It's Snoop. What did some of y'all expect? Disney?!?!
DatBoiRan25129 January 2024
It's Mighty Ducks as told by Snoop Dogg... brought to you by Raisin Canes. It never once claimed to be a kids movie. I see people literally stating they got offended and didn't make it past the opening credits. This movie wasn't made for you. In fact, you should just listen to the song they walk out to at halftime during the last game, because it's talking about you: "Little B-A-P-A-B's"

The message and theme of the story is actually pretty straightforward and heartfelt. Once his character gets through the first act of being a washed up, selfish primadonna, our hero goes through a clear - albeit predictable - character arc. Some of the humor is actually pretty self-aware and dare I say - funny... They weren't going for an Oscar here. It's just a 90 minute junk food movie with a decent message shrouded behind adult language and humor. If you don't like it, whatever. But anyone giving it a 1/10 simply because it lives up to what it promises within the first 2 seconds of pressing play is a total B-A-P-A-B.

Very typical, but very enjoyable.
Jim_Screechy6 February 2024
There are now new concepts here and no one is winning any Oscars.

It's a plotline so threadbare even the homeless won't wear it, but its fun, lighthearted and entertaining. For the most part it's well written and well acted. Snoop Dogg does a great job with the meterial and delivery and he brings much of the content to life with his character and expression.

Yes, there is a lot of profanity, it's Snoop Dogg for Christ sake! What did you expect. Omar Epps is pretty good too, probably one of his better supporting roles to date. The rest of the cast are pretty forgettable though they all deal with the content sufficently well.

If your sensitive about profanity DON'T WATCH IT! It's not for worse if you can't handle kids dropping MF like an OG.

THIS MOVIE REMINDS ME THAT I'M GETTING OLD.
aubreyloving27 January 2024
As brother of a darker color, I'm glad that it's not just another slave movie or, another rise from struggle movie and or just the stereotypical movie that's suppose to appeal to me. I've seen em all and I'm all over those movies.

This movie wasn't really for me either. But I watched it. Didn't help me or improve my life in any way. But I appreciate the fact that something different was presented. It's too vulgar and way too out of touch for me and I couldn't sit down and watch this with my preteen son. I know he probably speak like a lot of the kids in this video when I'm not around, but if I ever found out, It would be a problem. I couldn't promote the behavior, disrespect and language that a lot those kids displayed. It definitely screams FATHERLESS. Also grownups carrying on as they did is insane. Speaking and acting like that in the presence of those kids, right on. It definitely screams FATHERLESS.

You do what you will with your kids and I'll do the same with mine. That's exactly why this movie is reminding that I'm getting old.

Wait for it ............ A ZINGER!
thejdrage27 January 2024
I am a long time fan of Snoop Dogg. This is a fun movie that has a lot of salty language from every section of the cast, so, get used to it and be rewarded with some brilliant one liners that will have you laughing out loud!

It's a sports movie only in that it does show what sportsmanship is about - trying your best to win, but being gracious all the way around - just like I envision Snoop Dogg to be in his real life. (Make sure to watch the credits!)

There are two great dogs in it! Pit bulls who are very well behaved and sweet. They are actually kind of funny too...

Is this a movie for kids? Not really. But it is a fun movie for adults who wish their kids' coaches are a bit more like "Two Js".

And an absolute must for any Snoop Dogg, Omar Epps fan. Also a good part for George Lopez too. It fit him well. All around, the cast was fun to watch and root for - or against! Enjoy!

Movie made for popcorn entertainment; delivers what is promised
NS-movie-reviews3 February 2024
First of all, anyone complaining about the language of this movie just wants to complain. It is rated R for language, provides a disclaimer explicitly about language, and it stars Snoop Dogg. So if you want to ignore all three warning signs, that's on you haha.

