- Grayson encourages Jules to start a neighborhood watch so that she will stop smothering him with Travis gone. Meanwhile, Travis tries to redefine himself in college, and Ellie has problems with her friendly new nanny.
- As Jules adjusts to living on her own, Grayson unwillingly becomes the new object of her constant attention; Travis turns to Bobby for advice on how to redefine himself at college; and Ellie is determined not to be friends with her new nanny.—ABC Publicity
- Jules (Courteney Cox) is having difficulty sleeping in the house by herself with Travis (Dan Byrd) gone. And Andy (Ian Gomez) doesn't think she can hurt anybody defending herself with a spoon...actually, you can. As the large red welt on Andy's head demonstrates. Jules is definitely doing much better than Travis, who is proceeding to drive his roommate more nuts in the first week with his geekiness than all four of my college roommates combined. (I was the biggest idiot on the planet back then, although I've worked my way down to fourth-biggest now...maybe even fifth.) Grayson (Josh Hopkins) is playing it cool, not even realizing Jules' solution for being less clingy with Travis is being more clingy with him. Grayson thinks he can just turn her down.
JULES: Those jeans suck! It's like you forget to put your ass on this morning?
Grayson is in hell, especially when she puts him in tight jeans, but at least he didn't look like Bobby (Brian Van Holt) did back in the 80's when he rocked the half t-shirt, denim shorts look, complete with full mullet. (The picture of that ALONE makes this episode worth it.) And Travis refuses to talk to Bobby until he takes that outfit off. Andy can stay with him and hide his welt because Ellie (Christa Miller) and Andy got a new nanny. This one is a huge improvement, as she doesn't call Child Services on them. But she's very friendly, and Ellie has to put up with talking to her since she's so good for the baby.
Grayson is not happy with the changes going on. Jules is making him wear glasses and wants to be the drummer for his band, in spite of him not having one or desiring it. But he has a plan. A quick mention of a few missing DVD's and it's Neighborhood Watch Meeting Night. Jules is serious about defending the cul-de-sac, and it's time to Take Back the Sac. (Right after they come up with a new slogan.) Andy can't stay long because Bobby texts him from Travis' college, where they're playing Ultimate Frisbee, and everybody wants to give up on walking the neighborhood with their glow sticks. But Grayson doesn't want a goatee made of Jules' hair on him, so he decides to turn Neighborhood Watch into Drunk Watch the Neighbors. Jules got a box of wine from Tom's family vineyard, which turned out to be Tom in his garage stomping grapes. And Rick and Steve aren't really brothers. And Jack Schultz opened a beer during his Intervention. And the neighbors who spotted Jules and Grayson spying on them thought it was just teenagers.
And it turns out Ellie's nanny driving her crazy with being overly-friendly was Laurie's (Busy Philipps) revenge for stitching "fake" tags all over Laurie's fake label purse. While Bobby embarasses Travis further by rocking the half t-shirt look...and convincing his very overweight roommate to do the same...Grayson stops Jules from doing something about his Greek-ing eyebrows by telling her she need to concentrate on her kooky Neighborhood Watch. Suddenly she realizes he was trying to deflect her attention and tosses him out of the bedroom.
Grayson comes back the next day (in tight jeans) to apologize, but she's still ticked at him. She lays the anger on him for thinking she's crazy her son left for college the previous day, but at least she'll be reunited with him soon. Bobby and Andy refuse to leave his dorm room. She arrives...and also refuses to leave the dorm room. Although Travis' roommate has a newfound respect for him and his hot mom. Ellie and Laurie confront Grayson on refusing to be involved in Jules' craziness. They want him to make a commitment to the crazy. He retrieves Jules from Travis' college and tells her he can sympathize, since his wife left him. He makes a little present for her: a jam room for playing the drums out of Travis' bedroom. (Actually, Courteney can play the drums.) The gang has a little Foghat jam to end the show.
