The Fantastic Four has found its villain!
Following that earlier casting news, The Hollywood Reporter has now learned that English actor Ralph Ineson has been cast in the highly coveted role of Galactus in Marvel Studios' upcoming The Fantastic Four.
He joins a cast headlined by 3x Primetime Emmy-nominee Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic), Academy Award-nominee Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/Human Torch), and Primetime Emmy-winner Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/The Thing).
Rounding out the cast are 3x Primetime Emmy-winner Julia Garner (Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer), Primetime Emmy-winner Paul Walter Hauser, and 2x Academy Award-nominee John Malkovich.
Plot details are currently be kept under lock-and-key at the Baxter Building, but we do know that the film will be set in the 1960s, during the same time period the super team was originally conceived. However, whether or not the new film takes place within the same...

We finally have a face (and voice) for one of the biggest bad guys in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, as THR reports that Ralph Ineson will play Galactus the Devourer of Worlds in The Fantastic Four.
There had been rumblings that Javier Bardem was being eyed for the role of Galactus, but I’ve got to say that I’m more excited about Ralph Ineson tackling the role, particularly with his wonderful voice. The actor is always a highlight in everything I’ve seen him in, with fantastic roles in The Witch, The Green Knight, The Northman, and the recent First Omen movie. Eagle-eyed fans will know that Ineson has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before, playing a Ravager pilot in Guardians of the Galaxy.

British actor Ralph Ineson is the latest addition to the cast of Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four,” as the world-devouring cosmic villain Galactus.
The superhero quartet known as Marvel’s First Family will be played by Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (aka the Thing). The film will also feature Oscar nominee John Malkovich and Emmy winner Paul Walter Hauser, both in undisclosed roles, as well as Emmy winner Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer.

Paramount Pictures has debuted the brand new trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One, offering a chilling new look at the upcoming prequel that will take us back to the beginning of the saga and show us what happened the day the world went quiet.
Further plot details are currently under wraps, but the trailer does seem to promise one of this summer's most enjoyable horror rides and should add some much needed backstory to the growing series, which launched in 2018 with the John Krasinski-directed blockbuster A Quiet Place and continued that story with 2021's A Quiet Place Part II.
While the second installment revealed some of what happened on Day One, showcasing how the Abbott family managed to survive the meteor crash and subsequent alien invasion, the prequel will follow an entirely new batch of characters as they do their best to make it out of New York alive.

In the first week of May 2024, the first images of James Gunn's Superman were posted, with David Corenswet now inhabiting the role of the Man of Steel.
Looking at Corenswet, it's easy to see that this Superman is a throwback to Christopher Reeve's groovy interpretation of the Superman of 1978.
Not just a superhuman being but a likable dork with a heart of gold, the Superman that baby boomers fell in love with.
It's the opposite of what Zack Snyder envisioned with Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice -- an aging Superman feeling alienated from humankind and looking downright surly.
(The face of Henry Cavill's Superman, that imperious, disenchanted, loveless face, was a work of art. He would do a fantastic job as a villain for a change.)
Despite perfect casting, Snyder went full Emo Superman with his Dcu, adding a splash of moodiness...

AMC Entertainment Holdings has seen its first-quarter revenues edge down slightly on weaker box office in the wake of the dual Hollywood strikes last year, and its net loss narrow as Dune: Part Two and Godzilla x Kong played in its theaters.
On Wednesday, the parent of AMC Theatres reported overall revenues for the three months to March 31, 2024 hitting $951.4 million, just down from a year-earlier $954.4 million, which came amid a 6 percent overall decline in the first quarter North American box office for Hollywood films, compared to 2023.
The premiere on its screens of titles like Dune: Part Two and Kung Fu Panda 4 in early March helped offset a slow box office start this year in January and February. The net loss at the giant cinema chain came in at $163.5 million, which shrank a year-earlier loss of $235.5 million. And the diluted loss per-share was 62 cents, against a year-earlier loss per-share of...

