Learn more- Controversy hits the "Dancing with the Stars" stage as the first elimination show of Season 12 includes two "can't-miss" performances by the embattled Chris Brown.
After a quick look at some of the performances from Monday, Tom tells us the first couple safe is Hines & Kym. Also coming back next week, Brooke tells us, are Chris & Cheryl! Sugar Ray & Anna, however, will learn their fate later in the hour.
Be our guest: Controversial singer Chris Brown takes to the dance floor for a performance of his "smash" single "Yeah 3X," and returns later to perform "Forever."
Back to the results: Some more highlights precede the announcements that Ralph & Karina and Kirstie & Maks are also safe. Finally, Chelsea & Mark get the news that they're "safe too," Tom says, much to Mark's relief.
Backstage, Chelsea says she'd like to go a little more traditional next week and Mark agrees that he'll "obey the law of the judges" and entertain the audience at the same time.
Meet the Troupe: We meet Peta, Tristan, Ted, Nicole, Oksana and Kiki, the members of the "Dancing with the Stars Troupe," which we'll apparently be seeing much of this season.
More results: Tom reveals that the next couple safe is Romeo & Chelsie, which means Mike & Lacey will find out their fate later.
The next couple remaining in the competition is Kendra & Louis. Petra & Dmitry are also safe. Wendy & "Sparkletooth" (that's Tony) will have to wait a little longer to find out their fate.
Finally, Tom lets Wendy & Tony off the hook, leaving Sugar Ray & Anna and Mike & Lacey hanging a bit longer, though they are "not necessarily the bottom two."
Len says he has great respect for both Mark and Sugar Ray, who have entertained the judges and the audience, and "they've done a great job."
And the first couple leaving is Mike & Lacey.
Mike thanks everyone while noting, "It sucks to be sent home first."
Tom reminds him he joins the likes of Jeffrey Ross, David Hasselhoff and Kenny Mayne, Mike says, "To be mentioned alongside the names like Hasselhoff and Mayne, it puts me pretty much on the Mount Rushmore of terrible dancers."
