- [Andrea tries telling Daryl how sorry she is for shooting him]
- Andrea Harrison: I'm so sorry. I feel like shit.
- Daryl Dixon: Yeah, you and me both.
- Andrea Harrison: I don't expect you to forgive me, but if there's anything I can do...
- Daryl Dixon: You were trying to protect the group. We're good.
- Daryl Dixon: [Andrea prepares to walk out of his tent] But hey, shoot me again, and you'd best pray I'm dead.
- [Dale tells Shane that he's been vague about Otis's death]
- Shane Walsh: You think the group would be better off without me, Dale? Why don't you tell that to Rick or Lori? Their boy would be dead if I hadn't put my ass on the line.
- Dale Horvath: And Otis's.
- Dale Horvath: [Shane turns to walk off] You've been vague about that night, about what happened.
- Shane Walsh: [Shane pauses] Otis died a hero.
- Dale Horvath: So you've said.
- Shane Walsh: A little boy lived because of what went down that night. I think you ought to show some gratitude.
- Dale Horvath: I wasn't there.
- Shane Walsh: No, man, you weren't.
- Dale Horvath: But I was the time that you raised your gun on Rick.
- Shane Walsh: [Shane rolls his eyes] Come on. Jesus.
- Dale Horvath: You had him in your sights and you held him there.
- [Shane shakes his head]
- [Maggie asks Glenn to keep the barn full of Walkers a secret]
- Maggie Greene: Just trust me on this, okay?
- Glenn Rhee: But I suck at lying. I can't even play poker. It's too much like lying.
- [Glenn tells Dale the secrets of both Hershel and Lori]
- Dale Horvath: Want to tell me what's going on?
- Glenn Rhee: You're old. You're... You know things. So. What if somebody told you something that somebody else should know...
- Dale Horvath: Glenn, stop being dramatic. Spit it out.
- Glenn Rhee: There's... there's Walkers in the barn and Lori's pregnant.
- [as Dale makes an alarming face without responding]
- [first lines]
- Carl Grimes: [Carl and his mother Lori help feed Hershel's chickens in the morning] Don't look so worried.
- Lori Grimes: It's my job.
- Carl Grimes: No, it's not. You're a housewife.
- Lori Grimes: [Lori smiles, throwing some chicken feed at Carl] Yeah, punk? You see my house around here?
- [Carl comments to his mother that the baby chickens don't have a mother]
- Carl Grimes: They don't have a mother.
- Lori Grimes: She might be somewhere else.
- Carl Grimes: Maybe she got eaten.
- Carl Grimes: [Lori gets quiet] Everything is food for something else.
- [Maggie brings some food to Glenn as he watches the barn full of Walkers with binoculars]
- Maggie Greene: Could you be more obvious? Here, enjoy.
- Glenn Rhee: Are you trying to buy my silence with fruit?
- Maggie Greene: Of course not. There's also jerky.
- [Andrea brings Daryl a book to read as he recovers from his gunshot]
- Andrea Harrison: This is not that great, but...
- Daryl Dixon: [Daryl sees the novel] What, no pictures?
- [Beth and Patricia ask Rick if they can learn how to shoot]
- Beth Greene: We'd like to join you for gun training today.
- Rick Grimes: [as Rick speaks to Beth for the first time] Hershel's been very clear. I can't involve any of you in what we do without his okay.
- Beth Greene: He doesn't like it, but he consented.
- Patricia: Otis was the only one who knew guns. Now that he's gone, we gotta learn to protect ourselves.
- [Lori, Rick, and Shane discuss on whether or not Carl should carry a gun]
- Shane Walsh: [Shane about training Carl] Now it's none of my business, but I'm happy to do it. It's your call.
- Lori Grimes: I'm not comfortable with it.
- Lori Grimes: [Lori looks to Rick has he remains quiet] Oh, don't make me out to be the unreasonable one here. Rick?
- Rick Grimes: I know. I have my concerns too, but...
- Lori Grimes: There's no but. He was just shot. He's just back on his feet and he wants a gun?
- Rick Grimes: Better than him being afraid of 'em.
