Half and half episode + another DJ appearance!

Let's get the stupid storyline out of the way and then I'll focus on the better storyline that honestly felt like it could've been written during the original "Roseanne".

The storyline involving Becky's relationship with the professor is a waste. Don't have her jumping into a relationship when she could've gotten into another relationship episodes ago and she turned him down because of conditions involved with her sobriety program. Turn down the professor too. Although this episode does kinda make me think that "The Conners" have turned the family into a bunch of soul suckers. The professor got into trouble at the school for being in a relationship with Becky and the man absolutely fell into a deep funk. Becky ends up dumping him at the end of the episode because of the funk he fell into although she did get him his job back.

Moving on. So Chuck made an appearance and here's where the excellent storyline takes place. I feel there's some harshness coming out of Darlene and Dan when they were going to check on Chuck because Dan had been trying to reach him and couldn't get ahold of him. They go into the house and it's a tv version of "messy house". Turns out Ann Marie is in the hospital and has had numerous strokes. Chuck's in unchartered waters because Ann Marie was the one that did stuff around the house. And no, Chuck's not being a "lazy man" and waiting for his wife to get back home in order to do this stuff. He's deeply depressed and worried that Ann Marie might die.

Gotta say I could've done without all the "best friend" talk coming out of Dan. It's clear the two guys have drifted apart. This series doesn't really try to establish the majority of the family as having outside friends unless it involves a person they're dating. Even if you can't get actors and actresses back, it'd be nice to see Dan talking about going and getting a drink with Chuck, with Arnie (!), Jackie talking about going to a movie with Crystal, Nancy etc.

So yeah, this episode was better because of Chuck's storyline and for that I'm giving it a 7.

I like them trying to give Chuck a storyline, but not this one. The stuff with Becky and her professor was really awkward too. A rushed character shift out of nowhere for him.
