(Himself) : We've all experienced inspiring conditions in nature where the light, the moonlight on the snow glows and one walks through a landscape and feels uplifted and euphoric over this condition of space and light and movement and textures. And I think that architecture really is the one art that has the opportunity to add this to our daily lives, and to, especially in the city, make this kind of condition of inspirational existence. I see it as a kind of urgent mission on that level.

(Himself) : I use the word 'phenomenology'. It's a very large word and it's a word that means a lot in the discipline of philosophy, but not so much in the discipline of architecture. And I take liberties with this word, because I need to use it like a tool. Phenomenology, for me, is the study of essences, and I believe that architecture has the potential in the twenty-first century to put essences back into existence.
