It's alright
brookenichole-980545 December 2020
I absolutely love Good Luck Charlie! The music, cast, jokes, and story is amazing. But this movie unfortunately wasn't. There were times when it kind of dragged and the jokes weren't landing. Everyone's character was bland and there was no Christmas. I was hoping for a great movie and got an okay one.

Pretty Good

Warning: Spoilers
I feel like this was a great movie, though it was a bit unrealistic. I have to admit the series is much better than the movie. During the movie I feel like there were many unnecessary parts and a few irritating parts. One part that I feel was annoying is when Amy and Teddy hitchhiked with those strangers who thought that Amy and Teddy were aliens. I feel that they made that part a bit long, it kind of irritated me. Another part that I thought was dumb was how Amy's parents locked Gabe, PJ, and Bob in a room. Although it was funny, Bob is a grown man and it was dumb that he let himself get locked in a room by his wife's mom. Amy's mom is a very unlikable character, as well. You feel like you want to punch her. The last thing I did not like about the movie is how they revealed that Amy was pregnant. I am not saying it was a bad idea to do that but by doing that they are kind of changing the point of the T.V series: CHARLIE! Other than these things, the movie was great. The movie was entertaining and funny. They also did a good job of not making the movie cheesy. Most T.V shows and movies on Disney are very cheesy. The movie was very exciting and it made you want to see more. I loved the part where Bob, Gabe and PJ started to fight in a war zone with paint balls. The main reason I loved this movie is that the whole family was working together to get Amy and Teddy to Palm Springs. It was about the entire FAMILY! Something we never see on Disney. The movie was unpredictable which made it exciting, and the acting was great. Finally this is a great family movie for you and your kids/ younger siblings would enjoy. This is appropriate for all ages. Overall, GREAT!

It's not the best Disney movie but neither the worst one. It's enjoyable and fun to watch but if you skip wouldn't be a problem.

One interesting Christmas for the Duncans
bkoganbing10 July 2019
You really have to be fans of the Good Luck Charlie show from Disney to appreciate the film. Viewing the show and knowing the characters will give you a leg up on those watching this film cold.

Saying that this is a typical family oriented Disney product about the Duncan family leaving cold and snowy Denver for a Palm Springs Christmas with the maternal grandparents Michael Kagen and Debra Monk.

But a mixup with the plane tickets has Eric Allen Kramer, Jason Dolley, and Bradley Steven Perry flying and Lynn-Allyn Baker and Bridget Mendler using whatever ground transportation they can scrounge. Baby Charlie goes with the guys.

Scrounge they have to as the two windup in all kinds of exotic adventures. Usually because Baker has a pugnacious personality and opens her mouth at the wrong time. They also at some point have to sing for their supper and Bridget Mendler can certainly sing.

Leaving Eric Allen Kramer with his supercritical mother-in-law ain't working out for him either. Jason Dolley gets a nasty sunburn, the kind kids from Denver don't get unless they like the desert. And Bradley Steven Perry regrets turning Grandpa on to video games.

Especially for fans of the show it's a nice Christmas movie. It works out kind of crazily for all.

Fun - Just Not One Of Disney's Best
TroyeEvans4 December 2011
"Good Luck Charlie: The Movie" is definitely not the worst kind of family comedy, though I have to admit I personally prefer the show to this. Still, it makes a great addition to the series as a little Christmas movie. I didn't plan to catch this in the first place. Then I decided I might as well watch this after I tuned to the Disney Channel looking for some fun after some serious work.

First of all, the story is a mix of unoriginal ideas. It wasn't boring. Not at all. Just unoriginal. A vehicle going downhill with a broken brake and some typical war games, these all sound familiar. So you should not expect anything fresh or special, but it is still fun for me. There aren't exactly any particular moments or scenes that I find dull or highly intriguing, but trust me, it is not a mess. The story fits together and is presented well.

Some scenes near the end of the movies are good, and I liked the ending too. And yes, there was the surprise which I am not going to ruin here. But I do hope that Disney will maintain the consistency and keep that "surprise" valid for upcoming episodes on the show.

