- Douglas Fargo of Eureka's Global Dynamics is sent to Warehouse 13 to help update its aging computer system. This triggers a seemingly sentient computer virus that sends the Warehouse into lockdown and traps the team inside.
- When the Warehouse orders a computer upgrade from Global Dynamics, EUREKA's Fargo comes to handle the install. His computer tinkering accidentally unlocks a threat that's been lurking in the Warehouse computers for years, waiting to be unleashed. As the team scrambles to stay alive, they realize the only way to combat this terror is a secret from the Warehouse's past.—Anonymous
- Todd (Nolan Gerard Funk) and Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) make out, but she pauses to talk about how excited she is about the new computer they're getting at the "IRS" warehouse where she works. She says some nerd from Global Dynamics is coming.
In the warehouse, Douglas Fargo (Neil Grayston) tears apart Artie's system. Claudia comes in and they have a total mutual geek-out over technology.
After everything is installed, Fargo shuts down the old system and waits for the new one to kick in. All they get is a cursor on the screen. Then a robot scanner comes out of the floor, then another, then another. The system reports a catastrophic failure.
It says a fail safe activated when they shut down the old system. Artie (Saul Rubinek) recognizes the system voice as Hugo Miller's, the original designer of the warehouse system.
They go check out the super old computer lab. Artie says Hugo (Rene Auberjonois) retired. They find the fail safe but when Fargo hits a button he gets a jolt. The computer is downloading info from their mainframe.
Artie says there was some question about Hugo's mental state, but Myka (Joanne Kelly) and Pete (Eddie McClintock) go talk to him... in a sanatorium.
Myka notes every former warehouse agent they've ever known is either crazy, evil or dead.
They meet with Hugo, doodling and sharing random information about panda bears. Pete says something in computer speak, which gets Hugo's attention. He says he'll give them the code, but he must be paid in bicycles.
He lights up at the idea of the warehouse and mentions spinning and dancing. He would also like some ice cream.
He hugs Pete and lifts his Tesla gun, blasting both Pete and Myka.
In the warehouse, the Hugo computer finishes downloading and boosts up. A hologram of a younger Hugo pops up, announcing it has assumed control. Artie tries to reason with it.
The hologram says he needs to review decades of files.
Myka and Pete get Hugo's files and try to figure out where he might be. The spinning and dancing means something to Myka, who guesses where he is. They find him at a nearby carousel.
The Hugo hologram comes back after accessing everyone's files. He says Fargo's includes the phrase "inappropriately pushed button" 38 times.
He says he has determined the source of the catastrophic event: the agents who work there. The security doors slam down. Claudia gets a call from Todd, she tells Fargo it's nobody, which Todd hears. She tells Fargo that Todd is a "guy friend, nothing serious." Hugo Hologram cuts off the call.
He tells them he's initiating a protocol to protect the artifacts. Frigid air blasts in.
Myka looks through Hugo's file and finds a brain scan showed a whole portion of his brain suddenly went inactive years ago.
Artie grabs an artifact and starts speaking in gibberish. He hands stones to Claudia and Fargo, explaining they're from the tower of Babel and as long as they're holding them, the hologram can't understand. He thinks there's more than just a runaway computer at play.
Pete stops at a gas station so Hugo can use the bathroom. Myka calls Artie, but she can't understand him. Hugo understands it as babble. Myka tells Artie about Hugo's burned out brain.
Artie writes a note for them to see telling them to come back because the computer has taken over. Unfortunately Pete reads it aloud, and Hugo Hologram hears. As they're leaving the convenience store, Pete and Myka's faces appear on wanted posters on the news.
Artie sends Claudia looking for an artifact connected to mental telepathy.
The convenience store clerk follows Pete and Myka out with a gun.
Claudia tells Fargo that Todd is her boyfriend, but she can't talk to him about work. She says it'd be nice if she could have someone she could be honest with.
Claudia knocks a zoetrope off the shelf and when Fargo spins it, she sees his whole life flash before her eyes. But she recognizes the inventor name on the label, - Wertheimer. Hologram Hugo thinks they've committed unauthorized removal of an artifact and sends Fargo's football-sized spider-like robots after them.
The convenience store clerk continues to hold Myka and Pete at gunpoint. Myka tells them they're secret service and shows him her badge. Hugo rolls a can of soda at the clerk and Myka takes advantage of the distraction to kick the clerk.
Artie talks to Hugo Hologram, offering to play Battleship with him, which he knows he can't resist.
Claudia and Fargo continue running from tiny spider robots. Fargo has an idea for Claudia's energy amplification ring and his laser gun.
Meanwhile, Artie sinks Hugo Hologram's battleship.
Fargo makes a lightsaber contraption and they fight off the robots. Claudia kisses him in celebration, but immediately tells him she likes Todd and was thinking about him.
Pete and Myka arrive at the warehouse with Hugo. They're locked out. One of the sensors pops up and scans them.
Artie beats Hologram Hugo, which the computer finds impossible. Then Artie admits he never placed his ships. He thinks the computer isn't artificial intelligence, it's really part of Hugo's brain and Pete and Myka have the other part.
The part of Hugo that loves games is in there, but the part of him which always cheated isn't.
Artie thinks Hugo used an artifact, transferring part of his brain into the computer. Artie asks the computer to let them in. Outside, the scanner fires on Pete and Myka.
Claudia brings Artie the zoetrope. Hologram Hugo thinks Artie's argument has merit, but he thinks he should be reunited in the computer so he can become his life's work.
Outside, Pete preps to fire on the scanner, but it disappears and the door opens.
Inside, Artie sets up the procedure, saying the warehouse comes first. When Pete objects, Hologram Hugo sends the robots after him. Pete tackles it, saying the system will be frozen until the procedure is complete.
They start the transfer using the computer and the zoetrope. The lights dim, meaning the transfer might be taking up all its processing power. Claudia hacks in and locks Hologram Hugo out of everything but the lab. Artie reverses the transfer.
Real Hugo gets his brain back and Hologram Hugo goes away. Real Hugo is back to normal but has lost some time. He's surprised to learn he has old-man jowls.
Later, Myka asks Pete if he thinks about their future there and how they avoid getting their brains fried. He says at least they'll be in the same boat.
Fargo sets the computer back on-line. He's taking Hugo to Eureka to work on their brain-mapping project.
Hugo and Artie say good-bye.
Claudia waits for Todd at the B&B. She apologizes for being a flake and tells him she recently got some clarity. But he interrupts and tells her he can't see her anymore.
