The Meg's success has got some people wondering if there's gas in the oversized snake tank.
Resident Evil franchise masterminds Constantin Film and Jb Pictures have got a Titanoboa movie in development. The movie is looking to The Meg for inspiration as it plans to feature the giant extinct snake coming back from the dead somehow to wreak havoc, likely on some wholly unprepared humans.
The Titanoboa movie is being fast-tracked, according to Deadline, and will begin filming next year. There are no cast details to share with you yet, but Tony Giglio is penning the script right now. Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer, the team working to make Monster Hunter a success, are behind the film.

A remake of Kindergarten Cop, that may lead to a TV series. This time: the hunt is on for, er, a flash drive...
And we thought the week had been light on remake stories. Apparently not.
The latest? The Arnold Schwarzenegger comedy vehicle, Kindergarten Cop, is getting a remake, although this won't be with the big screen in mind. Rather that the Ivan Reitman-directed original is getting a video on demand refresh. If it works out, there are apparently plans for a TV series as well.
Showbiz411 reports that the outline of the new film will see whoever takes on Arnie's role working with an Indian sidekick by the name of Sanjit. The pair will be hunting for a missing flash drive, which has been mislaid somewhere in the witness protection programme. And for reasons of it needing to be there else the film's title wouldn't work, said drive...

Sounds like Kevin Bacon is really wanting to saddle up and reprise his role of Valentine McKee from the 1990 classic Tremors. How do we know this? Well, we heard it straight from the horse's mouth, and now you can too!
During a fan interview on The Huffington Post, Bacon was questioned about the cult favorite hit. His answer was pretty surprising. "I have a real dream right now. I want to reboot [Tremors]," says Bacon of the film which is getting the reboot treatment from Don Michael Paul (Lake Placid: The Final Chapter).
Given his next comments we can only assume that he wants to reprise his role and Not reboot the film as a director or what not. "To see the character 25 years down the line. Seeing what that guy may have become. When I started thinking about this, I hadn't seen the movie in 25 years so I went back and watched it recently.

A Marine unit stationed in the hostile province of Helmand Afghanistan wilderness faces a harrowing mission as they try to help a fugitive woman reach safety from the Taliban in Jarhead 2: Field Of Fire. Packed with intense action, thrills and the gritty reality of war, the all-new movie Jarhead 2: Field Of Fire is inspired by Jarhead, the highly praised feature film that follows a naïve young recruit and his platoon mates from the intensity of boot camp to being deployed to a lonely outpost in a surreal desert setting. Jarhead 2: Field Of Fire transports the action to the brutal battlefields and dusty villages of Afghanistan, where a band of Marines risk their lives to save a woman fleeing certain death at the hands of her Taliban pursuers.

Somewhere in the executive offices over at Universal, someone said something along these lines: "You know what property we really need to maximize? 'Jarhead.' " And so they did just that, deciding to make a follow-up to the 2005 movie, that isn't a sequel, so much as a movie "inspired" by the Sam Mendes film. And though this trailer dropped a while ago, it's just caught our attention now and we can't be the only ones to bear witness to this. Directed by Don Michael Paul ("Sniper: Legacy," "Lake Placid: The Final Chapter") and starring Josh Kelly, Cole Hauser, Bookeem Woodbine, Esai Morales, Stephen Lang and a bunch of other people, this one combines cheap locations and alt-rawk rhythmz for one testosterone-fueled experience. Here's the synopsis: Battle-scarred and disillusioned by the war, Corporal Chris Merriman is put in charge of a unit whose next mission is to resupply a remote outpost on the edge of.

Last week we learned that Don Michael Paul (Lake Placid: The Final Chapter) is working on a reboot of Tremors for Universal, though specific details at the time were nonexistent. Hungry for more? Well then, read on for a whole lot more!
Per Movie Hole, it looks like the film will be more of a sequel than a complete remake, as the site reports that Michael Gross will once again be reprising the role of monster-killer Burt Gummer. Gross has to date appeared in every film in the franchise and even the short-lived TV series it spawned.
The new film, tentatively titled Tremors 5, is currently casting for a September kick-off in South Africa.

One of the more fun comedy horror creature feature franchises from the past 25 years has got to be Universal's 'Tremors' series. After first appearing back in 1990 with Kevin Bacon the underground dwelling beasts then continued to evolve over the course of the next two movies, spun off into a short-lived TV series and then even prequelised back in 2004. But it's been a whole decade since the Graboids have made another appearance. But 'rumblings' have now shaken out news that 'Lake Placid: The Final Chapter' helmer Don Michael Paul is reportedly working on a long-awaited sequel....

