The team breaks into the Yakomoto Building to cut the trunkline. The Yakomoto Building is the filming location for the Nakatomi building in the movie Die Hard (1988).
Dooley says that his mall has lost business to the Twin Pines Mall, which is the name of the mall in Back to the Future (1985). In the movie, the name of the mall changes because Marty McFly crashes into one of twin pines in the past. In this episode, the team uses car crashes twice to accomplish their con.
Hardison refers to the black van as "Lucille 2" (a long-running series of vans in the show's history) and says about Chaos to himself when Chaos tries to hack into the van's computer systems, commenting "You can keep on a-knockin', but you can't come in". The van's name and Hardison's comment are both references to the Little Richard songs "Lucille" and Little Richard's cover of "Keep On Knockin'".

Nate tells Sophie they're going to pull an "Edward Albee" and then proceed to create a diversion by posing as a couple arguing. This is a reference to the play, 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' by American playwright Edward Albee, which chronicles the collapse of a marriage.
