- (This synopsis is for the feature. The short is taken from the opening pages of the feature script and introduces us to the leads and their plight.)
On opening night of Sean O'Shaun's off-off Broadway play about the Irish Potato Famine, Maddy, his love and leading lady, abandons the production for a chance to be on a popular soap opera in Los Angeles. Unfortunately for Maddy, her big break turns out to be a one-line walk-on.
Shortly later, an indie film that Sean was in years ago is finally released. It's a sugar-coated piece of drivel which critics hate, but which women and young girls love. Sean becomes a hugely desired star. He's offered the lead in a blockbuster thriller and moves to Beverly Hills where he quickly seduces his sexy, young, assistant, Youkie. When Sean reconnects with Maddy, Youkie feels used and vows revenge. She creates a You-Tube video that makes it look like Sean is running a satanic cult out of his mansion. Though the video is clearly fraudulent it goes viral. Producers, not wanting to take chances, fire Sean from the film and he is dropped by his agent.
Sean and Maddy return to New York and decide that instead of trying to be big Hollywood stars, it would be better to make a small, personal film about a man and woman searching for love. The man and woman move to Hollywood for fame and fortune, which eludes them, but they find something more meaningful: their love for each other. Entitled "A Hollywood Love Story," their story begins with an actress abandoning her boyfriend's play to be on a soap opera in LA. Thus, the movie we see is the movie they have created.
