry was when Jeanne talked about Lou getting on the train, when she was 6 months pregnant not knowing if she would see Lou again. It was wonderful to see they made their 60th Anniversary. This is truly happy ever after.

Great film everyone should see this!

This is a great film about an amazing couple and their challenges while being separated during the Korean War. I think this film would be great for anyone who wants to know more about the Korean war, and what happens to families during times of war. It has some really good information in it, and also has some exciting and dramatic moments.

I love the fact that it was made by a thirteen year old filmmaker. It's obvious that he has a great deal of love and respect for the Silvas, and knows how to capture their best moments on film. The special effects are really well done, especially in the beginning when a 1950's movie newsreel is simulated, and during the battle sequences.

I have a much greater understanding of what families are going through during our current war, and a much greater appreciation for the men and women who are risking their lives every day.

Great film about great people!

I found this movie really informative. The Korean War is never talked about in high school. It was really cool to see another kid my age make a film like this.

It was really well done and I thought all facts it had were really interesting. I really feel bad for anyone who has to go through something like that. The people in the movie were really cool and seemed really comfortable talking about such a hard experience.

At the end I learned a lot and was really interested in learning more about the Korean War. I hope to see more of stuff like this!! Can't wait to see more from this filmmaker.

Great Job, a future film maker
jls19311 February 2010
I enjoyed this film very much. Matthew Evans did a marvelous job on this film. The film shows much effort and research was done.I learned things I never knew about the Koreans War. What countries in the United Nations that participated. Information on the Korean Memorial which I knew little about. I think it is sad that so little has been written about this war. You hear about WW2 and Viet Nam but the Korean War is usually overlooked. Yet 58,000 men and women lost their lives and over 8,000 MIA were never recovered. There is a great deal of similarities in what is taking place today with people being in the National Guard and being called up to serve.Families who's love ones are going off to war not knowing whether they will return again.Like the wife in this film she was young had never been alone. She was 6 month pregnant frightened. This film showed real emotion on how the wife felt even after all those years. It took her back to that time that was so difficult and she could understand how families felt that were going thru similar situations today. She also mentioned how people were not concerned about the war although the newspapers showed that they were printing news about what was going on. A lot like today if you don't have someone in the services you don't think too much about it but the wife had to live with this each day as many families are doing today. I think this young film maker did a fantastic job and I hope he follows his passion.

Excellent video

What a wonderful video by such a young man. Reminder of past war and what a family goes through. Very heartfelt feelings expressed so we can understand the times. Highlights of the history were very informative to update memories of that era. Great job, Matthew! The family pictures were a wonderful addition to personalize the story.

My husband was in the Navy at that time, before I met him. He did not see the action that the Army did. It is probably why many consider it the forgotten war. World War II, had intervention by many of all services participating. This video is a great documentary of that war involving such losses to the United States of our men and women.

Beautiful Story
sassybeachangel8 February 2010
Enjoyed this film very much as I have known this couple for many, many years. This couple has so much love for each other and their family. The many things that Jeanne and Lou went through I did not know. They were so very young. I know that Lou loved his country and went to war so we at home could be safe. The film brought tears to my eyes and the photos were amazing. I am so glad the higher power brought Lou back to his family. Something else that is amazing to me is they just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.

Matthew Evans did a great job and has a great gift. Keep up the good work Matthew, you have a lot more things to accomplish.

An Inspirational film by an inspirational young film maker
Sharon-652-5996833 February 2010
I totally enjoyed this film...it covered a great deal of important information in a short time frame. The ability of this 13 year old to make a beautifully produced film is so cool. Although I had a brother who served in the Korean War, I never really knew the heartache and sacrifices that were made. The story of Lou and Jeanne, their love affair and the trials they went through pointed out to me how difficult war is on families, not to mention our brave service men and women. I was particularly touched by the love they shared, by their commitment to each other. It is interesting that the making of this film helped Jeanne learn more about Lou's experiences since it was something he didn't share much after his tour of duty was over. This film points out how devastating war is. I was really moved by Lou's statement that although he didn't always understand why he was fighting, it was his duty to follow his orders and he knew he was a good soldier! Our men are fighting and dying as I write this...I now have a greater understanding of war...and of love! This is a movie that should be seen by everyone. I believe Matthew has a great future in film making..this is a quality production on all levels! Congratulations, Matthew!

A loving and well made film
sloperk4 February 2010
I believe Matthew is an exceptional film maker. I found this documentary to be a loving and well made film. From my perspective, Matthew's insight into the emotional impact of war far exceeds that of the typical 13 year old. I particularly liked Matthew's use of old newspaper photos and family pictures. Although I had friends serving in Korea at that time, I really had no idea about the issues involved and didn't pay much attention to what was happening there. So, I learned a lot about the war, from this film, particularly in regard to the United Nations' involvement and the impact upon the soldiers and their families. I am hopeful many young people will view this documentary and take to heart it's message about the physical and emotional devastation war can cause.

Good Work!
Annebellinski3 February 2010
Young Matthew has a rare gift. The film was clear, concise, intelligently presented and held my attention by sharing the emotional side of the story. The couple who endured separation during the Korean conflict could very well be any couple in any war throughout the ages. In today's worldwide conflicts, there are many couples who are separated physically. Even though they have the benefit of the internet, email, web cam, and cell phones, still there is separation. That is why I believe in Matthew's project as he clearly included the heartache of loneliness and and the trauma of fear along with the general feeling of being separated from a loved one.