I guess there is not a single reason for me to say this is a bad movie, but it really could've been much better, so I think I will put this in the middle of the scale. This is by no means a poor family comedy, considering there are "better" choices out there. If you're afraid of replaying awful memories of this year's little Miss Judy Moody, don't worry. This is a lot, a lot and a lot less disturbing.

Fun, warm and Christmassy
rosswilcock130 July 2019
I love the show so much and think it's one of the best Disney channel shows ever.

I'll be honest I wasn't to fond of not having the laughing track behind the comedy moments. However after. Awhile I got into it and really enjoyed the movie.

It brought me back to the Disney channel original movies of my childhood and I loved that.

I think it's great that they made the film look a little more Cinematic.

This is a great addition to the show and worth s watch for any good luck Charlie fan but defo no where near as good as the show it's self but it fits in nicely.

Trash
louwburger-6104225 December 2019
Bad acting, unrealistic dialogue, terrible camera work and the dumbest plot in the history of movies. Honestly, it just feels like an unnecessarily long episode of an awful sitcom.

I thought it was great
mischievouslyradiant9 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The show is funny, and I LOVE it, but it was so nice to not hear any laugh tracks. I thought this movie was great, personally speaking. I especially loved the airport scenes, Amy and Teddy's trip and the singing scenes (it was them fighting for the spotlight, so to speak, to earn money for food), the war games, and the ending.

I can't believe anyone would call this, "garbage." It's totally not unoriginal, or there would be a movie exactly the same (even the lines of the script, the amount of siblings, the same personality among the siblings and parents, and grandparents, and even Amy and Teddy's trip in winter in a junkie car and then with a weird alien-abducted couple going to Vegas for an alien convention or whatever).

Love the show, hated the movie, just awful
dcobbimdb2 December 2011
I love the show and was looking forward to seeing the Christmas movie after watching previews for almost two months. But OMG what a disappointment. Terrible writing and boring unoriginal story, but the biggest problem was it just wasn't funny, like the series is. The few semi funny moments were in the previews, so obviously they weren't fresh. The mom who is usually over the top anyway was a total train wreck, The grandma was someone you'd like punch in the face and then kick her while she's down. It's like a Griswold movie gone bad. After about 70 minutes I finally walked away in total disinterest while my wife and kids fell asleep, so I don't know how it ended nor do I care. Yeah I'm sure it ends on a positive note, but still no ending could make up for the 70+ minutes of pure garbage I watched. Such a disappointment...

I have no idea if it was the same writers who do the series or what but this movie really hurt the show which is one of my favorite family comedies. Really too bad. 1 out of 10

I Didn't Really Enjoy It
batmanlover-2455423 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly, I didn't like it. There was no laugh track, and overall, it was awful. It was a very cliché Christmas movie. So basically, here's the plot. The Duncans are going to be going on a Christmas trip over to the kid's grandparents on Amy's side of the family. Amy, who is overreacting about a family tradition of a Christmas star, is upset that they won't do the star tradition since they're going to the kid's grandparents in Palm Springs. Than, she starts acting like a 7 year old when Teddy says it's just a star or something. Than, she asks PJ to tell her how important the Christmas star is. Than, I forget what happens, but it was something where he didn't care or something. Than, Bob suddenly gets home, and than Amy asks Bob to tell Teddy how important the Christmas tree star is. Than, Bob justs says that the star is important, and that was about it. And after that, Amy goes into Gabe's room, seeing he is playing his Christmas present. She doesn't immediately ask him why he is playing it, and than she says, "Gabe"? But he doesn't listen. Than, Amy says that a few more times, but he still doesn't listen. And after that, she blocks his screen. Than some video game Christmas present shenanigans go on, and than she asks him is the Christmas star is important. And he says something like, "Yes it is. Why don't I tell everyone? In fact, why don't I call strangers and tell them?" And she is pleased with him, and than Gabe asks if he can take his game system with him. And Amy says no, and than she walks out of the room. Than he says (oh gosh I am going to hate myself typing in this curse word) and he whispers, "Damn it!" SERIOUSLY? How, and why? Disney needs to clean up their act. Seriously, a 10 year old with that kind of vulgar language? Wow, just wow. And the rest of the movie, it was just disappointing. Good job, Disney, you made another horrible movie.

