An excellent second episode, so much happening.

Robin decides to take matters into her own hands, learning an important piece of evidence, but placing herself in real danger.

It's like peeling an onion, with every episode, almost with every scene, something new and important is revealed, characters that initially looked like mere window dressing are now central to events, it's so clever.

So many strands, we have Cormoran dealing with Joan's physical demise, we have Robin's mission, and we have the interesting new dynamic at the office, new faces, one being the wonderful Pat.

I wonder what part Roy Phipps will play, Michael Byrne was terrific the small time he was in it.

I thought Irene and Janice were a hilarious duo, I can't think where humour has been used on Strike before, but it worked here, the breaking wind was funny.

Engrossing drama, 8/10.

What's wrong with this picture?

Although he seems to wear the same apparel, Strike's beard is now neatly trimmed. He appears to be more handsome.

Meanwhile, Robin continues to tempt fate, initiating her own investigations without consulting with Strike. For a person with her limited experience, that behavior is truly unforgivable. Although she is not pompous, she IS arrogant when you consider how many times she has nearly died during the course of this series.

Although Robin is comely, I find that character particularly difficult to empathize with. She was more fun in the beginning episodes when she had a sense of respect towards Strike and a healthy respect for following the rules of procedure.

In this episode, Robin could have bitten the bullet when she went into the nursing home without backup. The more times Robin miraculously escapes punishment, the harder it becomes to suspend disbelief. NO ONE is as lucky as the writers would have us believe Robin is.

Overall, the story this season is great. Apparently, the writers learned from last season and have realized filling in the backstory is important for the audience to fully understand the characters and comprehend the overall plot.

But watching "Miracle Robin" has become trying. When Strike makes a stupid mistake he usually pays a price. Whereas, Robin usually doesn't. What's wrong with this picture?

Troubled Blood: Part 2

The fate of Dr Margot Bamborough could rest with Gloria Conti. Her story is that of her involvement with the Ricci crime family back in the 1970s.

Margot helped Gloria to leave her violent boyfriend Luca Ricci. She also help Gloria get an abortion.

Eventually Glori did disappear for many years. Now she has returned to tell Cormoran Strike and Robin her side of the story.

This episode moves away from serial killer Dennis Creed for now.

The focus moves into the Ricci's, past and present. They are not people to be messed about with. Robin is told that her pluckiness will count for nothing with them.

Robin using her disguise comes across an older Luca Ricci in the present day as she infiltrates a nursing home. He looks dangerous.

Normally the Strike crime dramas are two episodes long. Here we are only half way through due to the size of the source material.

The flashback scenes work well with the retro style opening credits that Strike always had.
