Damian Westlake, Castle's boarding school protector and mentor, who helped him aspire to writing, is the obvious suspect when his rich wife is killed in their house. Castle gets temporarily sidelined when Becket feels his friendship with Damian is clouding his judgment. However, she may have to admit that Damian, in spite of evidence of infidelity and financial problems, may well be innocent. Castle, however, is forced to attempt proving Damian didn't kill his father, whose suspicious fatal robbery was never solved.
