A middle of the road series continues down the middle.

How can a series that started with so much promise devolve into a bad version of sci-fi past? I truly didn't fully grasp how mediocre this show has become till I started watching reruns of Star Trek; Next Generation. A show to me that perfected the 60 minute sci fi drama. A show which had full characters who on a weekly basis confronted their own strenghts and shortcomings through exciting and thought provoking scenarios.

With the success of Battlestar Galactica the 21st century model of sci-fi is a continuing conflict from within and without developing over an episode to episode basis. This is how Sanctuary Season 1 began with the decent shows versus a known antagonist and somewhat character studies. Season two saw that do a complete switch back to the Stargate SG-1 Tapping obviously felt more comfortable with. Unfortunately midway through season three this format is failing and failing miserably.

With obvious ties to a story line developed on Stargate SG-1 this episode lacked the humor of "Wormhole X-treme" which it was clearly lifted. The villain as usual was cardboard like and I still can't get a feel on where any of the cast is coming from. The scripts are as weak as the abilities of the actors. Even the weaponry makes no sense. Gigantic guns which just stun? Why? I am always looking to clear my DVR to below 60% and dropping Sanctuary will do the trick.