This is a movie that's good for laughs and entertainment. It is the perfect kind of stupid movie to watch when you want to turn your brain off and just pop some popcorn to have 90 minutes of fun. It's corny and cheesy and yes, extremely profane. I didn't expect anything different from the trailer.

It was incredibly predictable in its format, and some of the jokes didn't exactly land. Some parts were a little clunky and could've been better for the sake of comedy. But overall, it was exactly what it should've been. A fun and raunchy underdog story.

Would have been better in High School
rexroversp28 January 2024
Little kids cussing? Why? Feels like it was just used fo cheap laughs. Low hanging fruit. This movie would have benefited so much from a high school football team. You could have had larger crowds and the profanity wouldn't have been so off putting. And I don't even have a problem with profanity but this was just distasteful and took away from the story.

It's like if Role Models and Little Giants had a baby that was raised by Ice Cube. I wouldn't say I was necessarily bad but it wasn't nothing to write home about. Something to watch if you're bored but I wouldn't spend any money on the Snoop vanity project. It was... Ok.

Wholesome and funny, but a little cliche
metallisktispe5955 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Definitely had a lot of laughs with this one. Surprisingly funny and wholesome movie. A lot of great fav actors and even the kids had me laughing a lot. I would highly recommend this for a weekend movie watch, maybe only with older kids if doing a family night cause there is a ton of profanity and stuff. My only complaint is that it's a little cliche how it does exactly the same plot as almost all movies like this. Down on his luck famous person/adult, has to mentor a bad team/kids/people, they hate the coach/mentor, they end up bonding, then something happens where they hate the mentor/coach again cause a life decision comes up but he makes the right decision. Like anyone with a life changing opportunity in real life wouldn't want to do that or figure out a way work around it cause life happens. I don't know I just felt like they made that super extra but I still really enjoyed the movie altogether!

Nonstop promotion of underage profanity and filth
angiebaby1980444429 January 2024
Who wants to watch a bunch of 10 year olds barf profanity, disrespect, and sexual comments? TBH is was despicable. If it wasn't bad enough the way the kids behaved, the parents barely batted an eye and even cheered for it in the movie. Snoop and Epps were hilarious but I don't want to see a bunch of minors behaving exactly like them. The inspirational message was lost in the celebration of very adolescent kids acting and speaking like thugs. This was sad. This is gonna get high ratings from the parents who are the problem and who are raising them up to be everything that's wrong with our society today.

Hardball, but Snoop
baby_victoria_426 January 2024
If you liked the movie "Hardball" with Keanu Reeves, you will like this. If you also like Snoop Dogg, bonus points.

Yes, there's a lot of swearing, but what do you expect from one of his movies?

There's even a kick-ass disclaimer at the very beginning about the language 😂

Overall enjoyable, funny, great sports/celeb cameos, and as far as "remakes"/recycled ideas go, this one was done well (I'm not coming for Snoop or anyone involved in the film but let's face it, there's nothing totally original in Hollywood anymore, every flick has at least one reused idea/plot/character-forming "twist")

So spark a blunt or pass the bowl, sit back, and enjoy!

FYI- This movie is R rated. It is not a movie for little kids.
syntory26 January 2024
What is with all the foul language coming from the kid characters in this movie? They're also making a lot of sexual/genital references.

The movie itself is not too terrible, but the dialogue coming from such young kids is a bit much. I understand that this is how a lot of kids talk nowadays, but the foul language should have been toned down a bit. I dont think there's a single scene in the this movie that doesnt have curse words. Dont get me wrong, I dont find foul language offensive per se, it's just a little off-putting when there's SO MUCH coming from these little kid characters. Constant cursing all throughout this film and I think this is a very lazy writing style.

Compare the writing, especially the dialogue, with the 90's movie "Little Giants" (an actual kids movie which is very similar) and you'll get an idea of why I give this movie 5 stars. I'm assuming The Underdoggs was made for adults because I personally would not allow any small children to watch this movie. I dont understand why the writers would write a movie that's ABOUT little kids, but is not FOR little kids.