At this point, everyone knows that MCU has hit sort of a rough patch, with 2023 being disastrous for Marvel Studios and Disney finding itself on the infamous list of the biggest box-office losers.
This is why Iger announced that they will be significantly reducing the output in the future, focusing on 2-3 movies a year and two shows.
Now 16 years in, MCU has 5 phases in total, with Phase 4 being lauded as the absolute worst. This is fair this is where they truly started to pump out content without really thinking about the stories or taking care of their introduced characters. By now, it’s widely acknowledged that the MCU has encountered a challenging period, notably with the dismal performance of Marvel Studios in 2023, leading Disney to feature on the list of major box-office flops.
Consequently, Iger disclosed plans for a substantial reduction in output, with a shift towards producing only 2-3 movies annually along with two shows.
After 16 years, the MCU spans across 5 phases, with Phase 4 often criticized as the weakest. This criticism is justified, as it marked a period of content saturation without sufficient regard for storytelling or character development. In contrast, Phase 3 is widely acclaimed as the pinnacle, a sentiment affirmed by recent Rotten Tomatoes data.

Marvel Studios may be struggling a bit right now, but there’s one aspect of the studio that has never been in question– the casting. Besides obvious standouts like Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Evans, there are just so many instances where Marvel Studios chose actors who would go on to define exactly who the character is. Take Chris Pratt, for example. His version of Star-Lord is often pitch perfect, and it really set the tone for the entire “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise.

Anya Taylor-Joy makes a very brief appearance in Dune: Part Two, but if and when Denis Villeneuve returns to helm his adaptation of Dune: Messiah, the Furiosa star will have a much more substantial role.

In Part One, we learn that Paul Atreides' mother, the Bene Gesserit Lady Jessica, is pregnant with the late Duke Leto's child. When the Fremen take in the survivors of the Harkonnen massacre, Jessica agrees to become the tribe's new Reverend Mother (she isn't really given a choice) and is "persuaded" to drink the Water of Life (a blue substance that's been extracted from a juvenile sandworm).
This gives Jessica incredible foresight and knowledge of previous generations, while also awakening similar abilities in her unborn daughter, who begins to communicate with and seemingly influence her mother's actions.

Arkane Austin’s Closure Could Prove to be a Ominous Shadow for Marvel’s Blade Developers Arkane Lyon
Microsoft and Xbox have announced the closure of several Bethesda studios. From Hi-Fi Rush’s Tango Gameworks to Redfall’s Arkane Austin, Microsoft is clearing house of studios that failed to meet massive expectations.
While Redfall flopped critically and financially, Hi-Fi Rush managed to surprisingly deliver after it was shadow dropped last year on January 25. Despite all of its success, Tango Gameworks were still shut down.
What does this mean for the remaining Bethesda studios? Arkane Lyon who are currently working on Marvel’s Blade, could be axed too if the title flops?
Arkane Studios’ Only Hope – Marvel’s Blade If it fails, what will happen to the studio?
The past few years from Xbox have been interesting, to say the least. Arkane Austin’s closure isn’t the first time Xbox have shut down studios they purchased.

Vin Diesel has been a part of a slew of major franchises that have built quite the reputation for the star in the industry. From films like Guardians of the Galaxy to classic blockbusters like the Fast and the Furious franchise, the actor has been a part of some great IP, giving him significant leverage in the industry.

However, despite all the say the actor would have in the industry, it is ultimately the studio that has the final say on certain things, especially when box office returns on a particular story seem less than satisfactory. Vin Diesel found himself in a similar issue with Riddick, the third installment in his science fiction franchise that started with 2000’s Pitch Black.