Deep under the surface of Hollywood ideas, treatments and discarded scripts roams something hideous, gliding blindly and occasionally breaking the surface whenever enough buzz about it is at a certain pitch. It never takes much noise, just the aloud musings of one executive as he ponders, “Reboot.”
Not long ago, the reboot has replaced the remake as the Hollywood trend for critics to complain about. And this most recent news doesn’t do anything to sway opinion toward the positive. Arrow In the Head is reporting that director Don Michael Paul is talking about taking over the Tremors franchise.

There's been talk of a new version of Universal's wormy creature feature Tremors for several years now, but it finally sounds like the wheels are in motion. Filmmaker Don Michael Paul (Lake Placid: The Final Chapter, Jarhead 2: Field of Fire) recently took to his blog with a rather interesting announcement.
"After I finish up Company of Heroes: The Fourth Reich, I will be headed to Johannesburg, South Africa, to reboot the Tremors franchise for Universal. Big year ahead, and I’m excited to keep it going with the support of all you genre movie lovers out there."
In case you've been living under a rock for the past 25 years (yes, it's been that long since the first one came out) Tremors told the tale of the natives of a small isolated town who defend themselves against strange underground creatures which are killing them one by one.
In other news.

Don Michael Paul is making a decent living directing sequels that head to VOD and DVD. It began with Lake Placid: The Final Chapter and, according to his blog, he has already shot Jarhead 2: Field of Fire and Sniper: Legacy (the Sniper movies are still going?!). Soon, he's apparently going to be doing a Tremors reboot for Universal. Yes, a new take on the 1990 film - arguably one of the best monster movies of the '90s - that starred Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward and concerns underground worm-like creatures with mouth tentacles that ate people.

The fourth film in the Lake Placid killer croc series is called The Final Chapter. But does it bring the saga to a close? Matt finds out...
“What’s your favourite Lake Placid film?”
You’d be surprised at how many conversations don’t start this way. It’s not for a lack of trying on my part, but it’s a question that seems to bring an awkward air to interactions and induce a strange, saddening silence. I think the problem is that when people think of the Lake Placid films, they think of one complete narrative, rather than four separate films. When asked to consider them as individual entities, they become confused and don’t know how to respond.
Or it could be that most people have only heard of the first one. It’s difficult to know.

Lake Placid: The Final Chapter returns to Lake Placid one last time, until they decide to return again in another ill-conceived direct-to-dvd sequel. In this “adventure,” a team of poachers led by Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street) and a bus full of horny co-eds are all heading toward Lake Placid. The poachers want to catch a giant crocodile to sell for millions, and the co-eds are just looking for a good time at the beach. One by one, nearly everyone gets picked off by the giant crocodiles with some of the most fake CGI deaths ever seen outside of the Syfy channel.

Something with a bit of bite that has arrived on DVD here in the UK is Don Michael Paul's 'Lake Placid: The Final Chapter'. The final installment (apparently) in the croc based horror franchise which began all the way back in 1999 with Steve Miner's excellent little comedy horror was released this week which you can now pick up on DVD and enjoy in the comfort of your own home. To commemorate the release we have a little infographic to bring you highlighting all the important facts and figures from the entire series from lost limbs to Spring Breakers chomped! Elisabeth Rohm, Yancy Butler, Paul Nicholls, Poppy Lee Friar, Benedict Smith, Caroline Ford, Scarlett Byrne and horror star Robert Englund ('Strippers vs Werewolves') all star. When it comes to reviewing a Part 4, I often like to start out with a quick and hopefully helpful little "franchise history lesson," just to bring everyone up to speed -- but is that really necessary at this point? Probably not. What was once a strange but amusing little matinee movie from a well-known TV producer has (somehow, slowly) turned into a cable TV sequel franchise that exists for nothing more than to fill a random Saturday night slot with a lot of silliness and a bunch of crocodile madness. Congrats to the goofily-named Lake Placid 4: it not only qualifies under those criteria, it's also the most stupidly entertaining entry in this non-franchise since the first one... which wasn't all that great but hey, people who love movies about man-eating crocodiles* can't afford to be all that discerning. But for the sake of tradition: Lake Placid (1999), written by David E. Kelley...

Norman Bates’ mother has been found!
Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) has been cast in A&E’s Bates Motel as Norma Louise Bates, our sister site Deadline reports.
The straight-to-series Psycho prequel, from executive producers Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Kerry Ehrin (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood), is a contemporary exploration of Norman Bates’ formative years, his relationship with his mother and the world they inhabit. Momma Bates is described as passionate, compelling and smart.
The project marks a return to TV for Farmiga, who starred in USA Network’s Touching Evil with Jeffrey Donovan.
