The first victim is named Hamilton Deane. Hamilton Deane was the playwright of the stage version of Dracula.
Because of this episode's "vampire" theme, several of the guest stars are actors who have well-known vampire-themed movies or TV shows on their resumes. Corey Feldman, who plays the bartender, was in the 1987 movie The Lost Boys (1987) (the song that plays in the background upon his first appearance in the episode, "Cry Little Sister," was also featured prominently in The Lost Boys). Tom Lenk, who plays one of Marlowe's roommates, was a regular on the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997). Kristy Swanson, who plays Marlowe, played the original Buffy in the 1992 movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992).
James Roday named the character Adrian Viccellio after a friend of his from high school.
In the photo of Marlowe's roommates, Eddie is played by Rob Compton, who worked as Robert Pattinson's photo double in the Twilight films.
Two of the characters in the episode are named Eddie and Jake, nicknames for the lead characters in another vampire story, Twilight, Edward and Jacob.