Earlier today, Warner Bros. and James Gunn shared a first look at David Corenswet fully suited up as the Dcu's Superman. Fans have had plenty to say about the costume and we're optimistic that a better shot will eventually follow.
After all, Kal-El hunched over in a chair with visible creases and loose-fitting parts of the suit surely aren't representative of what we'll see in theaters when Superman is released next summer. Well, here's hoping it's not, anyway.
Costume aside, when Corenswet - a relative unknown - was cast, many fans argued that he was too skinny to play the Man of Tomorrow.
If you still have any doubts, then we'd imagine the photo below will rid you of them. Corenswet's trainer has taken to Instagram to share a shot of the actor mid-workout and this guy is seriously jacked. He's got massive to play Superman and may even be...

Superhero movies aren't for everyone. There are many actors who have donned capes, cowls, and spandex, later admitting that they didn't enjoy the experience and wouldn't do it again.
However, only a small handful of performers have returned to roles they hated.
Some did so because they were contractually obliged. Others, meanwhile, wanted a second chance or were offered enough money to swallow their pride. Then, there were those who were seemingly gluttons for punishment and didn't know when to say "no." All of them are featured here.

Vin Diesel will begin production on the fourth installment of the Riddick franchise, Riddick: Furya, on August 26. The film will be shot in Germany, Spain, and the UK.
This follow-up to the sci-fi films Pitch Black (2000), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), and Riddick (2013) reunites Diesel with writer and director David Twohy. Diesel will reprise his role as the anti-hero Richard B. Riddick, a dangerous escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the galaxy.

After years of promises that it would happen, the fourth "Riddick" movie is, indeed, finally happening. Vin Diesel is set to return as the titular character in a new installment of the franchise titled "Riddick: Furya," with David Twohy again serving as director. For the fourth time since the turn of the millennium, Diesel will be playing in the sandbox that helped make him a movie star in the first place.
According to a press release, "Furya" will begin production on August 26, 2024, with filming set to take place in Germany, Spain, and the U.K. This brings the project full circle, as Diesel and Twohy have been trying to make it for some time. In 2019, the "Fast & Furious" star shared on Instagram that the script for "Riddick 4" was complete. It's taken nearly five years to get all of the ducks in a row but the duo has managed...

It’s Superman!
On Monday, “Superman” writer-director James Gunn released the first look at star David Corenswet as Superman in an Instagram post.
The photo depicts the Man of Steel sitting in what appears to be a luxury highrise condo in his iconic blue, red, and yellow costume. David Corenswet gets dressed as Superman one boot at a time in the first look at the actor in costume. Superman writer-director James Gunn revealed the image on social media Monday.
The unveiling of an actor in costume as Superman is a rare affair, akin to the first look at a new James Bond. Only three men have starred as the character in its nearly 50-year big screen career: Christopher Reeve (1978-87), Brandon Routh (2006) and Henry Cavill (2013-2022), not counting serials that played in movie theaters in the late 1940s and early ’50s.

Alejandro González Iñárritu's Oscar-winning film "Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)" was a pretty ballsy move to make in 2014. The film stars Michael Keaton as actor Riggan Thompson, a once-massive Hollywood action star who has aged out of action roles. Notably, Riggan starred in three crowd-pleasing superhero movies about Birdman, a Batman-like vigilante. Keaton, of course, played Batman in 1989, 1991, and 2023.
Riggan is set to star in a high-profile Broadway production, hoping to prove to himself and the world that he is a pliable and capable actor, not merely a nostalgia-laced superhero figure. There is a lot of dialogue in "Birdman" about how superhero movies are the antithesis of art and that superhero actors are aggressively robbed of their thespian instincts. Good actors, Riggan complains, are ripped from meaningful projects and thrust into commercial FX bonanzas where they are expected to do little beyond pose and wear silly costumes.

This article contains spoilers for Psych.
It’s easy to forget sometimes that Psych is a show that often involves murder. The procedural comedy-drama is well known for its running gags, irreverent humor, and the absurd scenarios that faux psychic Shawn Spencer (James Roday Rodriguez) and his best friend/crime-solving partner Gus (Dulé Hill) often found themselves in, all of which can overshadow the seriousness of the crimes they’re trying to solve. However, the series proves it’s worthy of the drama genre descriptor more often than we realize when it allows itself to go to darker places than we expect.
The most obvious example of this in the series is the Yin/Yang arc. Shawn and Gus go up against these serial killers several times throughout the series, and often find themselves and those they care about directly in harms’ way. Like many serial killers, Yin (Peter Weller...