- [Shane trains Andrea how to shoot a gun with the others]
- Shane Walsh: Try this one. It's heavy. You get better balance, twice the rounds.
- Shane Walsh: [Shane and Rick watch Andrea hit the targets on her first try] I'd say she's got the hang of it.
- Rick Grimes: [Rick smiles] I'd say she's ready for the advanced class.
- [Glenn and Maggie argue about what the Walkers are]
- Glenn Rhee: Look, if you'd seen Atlanta, you would not have a barn full of Walkers.
- Maggie Greene: [Maggie yells back] I wish you'd stop calling them that.
- Glenn Rhee: What do you call them?
- Maggie Greene: Mom, Shawn, Mr. and Mrs. Fischer, Lacey, Duncan.
- [Maggie and Glenn argue after giving Lori her list of items]
- Glenn Rhee: That was not cool.
- Maggie Greene: Which part? The part where that bitch almost got us killed?
- Glenn Rhee: I should've gone alone. If you want to blame anybody, blame me.
- Maggie Greene: Right, take the blame. You know, for a smart guy, you're really stupid.
- Glenn Rhee: Okay, I'm confused, because I think you just paid me a compliment, but you made it sound...
- [as Maggie kisses Glenn's lips]
- [Maggie holds her arms around Glenn telling him that she can't lose him]
- Maggie Greene: [Maggie looks in Glenn's eyes] I've already lost three of the people that I care about most in this world.
- Glenn Rhee: Maggie...
- Maggie Greene: Shut up. You're smart. You're brave. You're a leader. But you don't know it. And your friends don't want to know it. They'd rather have you fetching peaches. There's a dead guy in the well? Send Glenn down. You're Walker-bait. I can't take you becoming one of them.
- [Maggie walks off in tears]
- [last lines]
- Rick Grimes: [Lori tells Rick about Shane and her] Is there anything else I should know about?
- Lori Grimes: [Lori whispers] Shane and I.
- Rick Grimes: I know. Of course I know. You thought I was dead. The world went to shit and you thought I was dead. Right?
- Lori Grimes: [Lori nods side-to-side before nodding up-and-down and cries] Yeah.
- [Shane sees Carl hanging around the bag of guns]
- Shane Walsh: [Shane makes a comment about his Sheriff Deputy's hat] Dude, nice lid, man. What's going on?
- Carl Grimes: I want to learn to shoot too. Can you teach me?
- Shane Walsh: [Shane chuckles] Well, man, that's... that's up to your parents.
- Carl Grimes: Can you talk to them? They'll listen to you.
- [Dale talks to Hershel about finding the Walkers in the barn]
- Dale Horvath: I love your fields. Took a long walk this morning. I ended up by the barn. I heard the moans.
- Hershel Greene: That's unfortunate.
- Dale Horvath: I'm sure you have your reasons for keeping this a secret.
- Hershel Greene: I saw the broadcasts before they stopped, saw the irrational fear, the atrocities, like the incident at my well.
- Dale Horvath: We put down a Walker.
- Hershel Greene: You killed a person.
- [Dale talks to Hershel about the Walkers being dangerous]
- Dale Horvath: If you watched the same broadcasts I did, you saw Walkers attack, kill. They're dangerous.
- Hershel Greene: A paranoid schizophrenic is dangerous too. We don't shoot sick people.
- Dale Horvath: With all due respect, you are cut off from the outside world here. But I've seen people that I cared about die and come back, and they're not people.
- Hershel Greene: My wife and stepson are in that barn. They're people.
- Dale Horvath: I'm sorry.
- [Hershel asks Lori how her son Carl did at training to shoot]
- Hershel Greene: I take it your boy did well.
- Lori Grimes: Not bad, actually.
- Hershel Greene: [Hershel chuckles] Be grateful you don't have a daughter. If only things were as simple as wanting to shoot.
- [Shane trains Andrea how to shoot a moving target with muscle memory]
- Shane Walsh: You think a Walker's gonna hold still for you? Focus and reload, go again.
