I do not know about the manwha, so I cannot comment on how the anime may have changed it.
The visuals, music -> A. Pretty good, not a low budget, and has a sense of style. CG is obvious, but we also know that this studio isn't ghibli or disney level rich so it's passable.
Personally, I like watching "revenge"/"muteki" anime, so I was excited for this. However, there were too many issues in which I couldn't enjoy it... It had potential to be good, but perhaps they cut a lot of scenes?
The problems: I understand this is about his story, but female characters are disregarded entirely. Specifically, we know from the start that he needs money with multiple reasons regarding his family, in which his sister needs school tuition and his mother needs medical fees.
This itself is a good start, as it explains why both his mother and sister would not be able to work with time or health constraints, which leaves the main character to support them both.
However; these facts are just stated, and since there is no scene that effectively highlights the connection of his family relationships, it's hard to feel empathy towards the main character. Him complaining his weakness just feels very pick-me.
Another problem is that the main character always sees himself justified. There are flaws to him, as with any other realistic character, but he blames it all on his physical weakness. People look down on him, as his rank is bad and he used to be weak, and the anime tries to convince you that everyone is against him. The mindset of the "world against me" is very (again,) pick-me.
Why do huge corporations care about this man? People fawning over how hot he his is after he is stronger is also very annoying; if people likes him now, then people would have liked him before, as they don't know his level change just by looking at him (unless his haircut shocked the world).
He tries to be "lone-wolf" and thinks that's the best course of action since "people look down on me"; the world is not very nice to him, so he takes the "eye for an eye" motto and blames others easily. However, we never seen a good reason for his complex, as it was true that he was really really weak in the beginning and thus was looked down upon. There was a reason there, and it made sense; no one looked down on him just because he existed. The main character also knew this, but his recent actions do not align with his perspective before. This could happen with characters, such as Eren from AoT, but in this show, there was no explanation on why he changed from looking down on himself to looking down on the world, assuming everyone is out to sabotage him.
There are other character flaws, but I don't want to spoil too much.
All in all, the OP and ED are banging, and it's an ok show to watch if you're tired, if you went through something and want to envision yourself as him with world vs yourself and winning, or is fine with pick-me's. If you start questioning the reasoning behind the characters, there's too many flaws. The supporting characters are not supporting. How the world runs does not make sense. One man vs the world just because he's him is unrealistic and the show justifying it is annoying. Very edgy.
I sincerely hope people watch this as fiction and enjoy it while acknowledging the flaws, and that kids do not actually copy his mindset since there's a lot of red flags that are brushed away.