Zack Snyder’s dreams of rebooting the entire DC universe were short-lived, and the filmmaker was pushed out before he could create a conclusive enough world. While fans were disappointed to see him go, they have pretty much backtracked and are excited to have James Gunn helm the superhero universe now.
James Gunn (Image: Gage Skidmore | Wikimedia Commons)
A former Marvel director, Gunn has already proven his capabilities in the genre and will be directing the first Dcu film, Superman. However, fans are not happy after hearing the recent update about the movie and believe Gunn is making the same mistake as Snyder.
James Gunn’s Alleged Mistake Akin to Zack Snyder’s Batman faces Superman in Batman vs Superman
James Gunn and Zack Snyder are both auteurs and incredible filmmakers. Yet, DC fans have not been kind to Snyder for his dark take on the mythos and seem to hate him with a passion.

Many fans would recognize Kurt Russell from Guardians of the Galaxy as Ego the Living Planet, but did you know that he almost joined the Star Wars franchise? Rumors say that he was offered a role, and he declined it, a statement the actor firmly debunked.
Kurt russell as Ego the Living Planet in Guardians of the Galaxy
It would be intriguing, though, to imagine Russell in Star Wars playing Han Solo or Luke Skywalker, both parts he actually auditioned for. Perhaps it was not really for him because the circumstances at that time were not in his favor.

Rotten Tomatoes has shared an updated ranking of the "300 Best Movies of All Time" which they say are "reviewed and selected by Tomatometer-approved critics and Rotten Tomatoes users."
At #1? 1997's L.A. Confidential, a movie which has little to nothing in common with superheroes! However, comic book adaptations do factor into the list, with 11 in total making the cut.
According to the review aggregator, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is the best superhero movie ever, coming in at #21. Released in 2018, the Sony Pictures title grossed $384.3 million and won a "Best Animated Feature" Oscar in 2019 (making it the first non-Disney/Pixar movie to do so since 2011).
Also included in the list are The Dark Knight (#51), Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (#81), Spider-Man: No Way Home (#128), Avengers: Endgame, (#142), Iron Man (#145), Black Panther (#225), Logan (#228), Guardians of the Galaxy (#254), Thor: Ragnarok (#274), and The Avengers (#286).
Needless to say, we're sure these selections will generate some discussion!

This article contains major spoilers for Sugar episode 6.
Virtually every “spoiler-free” Sugar review that ran in advance of the Colin Farrell-starring detective series’ premiere on Apple TV+ mentioned that the project featured a big twist. While one might consider it poor taste to “spoil” that a story even contains an enormous twist, it’s hard to blame the reviewers on this one.
The twist at the center of Sugar is so wild, so out-of-left-field, and so paradigm-shifting, that it’s almost impossible not to acknowledge. It would be like trying to write about Clifford the Big Red Dog while avoiding the fact that it contains a big red dog. The problem with letting the audience know that a big twist was coming, however, is that it took forever for the show to reveal it. Four whole weeks after the two-part April 5 premiere, in fact!

Seldom have actors in the history of Tinseltown left as much of an enduring legacy as Marlon Brando. The late actor’s legacy can still be felt in the film industry, thanks to his iconic roles in flicks like The Godfather and A Streetcar Named Desire. But one of his most elusive and challenging roles was in Francis Coppola’s 1979 epic war movie, Apocalypse Now.
Did we mention that this was the role that paved the way for one of the most enduring villains in recent superhero cinema?

Josh Brolin brought Thanos to life in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) in a way that had never been seen before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And according to the actor himself, his inspiration came from Brando’s portrayal in Apocalypse Now.
After all, Brando pushed the envelope with his portrayal of rebellious military officer Colonel Kurtz.