- Shane Walsh: [Andrea reloads as Shane pushes the swinging log, Andrea misses her next shot] Uh-oh, did I piss you off? Come on, girl, you've got Walkers all around you. They're in the woods. They're in the RV. You're gonna need more than a damn screwdriver.
- Andrea Harrison: Stop badgering me.
- Shane Walsh: [Shane chuckles] You're too damn emotional. You need to shut it down. Take all that guilt, take that fear, that being pissed off, take it out.
- Andrea Harrison: Right, 'cause you're so calm.
- Shane Walsh: [Shane pulls out his pistol immediately firing and hitting the target] See that? See, I can be pissed off. I could be whistling 'Dixie' and I'll always hit the target. But you, God, you shoot like a damn girl. You stand here and you point your weapon. Point like you point your finger. Do not think about it.
- Shane Walsh: [Shane raises his voice while banging on his head] I'm talking about muscle memory, girl... Muscle memory.
- Shane Walsh: [Shane starts to yell as Andrea repeatedly fires at the target] Now go on, shoot that son of a bitch. He's coming for you! He's 10-feet away! He's 9-feet... He's 5-feet away! Right there, that's the Walker that got Amy. Now you shoot that son of a bitch! Shoot him!
- [Andrea stops firing her pistol and walks off]
- [Rick tells Lori that he can't handle her looking scared]
- Rick Grimes: [Lori stares at Rick when she finds out Hershel wants them out] Don't look at me like that.
- Lori Grimes: Like what?
- Rick Grimes: Like you're scared. Like you don't trust me. I can take it from everyone else, but not from you.
- [Shane apologizes to Andrea for training her to shoot too intensely]
- Shane Walsh: Look, I'm just trying to get you rattled, give you an idea what it's like when the shit starts to fly.
- Andrea Harrison: Is that an apology?
- Shane Walsh: I crossed the line when I brought Amy into it. Yeah, it's an apology.
- Andrea Harrison: You're a real dick sometimes.
- Shane Walsh: Yeah, I acknowledge that.
- [Dale talks to Lori about his wife being pregnant once]
- Dale Horvath: [Dale walks silently up beside Lori] She miscarried and we didn't try again after that.
- Lori Grimes: I'm so sorry.
- Dale Horvath: The thing that I remember most is how nauseated she became at the smell of cooking meat.
- Dale Horvath: [as Lori smiles] And she was a meat-eating gal... my wife, but with the pregnancy... that Thanksgiving, the turkey... she-she couldn't be in the house for two days until it was aired out, poor thing.
- Lori Grimes: Glenn told you?
- Dale Horvath: What did you expect? The boy has no guile.
- [Lori tells Dale why she wanted to have a baby]
- Lori Grimes: Look, I thought my husband was dead. And I felt like I died with him. And I... I wanted to feel something... anything. And now I hate myself for it.
- Dale Horvath: And the baby?
- Lori Grimes: It's Rick's. None of the rest of it matters.
- [Lori tells Dale what concerns her most about her unborn baby]
- Lori Grimes: Memories are what keep me going now. Memories of what life used to be. And I... I've got a deep well to draw on. I still remember joy. But I think Carl's well is already running dry. And this baby... The baby won't have any good memories at all, only fear and pain.
- Dale Horvath: You can't think like that.
- Dale Horvath: [Lori chuckles] We can still find joy and we can still take strength from each other.
- Lori Grimes: Do you really think this baby has a chance, that it could grow up and live a happy life?
- Lori Grimes: [Lori with tears in her eyes] Look me in the eye and tell me that my baby will grow up to be your age and die happy.
- Lori Grimes: [Lori in a low voice] Tell me. Tell me you believe that.
- [Glenn and Maggie ride their horses on a second errand for Lori]
- Glenn Rhee: You didn't have to come. You could hate me from a distance.
- Glenn Rhee: [Maggie remains silent] Please say something. Maggie, I...
- Maggie Greene: I asked for your trust and you betrayed it. Now my dad's pissed at me. Your turn.
- [Maggie and Glenn arrive to the pharmacy with Lori's list]
- Maggie Greene: What does she want now?
- Glenn Rhee: I can't say.
- Maggie Greene: So when one of them asks you to keep your mouth shut...
