Not a WW2 Movie ... More Like WW2 times in Italy Movie
chrissso21 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
WW2 plays a role in this film but not a dominating role. Actually this film is about life in a small Italian village during WW2 times. It is about rural life ...about being poor ... about and friends and family ... about having dreams ... and mostly the grace of music.

I think this is an exceptional movie! It is beautifully filmed and acted and the soundtrack is perfectly executed! And the locations are gorgeous. It is a film that understands what it was like in rural Italy in 1942 and it will transport you back in time. Finally the characters are ever so rich!

This is a film that understands that life is mostly tragic but you can still have your dreams.

Highly recommended! 8 of 10!

Not the best Italian WWII movie out there
borgolarici24 January 2022
If you are looking for a movie set in WWII Italy, this could turn out to be kind of a miss. The main problem is that it looks like a perfect theatrical performance, which is a bit alienating to see on the big screen. Acting in my opinion is typically theatrical, good but not suitable for TV or cinema.

Clearly inspired by movies such as Amarcord or 900, however, it does not prove to be up to par and has a few clichés too many.
