This is basically "Tik Tok" the show, the dances are lame, the judges are the most basic and the whole series doesnt have anything going for it. Wouldn't recommend.

"Tik Tok" The Series

Poor man's World of Dance

Honestly love Shakira and Nick Jonas but this show.... yeah its not good, the whole concept is new but it feels very much after a rehash of the JLo show World of Dance which was produced and directed a lot better. That series had an actual clear competition based concept that worked better for these types of shows.
Cant believe the choices are people blind to dancing?

I've been performance dancing in combination modern dance all my life I'm 61 years old, & I think the pickings are wrong in S 1, ep. 1, totally crazy! Caitlin and Marcus were the best dancers they should've never been eliminated I know that the big model was okay & give him credit for his energy but I don't understand how they could pick the big bouncy machine over precise cutting dancers like Marcus and Caitlin that was unbelievable totally unbelievable. However I am glad that there's a show like this to promote dancers for their future.
NBC Hits a new low with "Dancing With Myself"
slay-374331 June 2022
NBC has been struggling to find the next America's Got Talent for awhile now. They've tried their hand at reality based television aside from the scripted stuff they usually put out but aside from World Of Dance (The Ne-Yo/Jennifer Lopez show) that lasted for 4 Seasons have yet to get something good.
Dancing With Myself is a failed attempt at re-creating what the former did so well which was be intriguing. The judges themselves are pretty poor, there is a lack of cohesiveness in the editing and the approach of the entire show feels off.
Definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone trying to watch a competition show worth getting invested in.

Painfully unfunny and unoriginal.

My Daughter loves Shakira so we tuned in.... yeah its not at all a good show, we tried to get into it but it was just so corny and felt scripted, the banter between the judges feels forced. It would have been better were they actually bad dancers so we could at least get a laugh out but i wont be watching again.
Bad format, no chemistry between the judges
dphphuong1 June 2022
I can't believe someone pitched the idea for this show in a room full of executives and they all thought it's a great idea. This show was doomed from the start. It's so boring, and if only the judges had more chemistry together... They all looked like they're over each other and just there for a paycheck. I love Nick Jonas and Shakira as musicians and I understand they need famous faces to draw in viewers, but not everyone has a personality for TV and they should've done a chemistry test between potential judges. I know their fans will not like to hear it but they are not a good fit. Hell, if this show can even make it to season 2, please change the entire format. And just get Vanessa Hudgens to replace Shakira, she has a fantastic personality that draws in viewers and bring Derek Hough back no matter what cost.
Shakira what is this??
elhammo-234742 June 2022
I love Shakira, but this show is not it. It's the most fast-paced, flashy, mind-numbing reality show I've ever seen. I get that they were trying something new with having a new winner every episode, but it just makes the entire thing feel rushed, and you never get the opportunity to emotionally connect or invest in anyone in particular, which ends up leaving you apathetic about the whole thing. The visuals are too much stimulus - too intense, jarring, and garish. The chemistry between the judges feels forced and the jokes feel scripted and unfunny. Also, to me the appeal of Shakira's dancing was always the authenticity, the free-flowing, almost improvisational style and the communication of emotion and/or sensuality. Unfortunately, her new tiktok-style dances seem devoid of any underlying concept or artistry. Just like...lame tiktok teen vibes.
Fun for all ages

The show is really unique in the sense of its design to fit everyone and not just professional dancers. Shakira is iconic, Liza is so funny, Nick lacks a bit, and the host is so pretty. The show is in 3 words fun, fun, fun. Just something new from other dance competitions.
Amazing!!!

Amazing show, really fun how watch :) Excited for next week 😍 Shakira along with the amazing Nick Jonas and Liza Koshi!!! What a team. Their smiles and partnerships are incredible and contagious! Really brings a smile to my face watching not only the contestants have fun but also the judging panel have a blast too. The show is a great addition to nbc :)
Has An Audience

I will tell you that this dance competition show is not one of the worst shows ever nor one of the best.
Twelve competitors try to survive six rounds of elimination, replicating brief routines, dancing with partners, interpreting music, etc. Each round is different. Winners are determined by the studio audience and three judges.
The perfect tv audience for this show is the person who teaches himself dance moves from youtube. Or the person who wants a new challenge that Dance Dance Revolution cannot offer. I can see them out there, dancing in their stocking feet in front of their tv's.
I am not describing myself. I just appreciate good dancing and the particular skills required to repeat a dance sequence just seen. That ability works well for contestants on other dance shows who have to follow the instructions of a choreographer.