Best Movie Ever.
7circus14 August 2023
THIS MOVIE IS PERFECT. With "Good Luck Charlie"'s normal great family dynamics, great songs throughout, and great motivations for all characters this is exactly why I love "Good Luck Charlie". I watch this movie every single year just because of how much joy it brings me. You must understand "Good Luck Charlie" before watching but it is worth watching every TV show ever to understand and enjoy this movie. The only issue I could mention is the fact that it isn't even longer, it feels that there should've been more focus on the Bob and Linda dynamic and more of a proper resolution to their relationship issues. But besides that this is a MUST WATCH.

Childhood favourite
hereuser2 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I see,... it's the typical adventure family comedy holiday movie ,but it has a special place in my heart ,since I've always adored the series Good Luck Charlie!

This movie was so interesting to me when I was 12 ,that you can have no idea. It might not be that great or that fantastic, but it does have something that only a Disney movie would have, which makes it so special.

It has some character to it since Teddy and her mom have a fight at some point and have to get along together and then you have Bob's problems with the parents of his wife. I personally love the comedy and holiday family vibe.

Good Luck Charlie, Your Movie Is a Mediocre
TheMysteriousReviewer23 July 2022
Good Luck Charlie, It's Christmas is just a kind of film that feels more of a special than a legitimate movie. Even the kind that would contain two plot lines in one movie that it doesn't get what it mostly wants to be. Is it about Teddy going to Florida? Is it about Teddy and Amy's road trip to Palm Springs? Is it a goofy comedy of Bob dealing with Amy's parents? All those have convinced I would oftenly look at this as one of those one-hour specials than a movie. That and the comedy is a hit and miss, the editing is limited and doesn't stand out from the show, the characters are either jerks or overly goofy, and the third act with the Grandparents element was unnecessary. But at least it's not the worst movie Disney Channel has produced since it's part of the continuation of the series. I'll just say that if you're a huge fan of the show, this would be for you. If not, then it's best to stick with the show. As a Disney Channel sitcoms nowadays go, at least I'd take Good Luck Charlie over others like Jessie, Dog With a Blog, I Didn't Do It, and other Disney sitcoms that suck nowadays. But hey, at least they weren't made into movies for the sake of making it worse for these shows.

Warm, funny movie!
jboyce-873212 December 2018
I thought this was a great movie to view with the family around the Christmas tree. I laughed several times. The only thing holding this back from 10 stars, is simply the fact of the acting. I think the series actors were better than this. Although the actors are the same, they performed differently. 8/10

My favourite movie!
valentine-465-82286129 April 2023
Honestly, this is my all time favorite movie. Sounds silly, but it always manages to make me feel better and remember the good old times back in 2011-2012. We've seen this plot before but I think it fits the characters and the main show very well. Both stories (the one of the girls and the one of the boys) are super fun and exciting to watch. I love how many things were happening and it just does not get boring or too slow. The acting is good even though there are some unrealistic parts but come on, it's a Disney movie! In general, it's a warm/cozy movie that does not necessarily need to be taken super seriously as I see some people do in the other reviews. If you are looking for a movie that is going to make you feel nice and nostalgic, this is it! Especially if you are fan of "Good Luck Charlie", you will love it. Can't wait to watch it again during the winter holidays or even sooner!

Maybe The Last Good DCOM
sjarretth4 September 2018
This, is a good movie. The cinematography and quality is actually pretty good. The plot is a LITTLE cliche, with the show's main protaginist, Teddy, and Amy getting separated from the boys & Charlie, and their quest to get to them. The chemistry between the actors is actually good. The story is a little cheesy, but is still enjoyable. Is this the last good Disney Channel Original Movie? Well, let's see. After this, we get Frenemies, Radio Rebel, Girl v. Monster, you get the pitcure. In conclusion, 8/10: A little cheesy, but still an overall good time. And a great treat for die-hard fans of the show.
