The film hits cinemas just in time for Christmas next month, and we’ve got the first trailer to share with you as we head into the weekend.
Leading the cast this time around are Ian Virgo (Rise of the Footsoldier), Alex Ismail (Attack the Block), Ryan Winsley (The Fall of the Essex Boys), and Kyle Summercorn (Turnout), with Lorraine Stanley (London to Brighton), Vas Blackwood (Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels), and Billy Murray (The Rise and Fall of a White Collar Hooligan) completing the cast nicely.

From zombie outbreaks to food poisoning, here's our selection of the 10 unluckiest fictional airline companies in cinema...
You rarely see real-life airline companies in movies, and for good reason - planes in the movies are always being overrun by snakes, art thieves, the undead, and that actor who plays Hercule Poirot.
Film airline companies are so unlucky, in fact, that even the best efforts of Hollywood's finest actors, heart-throbs and action heroes - from Brad Pitt to Bruce Willis, and Jack Lemmon to Mark Hamill - can't stop their planes from dropping out of the sky or getting into some kind of mishap or other.
To this end, here's a far-from-exhaustive look at what we think are the 10 unluckiest airlines in cinema...

It’s The Raid meets Taken in this first trailer for Paul Tanter’s upcoming British action-thriller, He Who Dares.
We got a look at the first poster when it surfaced back in the spring. And we can now go one better with the first trailer to share, teasing plenty of action coming our way soon.
On Christmas Eve a group of ruthless masked terrorists kidnap the Prime Minister’s daughter, fortifying themselves in an underground car park rigged with explosives. Crack Sas operative Chris Lowe and his team are sent in and must take the building one level at a time.
Tom Benedict Knight (Kick-Ass 2) leads the cast alongside Simon Phillips (The Rise and Fall of a White Collar Hooligan), Christina Bellavia, Ewan Ross (The Fall of The Essex Boys), Ben Loyd-Holmes (Torchwood), Lorraine Stanley (London to Brighton), Kye Loren, and Zara Phythian (Alien Uprising).

Four years ago, it was Alice Creed’s disappearance act that brought one of the most memorable crime-thrillers in recent memory to the big screen. Now production has wrapped on The Disappearance of Lenka Wood, and whilst the two films are related purely in so far as their names are similar, that similarity will somewhat inevitably lead to comparisons in the coming months.
With the New York- and Turkey-set, Taken-esque thriller officially wrapped, the first poster has been released, giving us a look at Petra Bryant making her feature debut as the eponymous Lenka Wood.
A New York couple’s honeymoon in Turkey is turned upside down when the wife is kidnapped. Her ex-military husband has to act quickly, and violently, to get her back alive.
Mark O’Neal (Wanted) stars opposite Bryant in the male lead, with Tom Benedict Knight (Kick-Ass 2), Akbar Kurtha (24), Anais Alvarado, Simon Phillips (Airborne...

Another year winds down, and it's time to reflect on the good, the bad, and the ugly of 2012's horror offerings. We're giving you ten different lists this time, and per usual they come in a variety of formats, each reflecting the unique styles of our writers. We've also compiled them to come up with the year's overall winners and losers.
And don't be lazy by just reading along! Give us your own lists in the comments section below. We want to hear what you thought of the year in which we dodged the Mayan apocalypse but find our beloved genre facing some dark days as violent movies, video games, TV shows, etc., are coming under increased scrutiny following recent events.
But back to the matter at hand; we averaged out the top and bottom five vote getters on everyone's lists, and here are the results:

UFO will be hitting the big screen on our shores next Friday, 14th December, with Dominic Burns (Airborne, How to Stop Being a Loser) returning behind the camera for his fourth feature.
We had an exclusive look at the first trailer back in October, showing that the independent film industry in Britain is still brimming with potential. And with its release just over a week away, the latest poster has been released online, giving us another look at the epic scale of this sci-fi.
“It started with a blackout, all power and communications down. Hours later city sized UFO’s invade the world’s skies. Then the war began… Five friends attempt to navigate their way to survival amidst deteriorating chaos as the world descends into terror and anarchy during an alien invasion and interstellar war.”

Simon Phillips is a busy, busy guy. Having regularly collaborated with director and often-times producing partner Dominic Burns on a number of features, he recently stretched his legs a little more with his directorial debut, GBH (you can read our review here). No sooner was that released than we’ve been treated to the exclusive trailer for UFO, which sees Simon back on acting and producing duties, while Dominic steps once again behind the camera.
We were able to catch up with Simon this week, to chat about GBH and how these various projects of his are coming along.