- Glenn Rhee: Crawl out of my butt and help me look, please.
- Maggie Greene: [Maggie looks at the list to see abortion pills] You've got to be kidding me.
- [Glenn tells Lori that Maggie was almost attacked at the pharmacy]
- Lori Grimes: The blood on Maggie's shirt...
- Glenn Rhee: She was attacked.
- Lori Grimes: Are you guys all right? How bad was it?
- Glenn Rhee: It was pretty close.
- Lori Grimes: I'm so sorry. I should never have asked you to go.
- Glenn Rhee: I offered.
- Lori Grimes: I thought the town was safe, but if you hadn't come back...
- Glenn Rhee: [Glenn smiles] But we did. I always do.
- [Glenn tells Lori that she shouldn't have to make a choice alone about her baby]
- Lori Grimes: Prenatal vitamins. That's a hell of a choice.
- Glenn Rhee: I'm glad it's not mine. Lori, we're friends, aren't we?
- Lori Grimes: With everything we've been through... Yeah.
- Glenn Rhee: I can't tell you what to do. I could never tell you something like that. But your choice... Maybe you shouldn't make it alone.
- [Shane and Andrea start to make out in the car with each other]
- Shane Walsh: [Andrea puts her hand on Shane's leg] Come on then.
- Shane Walsh: [Shane pulls the car over] Get over here. Get over here!
- [Dale tells Shane that he knows what kind of man he is]
- Dale Horvath: [Dale in a low voice] I know what kind of man you are.
- Shane Walsh: [Shane pauses, responding in a low voice] You think I'd shoot Rick? That is my best friend. That's the man that I love. I love him like he's my brother. You think that's the kind of man I am?
- Dale Horvath: [Dale quietly] That's right.
- Shane Walsh: Well, maybe we ought to just think that through. Say I'm the kind of man who'd gun down his own best friend. What'd you think I'd do to some guy that I don't even like when he starts throwing accusations my way? What you think?
- [Shane scoffs before walking off as Dale's voice shivers]
- [Rick confronts Lori about her being pregnant]
- Rick Grimes: Is there something you need to tell me?
- Lori Grimes: We can't leave. I'm pregnant.
- Rick Grimes: [Rick holds up the abortion pills wrapper] Are you?
- Lori Grimes: I threw them up. You can yell if you want. You can scream if you have to, but talk to me.
- Rick Grimes: How long have you known?
- Lori Grimes: Does it matter? Days? Weeks?
- Rick Grimes: And you didn't tell me?
- Lori Grimes: I'm telling you now.
- Rick Grimes: No!
- [Lori tells Rick why she doesn't want the baby]
- Lori Grimes: We can't protect the son we already have.
- Rick Grimes: So this is the solution?
- Lori Grimes: Rick, I threw them up. I screwed up. I don't know how we do this.
- Rick Grimes: [Lori cries] We can make it work.
- Lori Grimes: How? Tell me how.
- Rick Grimes: We'll figure it out. Shouldn't we try to figure it out? You threw up the pills. You want this baby. I know you do.
- Lori Grimes: [Lori in tears] Not like this. Not giving birth in a ditch. Not when its life will hang by a thread from the second it's born. Not when every cry will put it, and Carl, and everyone we care about, in danger. That's not right.
- Rick Grimes: Not even giving it a chance isn't right either.
- [Lori tells Rick that she didn't want to tell him about the baby to not be on his conscience]
- Lori Grimes: Maybe this is why I didn't want to tell you.
- Rick Grimes: [Rick with tears in his eyes] I still... I still don't understand why. You really think I'd make you have a baby you don't want?
- Lori Grimes: [Lori in a low voice] No, no, so that if I went through with it, it would be on my conscience and not yours.
- Rick Grimes: [Rick in a low voice] Maybe that's true, but... I can't live like this anymore, Lori. We can't live like this.
- Andrea Harrison: I don't expect you to forgive me, but if there's anything I can do.
- Daryl Dixon: You were trying to protect the group, we're good.
- Daryl Dixon: But hey. Shoot me again, you best pray I'm dead.
