Seen it all before....

This shortfilm/promo/music video contains graphic violence, body modification scenes, surrealism, nazi symbols, naked female bodies etc. This is after all a promo for Marilyn Manson.

But the problem is that we seen it all before and better then this. That actor Shia LaBeouf is the director is the biggest surprise but unfortunately playing David Lynch is not that original.

Of course Shia LaBeouf is not the only one doing this, and truth to be told this film was more interesting then Kanye Wests Runaway (2010. Just wished that Shia LaBeouf should've stayed away from the surrealism and done something else.

Brought forward something different visually, that Marilyn Manson never done before when it comes to music videos. But perhaps it was just another corporate gig by LaBeouf; he was a hired gun for Marilyn Manson?

However, there are better videos/promos then this, look at for example, Chris Cunningham, Mark Romanek, Spike Jonze etc.

It would be interesting to know what qualifies Born Villain as a short movie instead being merely a video to music by Marylin Manson. Following that logic, there would be an unlimited pool of titles flooding over IMDb.com.

Anyway, Marylin Manson left his trace in contemporary music, i'd even dare to say pop music. I've enjoyed it at a certain point, but came to believe that it addresses a certain age group rather than a target group. Staying in a specific niche poses challenges, one of them being - rediscovering yourself. Born Villain is an attempt at that.

The director Shia LaBeouf offers another glimpse at the path of madness and pleasure. It shows some very graphic images but fails to offer anything new in Marylin Manson's output.
