Yes we can

I guess the humor works especially for southern European people. Not because other countries are not making fun of their politicians, but because of the way they portray them here and quite a few little details that might get lost in translation (some literally if you're not Italian speaking).

I myself had quite a lot of fun with this one because I could see Greek politicians do the same thing. More or less of course because after all this is portrayed in its most extreme form. But as the director would say, most things in the movie come from real life (experience). And while its characterization might very well be quite appalling to a lot of people, it is done in a fashion to offend as many as possible anyway.

Funny and interesting film.

The film is funny but it contains some "true" reality. Sometimes it's too exaggerated but it explain some problem and some facts of south Italy.

Fine example of dead pan humor, but a bit too dead

There ARE men like this. Unbelieveably inhuman, narcissistic, toxic, unlikeable, yet, successful and among cheering crowds.

The film has a very clear, direct, sharp and brutal humor. But for the colorful imagery, you can call it an example of dark humor. I liked several one-liners by the protagonist, like the one where he likens "paying taxes" to "trying drugs", making the point "you can end up paying taxes all your life, so never start it!"

None of the characters having dignity was a notable marker and contributed to the cartoonish style.

The reason I didn't like it too much is not really about the characters being totally and intentionally unlikeable - the film itself could be likeable despite that distinguishing feature.

I think they did not dare force it too much, degrading the outcome to some sort of mild "made-for-TV" production.

I saw the clues to an even better movie within this one, and just cannot know if creative differences and/or target audience caused it to be what it is, or if there was some incompetence with the script and directing.
