I've come to the conclusion that Michel Gondry never sleeps. Either he's an insomniac or constantly high on caffeine, but his output is pretty incredible, especially in variety. With the trailer for his upcoming feature fiction film Mood Indigo only a few weeks old, there is now a trailer for a documentary project, Is the Man Who is Tall Happy?, about famed philosopher, linguist and cognitive scientist Noam Chomsky.Based on interviews with Chomsky over several months, Gondry decided that, since the interviews were mainly audio only, he would animate much of the film. This is not only in keeping with his own sense of playfulness, but also Chomsky's incredibly sharp and wide-ranging analyses on topics from Us foreign policy to social psychology. It looks and sounds like...

Watch: Trailer For Michel Gondry's Animated Noam Chomsky Documentary 'Is The Man Who Is Tall Happy?'
Michel Gondry is just full of surprises in 2013. He kicked off the New Year with a short film, dropped a fairly gorgeous trailer for his upcoming "Mood Indigo" and one project he told us way back in 2011 would be finished "within two years. Maximum," has been completed. We have to admit, we kind forgot he was working on a doucmentary about famed linguist, philosopher and activist Noam Chomsky, but the movie is now complete. Titled "Is The Tall Man Happy?" it's something Gondry has been quietly plugging away on for the last few years via a very involved process. "I’ve been interviewing him many times and I took all the sound, because I barely shot him… I shot him a few occasions but mostly it’s sound," Gondry said about the movie a couple years back. "I’m doing it in animation so I have my animation camera, it’s a Bolex 16mm.

Here are a few interesting and/or noteworthy projects that were recently added to IMDbPro's database of development titles.
The Place Beyond the Pines –Writer-director Derek Cianfrance reunites with his Blue Valentine star Ryan Gosling in this project the filmmaker describes as a motorcycle tale "about fathers and guns."
Admission – Favorite funny gal Tina Fey may be getting all serious and stuff with her latest project, a drama about an Ivy League admissions officer who puts her job on the line for an unlikely candidate. Paul Weitz directs.
Untitled Noam Chomsky Documentary – Hot on the heels of revving up The Green Hornet, French filmmaker Michel Gondry is changing gears with his next film -- an animated (yes, animated) documentary featuring his brief interviews in broken English with famed linguist and political activist Noam Chomsky.
Annie Jenkins: A Not Very Romantic Comedy – This may be the closest we ever get to a Mr. Show reunion since Run Ronnie Run. Bob Odenkirk is developing a script with a role in mind for his fellow co-star David Cross. Indie producer Mary Jane Skalski is also on board helping to secure funds for the comedy.
Gypsy – Everything's coming up roses for Barbra Streisand this year: a number one movie in Little Fockers, another Grammy nom, a Glee tribute and now a chance to star as Mama Rose in a remake of the Broadway musical about the ultimate stage mom and her darling dancing daughter.
Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse – Films in Motion and Harold & Kumar producer Carsten Lorenz are developing this post-apocalyptic action comedy about a guy who teams up with a cowboy, a stripper and a mountain man to embark on a journey of survival.

And He's Directing 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' Tonight If you think just because Michel Gondry now has his first studio tentpole under his belt, he's abandoned indie films forever, you'd be mistaken. As usual, the director has a number of projects in various stages of development that he continues to tinker with and as he revealed last month, one of projects is a documentary on the world-renowned linguist, philosopher and activist Noam Chomsky. Details at the time were scarce except that it would be animated and that he had already started the interview process with Chomsky. However, speaking with Collider recently,…...
