Interesting premise but...

I found this in a search for popular fictional podcasts and thought it sounded really interesting. It wasn't quite what I expected, but it definitely kept me interested I'll go over the good and bad aspects of the story, without trying to give anything away.

First the good. The story a really good premise. It's got some mystery and some supernatural aspects to it as well. It has some suspenseful moments without being at all scary. The main character, Carley, has a pleasant voice and does a nice job of acting. The support cast is also good.

Now the bad. And by bad, I don't mean Bad, just could be better. If you go into this with the idea that there's a definitive set of rules for the game, or a desire to know what the prize for winning is (or even HOW to win) you're going to be disappointed. You have to have an open mind and realize that the game isn't like any other type of game you, or anyone else, are used to playing. There's also a lot of quantum physics and theoretical physics they try to explain, but the majority of listeners aren't going to have a clue what they're talking about. The good news is that you don't need a working knowledge of either subject to follow the story or enjoy it, but it does sometimes bog the flow. And there's a stretch where the dialog is more of a commercial for the other podcasts from the same writer, as well as a book.

Personally, although I enjoyed the first season, I personally enjoyed the second season the most. It might be because by then I had a knowledge of how the story worked, and I didn't get too involved waiting for the game to be fully explained.

I do wish that aspects of the story were fleshed out or given more than just a cursory explanation, but it's definitely worth a listen.
