In "Sebastian," The Afterparty Season 2 Episode 5, the unpretentious and fun Sebastian's story is revealed. Initially criticized for its unimaginative plot and dull cryptocurrency portion, the episode highlights that Sebastian is not a bad guy, but Edgar is. The portrayal of Edgar as more villainous due to Sebastian's story remains to be seen, but it is true to the character. Edgar's death is a relief, similar to the murder in The Afterparty's first season. Xavier (Dave Franco)'s performance was disappointing, but it was satisfying to see him killed, even without knowing the killer's identity. The Afterparty Season 1 features a delightful cameo by Ben Schwartz, Yasper, who is serving his life sentence in the same prison as Sebastian's con cousins. The heist mechanics are executed well, with suspense, intrigue, baseball cards, and Connect 4 games. The story revolves around Sebastian's fake British accent, with Jack Whitehall effectively shifting between the two. Danner enjoys interrogating him, and their banter, which annoys Aniq, is another highlight. Seb's version of the episode is the weakest yet, with a lack of execution and hasty narration. This episode is similar to the previous season, but the storytelling falters. The killer's identity remains distant, and clues are expected to be revealed in the next two episodes. Episode 4 ends with Sebastian pretending to be Edgar's partner, but everyone knows he's been fired. Hannah gives Aniq and Danner an excuse to suspect him, while Isabelle is convinced that Grace and her family orchestrated the murder. Zoe announces that the "devil's trumpet" was used to kill Edgar, and her parents act strangely when they hear this. Isabelle is still unsure about the family, and Grace discovers a missing flower from one of her centerpieces. Sebastian, who thinks he's in a Bond film, is reluctant to answer Aniq and Danner and waits for the police. Meanwhile, Aniq and Zoe's theories diverge as time passes. Sebastian, a Southern California native, and Edgar, a thief, have been together since childhood. They started a hedge fund with money borrowed from Edgar's dad, but Edgar never trusted Sebastian and kept his crypto in a safe. The episode's execution and narration are lacking, and the show's overall quality is disappointing. Edgar was angry with Sebastian for holding back 20% of their capital from the crypto investment, leading to his firing. He used the Tunder card as an example to demonstrate his disrepair of Edgar's ideas. Sebastian devised a plan to take revenge on his best friend, using the wedding as a distraction. He planned to break into his safe and steal from it. Sebastian met his cousins in prison, including Yasper, who played the role of Edgar's murderer. Sebastian's plan involved distracting Edgar during the wedding by breaking into his safe, stealing his belongings. However, he didn't know the code to the last lock in the safe, which could be Edgar's dad's horse. After the rehearsal dinner, Sebastian visited Hannah to find out the horse's name, but was uninterested. He went to their mother, Isabelle, to ask about the horse. Isabelle was furious and threw him out, leaving him in the bushes with Aniq, causing him to damage his image in front of Zoe's family.