Don't be so bothered by the profanity that you miss the point
kdkeesh29 January 2024
I'm glad I took a chance to watch this movie. Knowing Snoop's history with youth football, I figured it'd be a good watch. It was hilarious and entertaining throughout. Even above that, the kids did an amazing job in their roles. The kids showed that they had greatness beyond their circumstances-beyond letdowns they experienced. I hate to break it to you...but kids cuss. Even when you think they don't. Those underprivileged kids you say you care so much about...oh, a lot of them cuss a lot. I also hate to break it to you that this isn't the end of the world.

Some of the nastiest, most vile things have been said and done towards people without a single curse word. So I'm always peeved by people that let a few curse words keep them from a good story. With the things some kids have to experience (through no fault of their own), cussing is the LEAST of their worries.

Also, there was a warning in the beginning of the movie. You could've skipped the movie and climbing your high horse altogether. For everyone that "dares" to see a movie with kids cussing, the movie had a great underdog message and I think you'll enjoy the movie overall.

Lots of cursing.
melissabarefoot30 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I grew up listening to Snoop Dogg music, I knew I was in for a crazy movie. I love Snoop Dogg, football and comedy. I was wanting my eleven year old son to watch this with me but, after the first 10 minutes, that was a no go for me to let him watch this movie. The movie had a good story and lesson taught, but the cussing was the worse. Everyone knows Snoop Dogg cusses and smokes, but not with kids. They were calling them little a$$holes and stuff. If there were less cursing, I would have rated higher. But everyone knows how Snoop-A-Loop is and even though he means well, with children, the cursing was a bit too much.

A generic football comedy
djrmc2429 January 2024
The Underdoggs is a unfunny generic comedy starring Snoop Dogg as a Pop Warner head football coach. The movie has a paperthin predictable story that is not really funny even though it's categorized as a comedy. I'm very curious to know why Amazon Prime decided to pick this movie up. This movie really seems like a straight to dvd movie. Mike Epps who also co-stars in this one provides some much needed comedy and jokes with being only the bright spot to the film. The football scenes in this are pretty standard and nothing to get excited about. Even the football scenes in the Little Giants was more exciting then this. Even though the movie's premise might make you think this is a family friendly movie it's far from it as it's rated R because bad language is thrown in every scene every 2 minutes. The Underdoggs gets a very weak 4 stars out of 10 from me.

It's Snoop, what do you expect....
PerryAtTheMovies22 February 2024
6.7/10 (Recommend)

It has Snoop Dogg.... What do you expect with a film expecting him? A clean film that's rated G and full of roses and daisies?

I wouldn't call Snoop anywhere close to being one of my favourite artists though I've listened to his music over the years, but his ability to bring about the comedy with Easter eggs involving his life is good.

This isn't a top-notch film and the story of the underdog has been told many times before, but the sort of fresh energy that is brought to the film is that it isn't a G/PG film. I'm not saying I'm a fan of the children swearing, but it works within the dynamics of the film.

All to say this isn't entirely a family friendly film despite it being family oriented. Definitely not geared to everyone. It's a little motivational and funny. The runtime is perfect and caps out right where it needs to. Chemistry and actor selection was enjoyable all-round. In the end I recommend for some, but not for others.

That's all for now. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. Until next time.... Enjoy the show!

One of the most wholesome movies I've ever watched
rayfigueroa-080623 February 2024
Definitely don't watch this with any children but I still want to know which parents allowed their kids to star in this movie cause they are the real GOATS. If you're going into this for snoop dogg you'll leave disappointed but the kids and Mike Epps stole the show. I hope they don't make a part 2. Good for a one and done type of viewing. The reason for the 6 is because this is a story that's been done many times the difference is the use of the vulgar language but it's very on par with what I'm sure is the real life experience of snoop doggs team. Even though I'm sure this isn't how snoop would coach in real life the characters is what keeps you invested till the end.

