In the late 60's, before becoming a baking sensation, Debbi Fields was one of the original "ball girls" assigned to guard the foul lines on the baseball field for the Oakland Athletics. She used her money from this job to buy the ingredients to make her cookies which she gave out to players and umpires at games.