Spoilers for "X-Men '97" follow.
You may not remember that the original "X-Men" cartoon from 1992 kicked off a flurry of '90s Marvel cartoons sometimes known as "The Marvel Animated Universe." This universe is less well known than the contemporary DC Animated Universe ("Batman: The Animated Series" up to "Justice League Unlimited"). The DC cartoons were overseen by a single creative team, so the connections were organic and culminated in story arcs. The Marvel cartoons, though? They all aired simultaneously (rather than in succession like the DC ones) and had different creators, so the most intersection was occasional crossovers.
"X-Men '97" remains laser-focused on the marvelous mutants, but it hasn't been shy about including cameos from other corners of the Marvel Comics setting. Episode 6, "Lifedeath – Part 2" featured Ronan The Accuser (you might remember him as the villain in "Guardians of the Galaxy"). Episode 7, "Bright Eyes," saw Rogue butt heads with Captain America.

Since Gunn & Safran assumed control of the Dceu and rebranded it as the Dcu, a significant faction of fans who appreciated Snyder’s vision has been discontent. Gunn faces ongoing criticism and is frequently compelled to justify a movie that has yet to be completed or released.
The latest controversy revolves around allegations of potential excessive use of CGI in the forthcoming ‘Superman’ film.
The production schedule for upcoming Dcu projects is well-known by now, highlighting Gunn’s active involvement in all forthcoming shows and films. ‘Superman’ was the second project to begin production this year, closely followed by ‘Creature Commandos,’ which is nearing completion. Additionally, ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 and ‘Waller’ are slated to be shot concurrently as TV series.
Fans expressed concern when Gunn revealed he would write and direct all episodes, fearing it might detract from his focus on the ‘Superman’ production. Some argued that since ‘Superman’ was initially supposed to finish filming early,...

Ever since Gunn & Safran took over Dceu and rebooted it into Dcu, a large portion of the fandom that liked Snyder’s vision was mad. Gunn is constantly under attack and forced to defend the movie that isn’t even remotely close to being finished or released.
The most recent controversy and accusation is targeted toward the potential overuse of CGI in the upcoming ‘Superman’ movie.
The production schedule of the upcoming Dcu projects is fairly known at this point, and it’s clear that Gunn is working hard to take an active part in the development of all shows and movies to come. ‘Superman’ was the second project to start production this year, with ‘Creature Commandos’ almost being done. Say hello to sequel season.
That might as well be the nickname for this summer’s slate of potential blockbusters. Over the next four months, Hollywood is rolling out what it hopes will be a winning mix of follow-ups, reboots and spinoffs from tested franchises like “Despicable Me” and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it looks to reinvigorate the shaky movie theater business.
Last summer flipped the script: New properties, such as “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer,” ruled, while entries in aging series, like “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” and “Mission Impossible 7,” missed the mark. This time out, the tried-and-true may yet prevail. Original offerings like Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt’s action-comedy “The Fall Guy” and Kevin Costner’s Western “Horizon: An American Saga” will attempt to lure audiences. But analysts anticipate that overly familiar brands — “Despicable Me 4,” Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine,” and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2...

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson recently made his grand return to wrestling with the WWE, but the star might be taking his "heel" persona a little too far these days.

That's the latest scuttlebutt according to extensive reporting by Umberto Gonzalez of The Wrap, who paints an alarming picture of habitual lateness, deeply unprofessional behavior, and producing inexperience in several crucial roles. Just before Avengers: Infinity War, many were pleased at the new life breathed into the Thor series when What We Do in the Shadows director Taika Waititi took on the undertaking of a big-budget franchise film. Thor: Ragnarok was a massive hit and it seemed like this new direction was a welcomed one for the God of Thunder. After Thor’s arc in the Infinity Saga seemingly concluded in Avengers: Endgame, it looked like some strange new adventures were on the horizon as he joined up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Then, Thor: Love and Thunder would bring back Waititi and an impressive cast for what would ultimately have a less-than-stellar reception.