Pure and Utter Trash with a Capital T
tp-2552729 January 2024
To call this "film" trash is an insult to actual trash. Snoop Dogg, going on 60 years old and still perpetrating the obnoxious "pimp" personal can't act his way out of a paper bag. This film is unfunny, and has every negative black stereotype imaginable. Not only should anyone who invested in this tripe lose their money, but whoever green-lit this "film" should be fired. It is a complete embarrassment to black people and the "culture." Avoid this garbage. You won't let your kids see it after to see the opening credits which are insanely profane, unnecessary and ridiculous. WORST trash I have seen in many, many years. Pure garbage.

Throw some foul language and a bunch of kids into the mix
frittles-196163 February 2024
It's like the mighty ducks of football but throw in snoop and everything else that comes with him and you get this modern day gem. It was fun to watch, well directed and they didn't cheap out on an ending which most would suspect. The casting was superb along with the idea of snoop even being able to handle a movie like this. I was questioning the thought of even watching it but soon began to think differently as the plot established. I didn't feel there were any dry spots at all aside from the concept which has been done time and time again but how they went about it was modern and definitely made this movie worth watching. At least once!

Absolutely awful film, how can you swear in front of children and normalise it
mr-maltese30 January 2024
What is this a family film? Because I can't let my children watch this so is it an adult film? Not really, it's really boring for an adult film, why is there so much swearing all the way through the film, It's disgusting, turning the mouth of beibs into a cesspit. This is probably one of the worst films I've ever seen, yeah we know the score really bad team gets new coach and then the turnaround begins. We've seen 1000 of these films, but I was prepared to watch this one for some comedy from Snoop Dogg instead, all I got were Man swearing in front of children, allowing them to drink alcohol while being well glorifying Weed in front of the children. No wonder certain parts of America are so crime ridden and so decrepit when they allow this kind of thing to go on in front of their children. I was totally horrified at this, is not to swear in front of kids it is not cool at all. Allow the kids their childhood. The film is just rubbish it's not even funny it's predictable boring bad performances I can't stress how bad this film is .

"THE UNDERDOGGS" REVIEW
Mr-Topshotta29 January 2024
Directed by Charles Stone III. A runtime of one hour and thirty-six minutes. Streaming on Prime Video with an R rating.

"Jaycen," played by Snoop Dogg, is a hot-headed ex-athlete from Long Beach, California. Ever since he was young, two things have stayed consistent: his undeniable skill set and his obnoxious attitude. It got "Jaycen" a Super Bowl ring but as soon as that skill set started to diminish he was out of the league. No one wanted to work with him.

Now retired, "Jaycen" still hasn't dropped his attitude. He still thinks the world should worship the ground he stands on. A podcaster now, you would still think he's in the league "Mossing" cornerbacks.

Despite getting into some trouble because of his attitude, He is forced to serve community service on his old stomping grounds. There, he starts seeing familiar faces. Like "Kareem," played by Mike Epps, and an old love, "Cherise," played by Tika Sumpter.

"Tika" has a foul-mouthed son, "Tre," played by Jonigan Booth. He plays on a pee-wee football team that no one seems to care about. "Jaycen" uses this opportunity for all the wrong reasons and becomes the coach of the team.

What was supposed to be something he could use as time to take off his community service hours turns into something much more.

"The UnderDoggs" was loosely based on Snoop Dogg and his youth football league. If you didn't know, Snoop has had a league for some time now. Many college graduates and players in the NFL come from this youth football league.

Snoop is a man of many talents. He might be one of the most recognizable faces with one of the most recognized names. To see where he came from to now is truly amazing.

This film was fun and hilarious. The kids were cold-blooded and did not hold any punches. Snoop acting as well has improved a lot. He was so mean and played being a loudmouth butthead perfectly. If you don't like vulgar language, this might not be the film for you. I give it four mor fires 🔥🔥🔥🔥.

