The song that plays over the closing credits is Mayonnaise by the Smashing Pumpkins, which includes the line "Run away with me tomorrow, June". The word "June" in the song coincides with the appearance of "Guest starring Remy Holt as June" in the credits.
The episode starts with crows talking to each other, before interfering in the plot. They have been referred to several times before on the series:
- in episode one, Danny says crows live him after hearing crow noises, while he's climbing the tree;
- in episode two, Amy threatens a crow with a gun;
- in episode five, Bobby talks about a study in which people wearing Dick Cheney masks would be mean to crows;
- in episode six, Isaac tells a story of young Danny nursing a crow back to health.
The title of the episode comes from C.G. Jung's "Alchemical Studies, Volume 13": "One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious."
