I had to stop 3/4 thru the 1st episode. He is one of those guys that feels like he has to point out everything he can to show everyone how knowledgeable he is. Bleh. Joe's lacking the social skills all the other successful HGTV show hosts have mastered. I wanted this to be good but just couldn't get into it. The hosts have to spark joy, right?

This guy is so arrogant

I hate this guy, he is so full of himself, he talks over everyone and dismisses the woman he is working with as well.
He is one of these guys who think he gods gift to women and he is the best of the best.
I wont be watching again as this guy is so annoying.

For a show just finding its way, shows a lot of pormise

I watched the show through the episodes, and they are certainly improving as it goes.
I like the Joe and his very NY feel, something different. Some of the buyers choices have me shaking my head, but hey, they have to live there.
Houses always look good in the end, no matter how bad they start out. Outrageous prices but that's the market for ya.
Give it a chance and it will grow into a staple on HGTV.

We enjoy it!

I don't get the negative reviews. Of course it's not a typical inspector show. That would be unwatchable. The renovations are what I look forward to most, and enjoy Joe and Noel very much. I'd love to see more episodes! One thing I'd like to know is when each house was built.
Joe is a "Drama Queen!"

In one word, this show is a flop!! If you're looking for Mike Holmes, Home Inspector Joe is not it! He yammers on about mold and other issues like only he could have discovered these, and talks them up as if they the end of the world! He regularly interrupts other people's conversations to give his "chicken little" speech about how "the sky is falling!" He acts as if only he could have discovered the problems and he's saved the world! I have now watched two shows and that's it - I can't take anymore of his "drama queen" posturing and pontificating! And the designer is sweet, but her designs are not earth shattering!
Joe's a character

UNWATCHABLE

This show does not represent the true Home Inspection process or Home Inspectors well. As a homeowner that has purchased and sold lots of properties (I'm not a flipper), I can state, with experience, a lack of professionalism with this show and the Host. Seems like the focus is on decorating a home vice truly inspecting for safety and home viability: Roof, HVAC, Electrical, Flooring, Plumbing-just to name a few-didn't see any of that in S1/Ep5 (2022).
I see a cancellation in the future.
TV hosts that have this type of personality can be annoying; too self-absorbed to put the needs of others first. Since this isn't a scripted program, per se, what you see is what you get. You really have to "earn" a negative review from me. This show earned the fourth 1-star I've ever given on a review.

Doesn't follow safety rules

Cookie cutter crap

This isn't what home inspectors do, so the whole premise of the show has already gone down the tubes. Home inspectors don't renovate houses. Joe has little charisma and is way more annoying than dull, wingnut Chip Gaines. Is HGTV trying to make Joe into the next Mike Holmes? Never gonna happen. Holmes pioneered this space. Joe just doesn't cut it.
HGTV has already beaten this formula to death, and by now most viewers recognize that these shows are stage managed, scripted, and fake to some degree. And the sad thing is, none of these "designers" have any unique design flair. Everyone wants to be the next Chip and Joanna, why IDK. The Gaines have modest charisma, even less skill, and soaring annoying quotient. So why keep copying them?

Terribly scripted and difficult to watch

There isn't much to say about either host. I don't even necessarily agree with the other hostile reviews. They're actors in what is essentially a D movie.
The issue here is the terribly scripted purchase and renovations.
There must be some sort of reciprocal agreement between the show and owners to purchase the worst home they can find. Who in their right mind picks two homes in such dire condition they need hundreds of thousands in repairs or upgrades, and who in their right mind tries to sell a home with mold and standing water? Even the most inept homeowner puts lipstick on a pig before putting up a for sale sign.
Making the smallest issue a life or death situation needing immediate excessively expensive repairs is difficult to watch.
Overall it's great to see a nice final product but the journey between point A and B needs a lot of work.
It's more than obvious they pick a terrible home to.make the show work and it would be interesting to see if the 'homeowners' actually own these homes.

Not impressed

Warning: Spoilers
I usually enjoy the home shows but watching this it became clear he is not as knowledgeable as he promotes himself. His chimney repair was to install a undersized liner, and had the homeowner do the install? That change alone will result in smoke backup if used.
Not watching anymore

He is already getting paid to renovate the house and he's charging $200 to put mortar in the fireplace. Instead of putting plywood to even out the floors, he charged to add an extra layer of hardwood floors. $600 vs $2500. One house, the stones fell off the house, and doesn't give his client options of stucco or siding in lieu of the stones. He's not even trying to help his clients save money. He may find problems but he adds more. And I agree with the other reviews of him...annoying, loud, and chicken little personality.
