- MacPherson escapes with what he took from the warehouse's bronze sector, and a car crash puts Mrs. Frederic in the hospital. Meanwhile Pete and Myka head London to gather clues about MacPherson's plan.
- "Warehouse 13" - "Time Will Tell" - July 6, 2010
We pick up right where we left off with Artie seemingly incinerated in the umbilicus as MacPherson hot foots it out of the Warehouse.
Myka and Pete quickly discover that amid the destruction that Artie is A-OK as he rematerializes in front of them thanks to the Phoenix he had stashed in his pocket. Artie is amazed at how it works. They all quickly realize, however, that if he's alive then someone must die. Pete starts to choke but it's just the dust and the smoke of the fire. We cut to Mrs. Frederic racing back to the Warehouse. Her driver is the unlucky soul and he starts to choke and eats. Luckily, Mrs. Frederic was able to throw herself from the car before the fiery crash. She's comatose but she's alive.
This is unbeknownst to MacPherson who survives the fiery scene from a distant hill that is a backdoor to the Warehouse. Leena emerges with a hooded figure that she debronzed moments after MacPherson was debronzed. MacPherson tells he to await instruction and takes off.
All signs point to Claudia being the double agent, all signs being the video that Leena shows of Claudia in the Warehouse.
They discover that MacPherson "stole" H.G. Wells from the warehouse.
Artie takes off after Claudia to Cern, where she's going to reunite with her brother Joshua, who is working at an anti-matter lab facility. He tells Myka, Pete, and Leena to figure out what MacPherson wanted with Wells.
They skim through books and computer materials and discover Wells' London home museum was recently broken into. They figure MacPherson wanted something there but couldn't find it so he debronzed Wells to get it. Faster than you can say bad idea they're winging their way to the U.K.
At Wells' historic home they encounter a tour group and a logbook that has an "Edward Prendick" recently signed in, the protagonist of Wells' "Island of Dr. Moreau." After a false start by Pete trying to "unmask" the Wells impersonator entertaining the tour group they encounter Wells herself. That's right, Wells is a woman, Helena. (As a woman she wasn't taken seriously as an author so she gave her brother Charles her ideas and research and he wrote the books and was the public persona.) Pete was hitting on her and she turned on him. Able to subdue her they ask what she's hiding in the home that MacPherson wants so badly. After a series of hidden panels and keys are exposed they discover a metallic vest, which Pete ably describes as "steampunky." When they activate a switch in the wall it whisks them up and against the ceiling. It turns out the fictional metal "cavarite" that Wells wrote of is real and they are stuck to the ceiling because of it. Thanks to her magnetic boots, custom made, Wells is able to don the vest and escape.
Meanwhile Artie and Claudia collide in Cern. Or a wooden beam in Claudia's hand collides with Artie's head when she lashes out at the person following her. He tells her that he is inclined to believe she's not a double agent and if they team up, being smart people, maybe they can figure it out.
They get an update from Myka and Pete and with Claudia's computer savvy, Artie determines that the artifact that Wells is wearing is called "the imperceptor vest." It allows the wearer to move at speeds faster than the naked eye can see. He figures she needs it to get into the Escher vault at the warehouse. But it needs a specific power source that didn't exist when she invented it, but does now: anti-matter.
They go to Joshua's huge lab and, spying Harriet Tubman's thimble on the hand of the "doctor" escorting Joshua out of the anti-matter chamber, realize it's MacPherson and unmask him. MacPherson already has the goods though and he gives Joshua the heave-ho over a high railing and escapes during the kerfuffle.
Artie realizes with everyone in Europe that the warehouse is unprotected, only Leena is there.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Frederic has visions in her coma and abruptly wakes with a new understanding. She goes to Leena and asks if she's been having memory loss. Sheepishly, she admits she has. So Mrs. Frederic chokes her. It's a means to an end, not a homicide, however as the choking brings forth a small pearl from Leena's ear. Mrs. Frederic explains it's the pearl of wisdom and allows the person who implanted it to control the thoughts and actions of the implantee. This explains why we saw Leena morph from herself to Claudia to steal the Phoenix and the nutty deafening goblet and why she's been helping MacPherson.
The big bad himself is now at the Warehouse, wearing a protective necklace that keeps his acidic blood from activating. He and Wells put the anti-matter in the vest and it works as she speed around. He opens the way cool Escher vault - all moving staircases, walkways, and mechanisms- and she speeds around looking for whatever it is she came for.
The gang of four returns to the Warehouse but is thwarted at several turns by booby traps laid by MacPherson. Eventually Pete and Myka get to him. Using the Tubman thimble Myka morphs into Wells and tricks MacPherson into thinking they're all set and, just for fun, comes on to him pushing his hands behind his back, where Pete cuffs him. MacPherson immediately turns on Wells and says he knows her plans and will tell them everything. Claudia and Artie arrive in time to hear this but so does Wells who is disappointed at how quickly MacPherson caved. She snaps his necklace and speeds off. As MacPherson is turning to ash in front of them he tells Artie he slipped him the Phoenix in the umbilicus because he wanted him to see that nothing happens when you die, that it's all dark and empty. But Artie says when he was incinerated he saw light and felt hope. MacPherson is crushed realizing his efforts were for naught. He apologizes and crumbles to ash.
At the B&B Artie explains that H.G. Wells on the loose is indeed dangerous. Claudia and Leena argue about what happened with Leena saying she didn't do it on purpose and she was a victim too. Claudia disagrees calling it the worst case of identity theft ever. Artie gives her the original Philo Farnsworth as a gift and she's thrilled. Pete is jealous.
Artie and Mrs. Frederic don special glasses and go into the Escher vault. There they discover Wells stole a pendant, a locket, and a compact. They're not sure why, they just know they must be important. We cut to a coffee shop where Wells is drawing something elaborate on a piece of paper. A fellow patron asks what she's working on and she says "something I've been thinking about a long time."
