Alan Plater is a prolific writer of almost good tv mysteries, and this one is further evidence. Legitimate motive but the culprit has no experience in the specialized mode of murder number two. The reverse is true of murder number one, complete lack of motive. Were it not for the excellent acting and decent atmosphere, this episode would have been a complete failure.