The international trailer for a film called UFO has unleashed its low budget fury on the web, featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme doing what he does best – killing things. Check it out below:
Synopsis:
It started with a blackout, all power and communications down. Hours later city sized UFOs invade the world’s skies. Then the war began…
Five friends attempt to navigate their way to survival amidst deteriorating chaos as the world descends into terror and anarchy during an alien invasion and interstellar war.
Airborne’s Dominic Burns directed the indie sci-fi flick that also stars Bianca Bree, Sean Brosnan, Simon Phillips, Julian Glover and Sean Pertwe.
This story line has been overused, and I don’t think that Van Damme is enough to interest me. Would this be a film you want to see when it hits theaters next year?

What if Skyline was British, didn’t take place in a big city apartment complex, and at some point Jean-Claude Van Damme shows up with a shotgun? That’s kind of the impression I got from the trailer for UFO.

Five friends attempt to navigate their way to survival amidst deteriorating chaos as the world descends into terror and anarchy during an alien invasion and interstellar war.
That’s the plot to Airborne director Dominic Burns’ upcoming low budget British alien invasion flick UFO. The movie has garnered a bit more press than it probably would have thanks to the casting of Jean-Claude Van Damme, albeit in a small role. Getting him involved probably wasn’t too hard considering the film’s star is Van Damme’s adult daughter,...

Bloody hell, I knew it was a mistake to watch a film starring Mark Hamill neither playing Luke Skywalker nor voicing The Joker.
I’m always one to give Video On Demand (VOD) films their fair shot, as sometimes it’s just a matter of lesser known foreign films or surprise independent hits getting proper distribution, but then again there are some films that are just so bad they don’t deserve a theatrical release in the slightest.
Airborne is one of those films, being a rancid airplane thriller which flaunts itself as a brutal horror watch. Unless just the sight of flying sends you into a tizzy, Dominic Burns’ empty thriller will leave you scrambling for a parachute and a quick access escape, jumping to safety while avoiding the entire monotonous flight. Even if there isn’t a parachute, jumping still is probably the better option, sadly.

Dominic Burns's Airborne starts out as a film that appears to be making the most out of the basic formula of films set aboard airplanes. Air traffic controller Malcolm (played by Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill), sends one last plane off into the night as he London skies grow ominous and stormy. The plane is not full and understaffed, but populated by characters that include a British gangster and his two bodyguards, a heartbroken alcoholic, a mysterious flight attendant who may be a terrorist, and a pair of soldiers with violent pasts, and a create containing an ancient vase that is about to be sold at auction for millions.
Airplanes might be, statistically, one of the safest ways to travel, but they’re also quintessentially good settings for a thriller. Characters are suspended thousands of feet above the ground, often over the ocean, for hours at a time, with no means of escape.

Killing Them Softly (18)
(Andrew Dominik, 2012, Us) Brad Pitt, Ray Liotta, James Gandolfini. 97 mins
With a cast like that, no prizes for guessing this is a gangster movie. But despite the well-trodden ground, it finds its own patch thanks to an up-to-date landscape of economic hardship and all-round criminal incompetence. Thus, Pitt's suave assassin breezes into town to clean up a mess, but only gets caught in a bigger one. It's tough, violent stuff, but with a certain sleazy finesse.
Savages (15)
(Oliver Stone, 2012, Us) Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Blake Lively. 130 mins
Stone gives up the politics and returns to crime, with a violent thriller involving two pot-growing California dudes and their run-in with a Mexican drug cartel.
Hysteria (15)
(Tanya Wexler, 2011, UK/Fra/Ger/Lux) Hugh Dancy, Maggie Gyllenhaal, 99 mins
The invention of the vibrator and the phenomenon of women's "hysteria" are viewed with jaunty decorum but some political savvy in this Victorian romcom.

*here be some spoilers. Director: Dominic Burns. Writer: Paul Chronnell. Cast: Mark Hamill, Craig Conway, Billy Murray, Sebastian Street, Simon Phillips, Julian Glover, Alan Ford, Gemma Atkinson, Rita Ramnani, and Andrew Shim. Chelsea Films is releasing Airborne across the United Kingdom on DVD July 30th. This is a film that puts a dozen passengers on a doomed flight across the Atlantic. One of their passengers is an ancient Chinese spirit that likes to possess the living. The other flight crew and trapped passengers are understandably shook up when the ghost of Chang starts offing characters via gory suicides. The action is almost laughable as the plot of a cursed vase threatens to ground this aircraft for good. And, something strange begins to happen as you watch this film. If you are a United Kingdom film fan, then you might notice that director Dominic Burns has recruited a few familiar faces.

This week sees the Oscar-winning Jean Dujardin (The Artist) in his follow-up performance, The Players, the 18-rated comedy that promises a very different side to his silent-film award-winning performance. We are also treated to the Carnegie Hall performance of blind pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii, who performed late last year a fantastic array of pieces, including one of his own, written in dedication to the memory of the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami in March last year.
My picks of the week:
The omnibus comedy, with multiple directors, The Players.
Nobuyuki Tsuki: Live at Carnegie Hall.

