- Brenda tries to prove that a man from one of Det. Flynn's old convictions hired a man from prison to have him killed, and bribed a witness to recant her testimony to have his appeal granted.
- Lt. Flynn is attacked in a parking lot after his AA meeting, and his attacker, Bob Harris, is clearly intent on killing him. Flynn manages to shoot him twice and he is found dead a short distance away. The police also find a large amount of money in his possession, leading them to believe that he had been hired to kill Flynn. The money is also identified as being part of $400,000 in marked FBI funds that disappeared when an informant vanished many years before. They look through Flynn's old cases and settle upon Rick Zuman, a murderer and drug dealer who seems most likely behind the murder attempt. He's a cool customer, and it will take all of Brenda's skill to get a confession out of him.—garykmcd
- Following his regular AA meeting, Lt. Flynn survives a blitz attack in the parking lot. With the dead assailant seeming dead set on killing him, Capt. Raydor makes sure the matter stays under Brenda's control as Major Crimes looks into Flynn's past for an explanation. One name pops up: Rick Zuman, a drug dealer/murderer fifteen years on Death Row mounting an appeal based on a witness recanting her testimony and a charge of professional misconduct laid against Lt. Flynn. Rick also raises Fritz' interest in connection to a long-missing FBI informant who dealt with Rick and disappeared along with $400,000 in marked cash - some of which turns up in the possessions of both Flynn's assailant and the tampered witness.—statmanjeff