You get what you'd expect... Soooo...
hernandezgdl5 February 2024
I'm giving this movie a 10 out of 10 rating, not because I consider it a masterpiece in cinematic history, but because it delivers exactly what the targeted audience would expect... and maybe even more.

We need to start being fair with our reviews if we're gonna take the time to review something. If this type of movie is not your thing, then just don't watch it. And if you do decide to watch for whatever reason, knowing it's not your thing, then don't be an az$ and give it a horrible review.

There's a genre of music I personally don't like... But I'm not going to waste my time listening to it and then give it a bad review because I didn't like it... It's not MY thing so I don't listen to it!!! You don't go buy a V8 pickup and then complain that it's not gas friendly compared to your hybrid! It's that simple!

I mean, they literally give you the most clear, transparent and honest disclosure at the beginning of the movie!!!!

Snoop fan

Warning: Spoilers
When I saw this I immediately thought "yes I want to watch something not very serious" but I am pleasantly surprised by the story too! We all love an underdogg story and this one hits home. Yes everyone is complaining about the swearing BUT there was a disclaimer and let's face it the kids probably talk that way anyway so points for authenticity. I really enjoyed the clever one liners and jokes throughout.

I wouldn't watch this with my parents, but I would watch it with friends for kicks. One negative point I will say that could have done better was the scene with the kids at the pool party getting drunk and peeing in snoop's pool was ehh... but everything else was two thumbs up.

Not family friendly :(
charlie6830 January 2024
I have a 6th grade and a Freshman at Poly. We wanted to watch it as a family because I thought the whole school would be talking about it on Monday. I pushed the family to 10 minute mark and had to stop. The language was just inappropriate all the time for kids and there are kids in the film. I've gone and watched it without my family. There are a few funny moments...Mike Epps, but still too much foul language. I'm sure Raising Cane's has to be cringing to be associated with this movie. Real parents on the sideline would not have put up with that kind of language...even in the "hood". I'm sad for Snoop.

Movie can be hard to watch.
tanamn-608993 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The base of the story is directly in the line of films such as Little Giants, Gridiron Gang, The Mean Green, or even Sandlot. However, the film does very little justice for itself when the scipt is complied of R rated language. Many times the foul language dictates and overpowers the storyline and creates a bad image for the audience to embrass. The bad boy image and all the bad language ought have been turned down more often to create caution and care for the script. I do find the distasteful language to collide with the game losing finale that brings a positive message for children; You deserve an A for your effort even though your the loser on pin & paper. I would recommend this movie only to people that can stick out a film full of cursing and willing to hold onto until the end. Final words...it could have been better.

bigdeb48-77-2741401 February 2024
I don't know where these dinosaurs lived at and what cretaceous era they lived in but kids today are little curses because they imitate their older siblings and friends as well as adults needles to say. I had to get here just to vent my opinion and I love Snoop Dogg and Mike Epps, I checked it out and I laughed at the kids antics as kids will be kids and that's whole gist of this movie. It was funny sometimes and heartfelt other times. So don't be a snob Dogg that don't like anything urban from yours truly a urban raised ghetto girl lol get real. Added note Snoop is advent fan of sports like the basketball team Lakers and he loves football. It was probably financed by a lot of rappers from Compton /Long Beach I appreciate he wanted to expose his passion for sports through this movie I glad he was able to achieve his goal.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!
dtittle-5793630 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I ONLY created this imdb account leave this review. This is very possibly the most overproduced, underwritten, overacted and corny movie and script that I have ever seen in my life and I love movies and television shows. I can even appreciate the cheesy ones, but not this. First of all the way the adults were cursing around the children like it was just so normal was off putting in a way I can't even explain. Secondly, the children were cursing in a way they suggested they were comfortable talking like they were and comfortable speaking that way in front of those adults which was horrible. 0-5.