Don't waste your time

Too many contestants, too little time. One needed more time to observe and appreciate each dancer. And frankly, most didn't seem that good. In addition, the judging came too fast and seemingly from no one in particular.
A fun and refreshing dynamic
abiraazhar1 June 2022
Unlike any other show, this one feels less "judgy", the dancers seem to having fun too, none of it seems forced or vigorously rehearsed. It's very relaxing to watch that, but Shakira is such a gifted dancer! This show is not for boring people at all, that's for sure!
Yet another show that will be swiftly canceled
sisasdtas2 June 2022
This show is so desperate, the ad's are suddenly everywhere i watched the first 15 minutes and omg the judges could not be any less genuine. The critics are not actual critics "You rock" "your a star" "you owned it" says Shakira the most faceless comments a judge can give. Nick Jonas at least has some charm but by far and long this show is a dud do not waste your time.
Good for background noise thats about it
celninemcgrws1 June 2022
I tried getting into it but just couldn't. There is no chemistry between the judges. Shakira is devoid of any fun or charm (she's no Jennifer Lopez) was actually looking forward to this because the trailers made it seem like it was going to be fun but dont waste your time.
Boring show!

Poor premise and boring show.
lovearaford8 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This show begins with a poor premise. First of all if the people watching at home have no say in the show, and instead it's just the in house audience every episode, then what is the point of showing us (people at home) the show? In other shows, people at home can vote for their favorites and help them move forward but not here. It would have been more interesting if it was something like American funniest home videos, where the dancers were dancing at home (live stream or whatever) and the in house audience votes on their favorites and the judges comment. Then it allows the audience to feel as part of the show where anyone can submit their videos and get to be part of the show. Plus the show can still keep the same format. It's just an idea, but it would fill the gap that is there with the viewer. Because the show is trying to mirror tik tok and be flashy but it's missing the point of tik tok or online content sharing, where anyone can get involved and be a part of.
Their attempt to understand this is them trying to get the viewer to copy the corny dance moves from the show and then they might show 5 seconds of people on tik tok doing it. But unlike many viral trends that naturally viral, it seems very forced and manufactured. Plus the moves are repetitive and aren't very good or interesting to get the viewer to do them. Nor is there any incentive to do so.
The fast pace of the show with a new winner and contestant each episode, makes it hard to connect or care about any of the dancers. It even makes it hard for them to showcase their talent to their full potential. There are some dancers who I noticed where pretty talented but they are sent home before you even know who they are or see their full talent. Not to mention the voting should also be transparent. Like are they voting based on Skills? Personality? Talent? Beauty?
I also find many of the 'celebrity led' dance moves really bad and extremely cringeworthy. The dances attempt to mirror the same cringe air controller dances you see on tik tok, which I find limits the show's potential and dancers potential. There are so many styles of dances out here which I would love to be able to see and for dancers to showcase but instead the show sticks to air controller hip hop dances.
The judges seem bored and like they are just there to collect a paycheck. They have no chemistry and their banter sounds forced and unoriginal. They don't provide any interesting of helpful criticism, that you are left wondering what even is their point on the show. I understand getting celebrities to try to draw in viewers but I would prefer to watch professional dancers and choreographers actually give their feedback and input. Rather than Shakira giving the most unoriginal commentary of "you owned it" etc. Every time.
Not to mention actually having professional choreographers and dancers, choreograph the dances (rather than some random famous so-called celebrity I haven't heard of) would help improve the unoriginal dances.
Another point poor choice on the show, is the music. Most of the music the dancers dance to is really bad, and you're left wondering why would anyone dance to this song. Don't get me wrong there are some songs they dance to that I like but the songs are just not songs to dance to. I think it's cool to challenge dancers to dance to music they are not used to but it doesn't work with this premise where most of the moves is a cringe attempt at corny tik tok dances.
Overall, the show is poorly created, repetitive and should focus on the contestants rather than the celebrities they have signed on and their poor attempt to mimic tik tok. Save your time and watch something else.

Dance?

It was supposed to be a fun show. But it's better to watch tiktok videos on my cell phone whenever I want. The panel of judges in most situations has nothing to say and they go out of their way to give a feeling that everything is going wonderfully well. But it's not. For those who take dancing seriously, they should look for another type of show.
Loved it!

Making no sense and boring

This is a stretch
mhottrax20 July 2022
I'll stretch my review and give it a charitable 1. The audience voting makes no sense and has become so predictable. Undeserving older contestants and kids get voted in and saved just for being there at the expense of far superior dancers. Stretched to a 1 because every once in a while there is a good dancer.
Yuck I tried to like it .....
maryann451026 July 2022
I tried to like it but ...boy did it suck !!! The 42 endless minutes ( we stream without commercials) it took to watch seemed like hours ... it drug on with one boring routine after another !!!!
Only turned on because I saw Shakira was on and she looked like she was checked out completely - Nick Jonas looked bored out of his mind - his expressions were too funny ... Don't waste 42 minutes if your life like I did people.

Not for me
cesear-8471516 July 2022
Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of "dancing with myself" if somebody's choreographing their moves and then they have to learn them? I don't think there's enough there to make it a TV show and they really need to get rid of Shakira.
What a mess...
