First, in the City, on a beautiful spring day, Curious George accompanies the Man with the Yellow Hat to visit Chef Pisghetti's Restaurant, which is empty, so the Waitress instructs them to go back into the kitchen, to discover plates of prepared foods lining the tables, carts and counters.
Now, Chef Pisghetti and Netti tell Curious George and the Man with the Yellow Hat that Gnocchi, Chef Pisghetti's pet Cat, must approve all of Chef Pisghetti's menu items, but she won't try anything today, not that she will eat anything except cat food anyway, but Chef Pisghetti abides by Gnocchi's "Lick of Approval" in order to decide if a menu item is savory.
Well, the Florist's Delivery Man delivers a vase of flowers, which Gnocchi approaches, but Netti tells her that flowers are not food, but to return to her approving Chef Pisghetti's dishes, but Gnocchi will not budge.
Then Curious George wonders why Gnocchi won't sample anything, especially after Chef Pisghetti tells everyone that he's retiring because he is now ruined. So, Curious George scrutinizes Gnocchi's behavior, as she walks into the ground-level garden to roll into the vegetable bed, and then to follow her through the alley to see if she's eating anywhere else, when she passes before the Sausage Vendor even though Curious George decides that the Sausage Vendor's wares smell delicious.
And, back inside the restaurant, Netti prepares a farewell dinner, to say, "Good-bye" to Chef Pisghetti's loyal customers, while the Man with the Yellow Hat brings Gnocchi new toys because she may be bored with life, but Gnocchi merely passes these by, as well.
So, before the Waitress serves the last antipasto and last ravioli dinners to Curious George and the Man with the Yellow Hat, she places the floral vase upon their table, but the Man with the Yellow Hat begins to sneeze, and moves the flowers away, while saying that the eggplant has no taste, causing Curious George to draw a link between Gnocchi's behavior and the Man with the Yellow Hat's allergies to the flowers because Curious George decides that the eggplant tastes savory enough to satisfy even "Gnocchi the Critic." But will Curious George be correct in his analysis when Chef Pisghetti and Netti take Gnocchi to the Veterinarian?

Next, also in the City, Curious George spends his time in the apartment cutting paper monkey chains and the like while the Man with the Yellow Hat shows Professor Wiseman his collection of rare valuable postage stamps. When the Man with the Yellow Hat returns, telling Curious George that Professor Wiseman asked him to bring his rare stamps to show Mister Stamp, he observes the gigantic mess which Curious George has created with his cutting paper.
Now, the Man with the Yellow Hat decides that it's time to suggest to Curious George ways to clean up after himself, and there is no time like the present, so the Man with the Yellow Hat teaches Curious George how to use a vacuum cleaner, and to empty its storage bag, but when Curious George pushes the vacuum cleaner around, he makes an even bigger mess, by crashing the vacuum into a potted plant, primarily because even when its adjustable handle is lowered, the vacuum cleaner is too large for Curious George to maneuver.
Well, the Man with the Yellow Hat asks Curious George not to move until he returns again, and so Curious George freezes into place until the Man with the Yellow Hat returns, presenting a Monkey-size portable Dirt Vac vacuum cleaner, for Curious George to maneuver.
But when Curious George spills sugar onto the Man with the Yellow Hat's rare valuable stamps, he vacuums them up, and then turns on the television set to observe a TV superhero, who stands upon a tall building, saying that he is here to clean up this city, so Curious George becomes "Vacuum Monkey" and dons a towel cape to clean up the City, as well.
Then, as the Man with the Yellow Hat searches around the apartment for his rare valuable stamps, Curious George makes his rounds outdoors, watching Charkie the black Cocker Spaniel trip with a bone biscuit, breaking to bits, which Curious George vacuums from the sidewalk. When a Nice Lady feeds Compass the Doorman's Almost-Homing Pigeon in the park, Compass leaves to alert all of his pigeon friends, but Curious George vacuums the birdseed from the sidewalk. When two Boys play jacks on the sidewalk, Curious George vacuums up their toys. And when a Man with the winning lottery ticket loses his winning lottery ticket in the wind, guess what happens next? That's correct: Curious George vacuums the winning lottery ticket.
So, by now, Charkie the black Cocker Spaniel, Compass the Doorman's Almost-Homing Pigeon and his pigeon friends, the Lady in the Park, the Man with the Yellow Hat, the Man with the winning lottery ticket and the Boys with the jacks all begin to chase after Curious George, as "Vacuum Monkey," who carries his Monkey-size portable Dirt Vac vacuum cleaner to empty all of its valuables into a dumpster. But will the pursuers reach "Vacuum Monkey" in time to save the day, as Curious "George Cleans Up?"