Here’s a rather nice exclusive to start the week as we can announce that Jason Mewes and Roxanne Pallett are to co-lead the forthcoming horror film, Devil’s Tower, currently shooting in Derbyshire.
You’ll know Mewes from his brilliant work in Kevin Smith’s films from the View Askewniverse and Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and seeing him take a leading role in a British movie is a very interesting move.
Pallett has been a long-standing star of Emmerdale, and most recently appeared in the BBC’s Waterloo Road, and this should be a great role for her to break through on the big screen.
Starring alongside them will be the Tony Award-winning Frances Ruffelle (Les Misérables), Jessica Jane Clement (The Real Hustle), Peter Barrett (UFO, Jack Falls), Jazz Lintott (UFO, Airborne), and Emma Buckley (How to Stop Being a Loser), in her first principal role.

If there’s one genre we do better than most in the UK, it’s the thriller.
The good thing about them: You don’t need $200m. to make them. (There aren’t any bad things about them.)
Tower Block hits the big screen this September, starring the brilliant Sheridan Smith (Two Pints of Lager), Jack O’Connell (Eden Lake, the upcoming 300: Battle of Artemisia), Russell Tovey (Being Human), and newcomer Kane Robinson, and we’ve been sent the first UK quad poster.
“Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil. When Jimmy is brutally murdered by two hooded figures, Becky, Kurtis, Neville and the other residents of the Serenity House tower block are witnesses to the killing but, fearing retribution, are too scared to give detectives any information and the police investigation is going nowhere.
One year later, someone has decided to take justice into their own hands.
“The Rise and Fall of a White Collar Hooligan” is a Brit crime drama written and directed by Paul Tanter, one of the diamond geezers behind the recent “Jack” trilogy. This should give a pretty good idea of what to expect, Tanter trying to mix football violence, gangsters, drugs and credit card fraud, with plenty of thick London accents along the way. Starring Nick Nevern (“Strippers vs Werewolves”) in the lead, the film, which lands shortly on region 2 DVD via Momentum, features a supporting cast full of semi-recognisable Brit character actors, including Simon Phillips, Billy Murray and Peter Barrett, all of whom appeared together in the recent Mark Hamill chiller “Airborne”. Nevern plays Mike Jacobs, a standard laddish football hooligan type, who runs into an old friend called Eddie (Phillips) during a good old fashioned riot. Hard up for cash and being pressured by his girlfriend to make something of himself,...

“Airborne” is a Brit horror directed by Dominic Burns (“Cut”), whose main draw is probably the presence of “Star Wars” favourite Mark Hamill, making his first appearance in a film from these shores. With a script by TV comedy writer Paul Chronnell, the film also stars a host of semi recognisable Brit talent, including Andrew Shim (“This is England”), Julian Glover (“Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade”), Alan Ford (“Snatch”) and Billy Murray (“Rise of the Footsoldier”). Having recently played the British Independent Film Festival, the film arrives shortly on Region 2 DVD via Chelsea Films. Hamill provides the opening narration, though doesn’t actually make it into the air himself, playing a traffic controller trying to keep track of a flight which suddenly diverts from its planned course during a wintery storm. The passengers (made up of a motley mix of gangsters, soldiers, the inevitable sexed up couple, a priest...

After spending many a year voice acting The Joker, Mark Hamill is making a rare appearance in front of the cameras in the Twilight Zone-esque thriller Airborne, his first ever starring role in a British film, which is coming out on DVD from Chelsea Films on 23rd July.
A high-altitude thriller in the tradition of such films as Executive Decision, Passenger 57 and Red Eye, with a good dose of Snakes on a Plane, Airborne also stars Julian Glover, Gemma Atkinson, Simon Phillips, Craig Conway, Billy Murray and Sebastian Street. Check out the synopsis, trailer and poster for Airborne below:
As a severe storm front rapidly closes in on the UK, all flights out of East Midlands airport are cancelled – all save Atlantic Sky Airways Flight 686, bound for New York. Shortly after take-off, several passengers become concerned when one of their number inexplicably goes missing. Their anxieties are further...

The Empire in Leicester Square played host (alongside four other cinemas around the country) to the third annual British Independent Film Festival last weekend, and we were there to catch the world premiere of British high-octane horror Airborne on the Friday evening, as well as a trio of films screened the following day.
As the title suggests, the festival celebrates independent filmmaking and the choice of features this year represented an encouraging mix of genres (the full list of films can be found on the festival’s website.)
Airborne
Boasting a number of familiar faces from popular genre films of the past (including ‘Last Crusade’ villain Julian Glover and a certain farm boy-turned Jedi Knight) Airborne follows a group of misfit passengers on a night flight to New York who get more than they bargained for during their stormy journey.
A number of stars from the film were in attendance on the Friday,...
