Winning projects announced for the Irish Film Board low budget dilmmaking scheme, Catalyst Project.
The Irish Film Board has revealed the final three teams of the competitive Catalyst Project initiative, selected from more than 88 applications bidding to win the opportunity to produce a fully funded feature film.
Ifb will now provide each filmmaking team with funding to produce a low-budget feature film, with access to industry experts who will offer mentorship and guidance along the way.
The successful projects are:
Kissing Candice written and to be directed by Aoife McArdle and to be produced by Andrew Freedman;
The Drummer and The Goalkeeper written and to be directed by Nick Kelly and to be produced by Kate McColgan;
Without Name written by Garret Shanley, to be directed by Lorcan Finnegan and to be produced by Brunella Cocchiglia.

Nick Kelly's short film 'Shoe' has won the title of Best Irish Short Film at the 3rd annual Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival (26 – 29 May) in Schull, Co Cork. Produced by Zanita Films' Seamus Byrne and funded under the Irish Film Board's Signature scheme, 'Shoe' was filmed in Co. Kerry and Dublin in July 2010, and features Peter Coonan ('Between the Canals') and Pat Kinevane as the main leads.

Irish short films 'The Crush', from director Michael Creagh, and 'Shoe', from director Nick Kelly, have been announced among the 10 live action short films advancing in the voting process for the 83rd Academy Awards®. 'The Crush' is written and directed by Michael Creagh and produced by the 'Hole In The Wall Gang's Damon Quinn at Purdy Pictures and 'Shoe' is an Ifb funded short film from director Nick Kelly and producer Seamus Byrne of Zanita Films. The 83rd Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on 25 January 2011 with the winners announced on Sunday, February 27th.

The Ifb brings 'Signatures' and 'Reality Bites' to the Cork Film Festival on November 13th whilst Gavin Keane's 'Cold Turkey has won the Audience Award at the 2010 Sapporo International Short Film Festival in Japan. The latest series of 'Signatures' and 'Reality Bites', consisting of eight short films and documentaries, will be premiering at this year's 55th Corona Cork Film Festival on Saturday 13th November. This latest batch of shorts includes Michael Peter McDonald's 'Pentecost', Brian O'Malley's, 'Crossing Salween', Nick Kelly's 'Shoe' and Oonagh Kearney's The Christening'.
