I would have given it a lower rating had it not had Reeves and Moss in it.

It's terrible. I am so disappointed in the story, and look of the movie. It looks like a made for TV movie. Some effects are so cheap, but besides the look, the script is awful for a "silver screen" follow up.

I have no doubt good man Keanu read the script and thought to himself, (are they serious? Ok, I'll do it if that's what they want, I'll give most of the money away to the creative team).

I am so disappointed that I wish I never watch it, it's so detached in style and story that, in a way it ruins the trilogy just knowing it exists.

Its like driving your dream car and getting disappointed
ilias-tsapsidis11 January 2022
There are certain movies that shape the movie industries for decades to come. The original Matrix from 1999 was so fresh and shocking that up to this date it is unbelievably good and even though the second and the third movies were not on par with the original one they were still very solid.

That said, anything that is based on the initial Matrix legacy will be so much more anticipated and expected by millions of fans, therefore the disappointment will be even worst if the movie fails to deliver.

And to my great disappointment this one failed to deliver. Even compared to a 22 year old original movie the cinematography and the atmosphere, in my personal opinion, are on a very mediocre level similar to that of low budget Asylum movies. The cast play is also something I would not want to see in anything related to Matrix.

I have no idea how they made our beloved Keanu to participate in this thing.

As I said, movies such a Matrix are benchmark for most of us, especially millennials, and when they fail, it hurts even more.

I hope they will stop making more sequels and prequels of Matrix as they have proven that they can only harm the legacy with this.

What's the point ?

Looked forward to this film. After watching it I ask why was this made. The script was as dated as the main characters, the fight scenes pointless and the finale predictably poor. Someone give me this time back.

Big disappointment!
gharrison639230 December 2021
So disappointed, there was so much potential and so many directions the story could have gone, but instead, they showed clips from previous movies and stuck with the played-out love story between Neo and Trinity. Very disappointed, and I would NOT recommend this movie.

Refreshing

The first Matrix blew my mind.

This Matrix is the icing on the cake.

I've meditated many times and what I've found is that our mind is very dangerous and beautiful.

I've witnessed people being hypnotized and were told that a cat scratched them, and sure as the sky is blue, a scratch appears on the forearm. Another time i saw a person convinced that he was lifting a balloon and in fact it was a 75 lbs kettle ball with a string. So if that's what our mind is capable of. Maybe this reality is but an illusion. Now back to the Matrix, it's not for everyone, unless you have an open mind. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.

They should've called this The Matrix Re-cap
nibirulicious31 December 2021
What an embarrassing sequel to a great Trilogy ( well , most of it was " great " in my eyes anyway ) The movie makes fun of itself as in they were trying to make a spoof of itself . Was this supposed to " funny " to us ? I just don't get it. Yeah , CGI was decent but who cares when the script and main characters we all grew to love , weren't there anymore. I almost found this movie to be confusing ( in a bad way ) Why couldn't they come up with a much better and interesting script ??? The only thing I'm glad about is that I didn't pay anything to see this " masterpiece " You can figure out how I did it ;)

The comments are exactly as they say in the matrix.
samimsalur-799151 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When we look at all the comments here, it is seen that the criticism of the consumption society mentioned in the movie is fully met. In this sense, it seems that the shock of the striking reality in the first movie has definitely hit the target at the point of how the capital order has taken over you in this movie. This fact is so shocking.

Disappointing
mark-a-stephens-900-9343528 December 2021
The Matrix is one of my favorite films ever. Firstly, because of what it said. It was a prescient, dystopian commentary about the world that seems to be increasingly hurdling towards us. Secondly, because of how it said it. So many elements felt ground-breaking, from the script, which was littered with many memorable lines, the cinematography, the memorable characters, etc.

This latest installment, unfortunately, falls way short of the Matrix legacy. You will be disappointed. Gone are the memorable lines and layered story telling. Indeed, the screen play felt like it was in shambles. Many elements just did not work for me or were just confusing. For example, whatever was going on with Agent Smith. I don't know if the story was just not well thought out or if key elements ended up on some cutting room floor.

Reeves and Moss just really never achieve the chemistry needed to pull off the premise and you were just constantly being reminded that their characters were shadows of their former selves. The incessant flashbacks also did not help. Whose idea was that? Less is more.

Finally, unlike the first film, where even the minor characters where memorable, most of the performances here were disjointed and forgettable. No wonder. It seemed to me like being one of Lana's favorite people she worked with in the past was the primary driver of casting versus if the actor actually fit the role. The movie felt more like a series of cameos than a serious attempt to tell a story. That statement, on second thought, may be unfair to those actors. I know many of these guys to be really excellent. Brian J Smith, Max Reimelt, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, to name a few. So, I guess I just don't have an explanation for why their performances felt so disjointed.

To be sure, on the other hand, some performances just really rose way above the limits of the material. Despite not having a lot to work with, Niel Patrick Harris' performance was definitely outstanding and a ray of light. Jonathan Groff also did a good job reprising the Agent Smith character. With a little more help from the script, he too would have been able to add a new dimension to the Matrix mythology.

I was very disappointed with the story and the appearance of the movie.
phittuan7 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was very disappointed with the story and the appearance of the movie. It looks like it was made for a TV movie. After reading it, ask why this is happening. The script is as outdated as the main character, the fighting scenes are meaningless, and the ending is terrible. Gone are the memorable lines and layered storytelling. Indeed, the script feels like a mess. Many elements do not work for me or are just confusing. For example, no matter what happened to Worker Smith. I don't know if this story was not well thought out, or if the key element finally appeared on the floor of a certain tailoring room. I'm so disappointed with the United States, don't make movies to make people sick!

Total rubbish
stackzconceptz1 January 2022
This is far from what I have was anticipating. The flashbacks were pointless and the story line seemed very lazy for a production that had a trilogy that was and still is timeless. The legacy should have been kept intact if the producers weren't able to come up with a better script.

Best out the 4 matrix
tobiedavid20 April 2022
Visually, acting, story is good... Bad reviews are because people can't sit and watch a movie anymore (all addicted to fast pace media).

I waited that it went on sale because of the bad reviews.

Why didn't I take the blue pill (=ignore this movie)
padji-8562419 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Lord almighty, God of all movies! Why did this happen! Such a cool franchise! I never sweared so much during a movie.

I wished I had ignored it by taking the blue pill.

Spoiler alert:

The story is weak and illogical, why is Agent Smith back, he was almost lethal to all AI 60 years ago and now he is still there?? The actor who is portraying him doesn't even try to play the character. No mannerism, he doesn't even try to talk like him, which was awesome in the old movies.

Neo made a video game of his life and is reduced to a "housekeeper" for the new Matrix? Together with Trinity but they have false names and appearances ... What? WHAT?

Even though it's science-fiction, the movie director should be able to take you with her and in another world and make you believe that this world somehow works. This wasn't the case at all in this one.

Hollywood is squeezing out every penny of a movie franchise even if it means to ruin it. What a shame!

I will try now to forget this greedy world and pretend that there was no Matrix movie this year. Give me that blue pill! I want to go back in the rabbit hole.

PLEASE.

PS: Where is the other Wachowski brother?

Purchased it on sale
tobiedavid20 April 2022
I waited that it was on sale because of the bad reviews. The movie is good (better than the other 3 matrix). But I deleted tic-toc a week ago so I'm able to slow down to Hollywood pace.

Painful to Watch
precool-3125920 March 2022
Turned off after one hour. The acting was tired. Story overly comp!icated. No Morphes or Agent Smith. Minimum 150 characters in review so I have to continue with how bad this movie is.
