Fantastic visuals, very poor story.

First off, i would like to commend the bravery of this movie, because it has attempted to show a era not yet done on film, plus done in full latin and reconstructed Ilyrian language, reminds me a lot of Primo Remus.

I'm sure that like myself, many other history buffs noticed some really fantastic niche details in the costumes and other aspects of the visual part of this film, and I think those are worth praise, to name one example, Ilyrians singing the traditional balkan Ganga song when they march upon the fort.

Story though, is a different matter, it's done poorly and is confusing to say the least. Shame.

Warning: Spoilers
Great movie. One small portion of Roman era shown without the glamour confines of documentary and Holywold historical epics from the 60/70 ies and action packed movies like Gladiator. Excellent photograpy, great actors, outstanding down-to-earth story about taxes and sheer stupidness of incompetant fools in charge of situation which they are not qualified for. Movie was produced with limited resources and without grandiosity but it managed to captivate the essence it tries to convey with excellent scenes and authentic behaviour which would not be possible if this was made in Holywood. Grit, hardness, hopelessness show some of the reality from the era.

poor attempt on such an important topic

I walked out of the movie after enduring 50+ minutes. It was painful trying to catch up wtf the story was about. I believe that if one was to go to any elementary school and offer a free iPhone and $200 budget the outcome would have been better.

Such a waste of time, money and resources. They were probably spent on partying, drinks and good meat on the locations where the film was shot.

For that part it is definitely Illyrian.

I wish some serious and real filmmaker would give it a try. After all the Illyrians were such a big headache to the Romans for a good few centuries. They must have been a match, and not some semi-wild people popping up like mushrooms in the forest as the author had it shown in this movie.

Wrong History Books read by the writer

As an early comment I read, the Illyrians were real pain in the a$$ for the Romans, King Agron and Queen Teuta gave them hell, but the author of the movie decided to depict the Illyrians as some wild barbarians, when in fact they had boats and navy, pirating Roman ships, they were the best ship makers at those times... In my opinion the author chose a wrong timeline for the storyline... Who ever funded this project, left without any profits.

The Balkan Alps, are mainly in Albania, Monte Negra and North Macedonia, they were a lot of tribes living in those heights, but bare in mind that there were more living in the shore.
