Just in time to showcase the film's presence at Cannes, Lightning Entertainment has unveiled the sales art for the Chupacabra flick Indigenous. It's heavy on atmosphere but a bit light on goat sucker. Now there's something you don't hear everyday, huh?
From the Press Release
As demand for commercial horror/thriller fare continues to rise in the global marketplace, Lightning Entertainment has bolstered its offerings in the space, acquiring international sales rights to two highly sought-after titles, “Indigenous” and “Dark House,” which will debut in Cannes. The announcement was made today by Lightning Entertainment’s Evp & General Manager Ken DuBow.
“It is clear that movies in the horror/thriller genre continue to elicit the most enthusiasm among movie going audiences worldwide and it’s our job to help meet the needs of distributors looking to build a pipeline of strong commercial offerings,” said Lightning sales and acquisitions consultant Richard S. Guardian.

*Full disclosure: The Asylum provided a DVD copy of the film for review.
Director: Trey Stokes.
Writers: Paul Bales, and Herman Melville.
Moby Dick gets a remake in The Asylum's November 23rd release entitled 2010: Moby Dick. The picture dumbs down Herman Melville's original 19th Century written work and themes of good vs. evil, or social class are long forgotten. Instead, the predominant theme of revenge is one which only mildly satisfies. Even Barry Bostwick's melodramatic acting as Captain Ahab cannot save this sinking sub, which is cheaply made and dramatically written.
In case you have not read the original, Captain Ahab is wounded by a large mythical white whale, who now has an appetite for skimpily bikini clad women and stationary oil rigs (modern version). Ahab makes it his life's mission to save the Us Navy from the rampagings of this 500 foot beast, to no avail.

Airline Disaster DVD ArtDirected by: John J. Willis III.
Writter: Paul Sinor and Victoria Dadi.
Airline Disaster is one of The Asylum's latest releases and this production company is mostly known for its campier versions of Transformers or the Terminator (Transmorphers and The Terminators). They also have several sexier films. However, The Asylum leaves the camp behind in Airline Disaster and some of the sexiness with Lindsey McKeon only getting minimal scenes. Simply put, this film is an action packed ride through a terrorist ordeal with the camp of previous films replaced by some cheesiness in CGI effects and tense drama.
In short, several Neo-Nazi hijackers take over the Starquest, a state of the art, automatically flown airplane. These terrorists want ten of their friends released from the New Jersey State Penitentiary, or else the plane's captain and brother of the the President of the United States is going to be murdered.

Last week's disc-covery proved that all you need are some clever ideas and and a bunch of passionate, talented craftsman to make a straight-to-dvd movie that's worth watching.
This is not last week.
"Airline Disaster"
Directed by John J. Willis III
Tweetable Plot Synopsis: A high-tech airplane on its maiden voyage gets hijacked with remarkable ease by white supremacist terrorists. (Supremorists? Suprerrorists?)
Salable Elements: Absolutely none that I can think of, which is weird. Usually movies that are on the low-end of the Dtv world like "Airline Disaster" have some kind of immediate hook connected to a current Hollywood hit -- a la "Transmorphers" instead of "Transformers" -- or a couple name actors with built-in brand appeal. "Airline Disaster"'s got neither. It doesn't even have an eye-catching title. "Airline Disaster"? It sounds like something by Friedberg and Seltzer, and their films are titled that way as jokes.
Plus the title's not even accurate!
