- In the spirit of Valentine's Day, Meredith and Derek try to have a night to themselves when Lexie offers to watch Zola; Callie hands babysitting duties over to Mark so that she can surprise Arizona with a romantic evening; and Ben proves to Bailey that he knows her better than she thinks. - Derek and Meredith find themselves searching for places to "do it" where there's no baby. The baby's in the bed and the baby's bath toys are in the shower, and Lexie is in the living room. They finally go out to the car, but Lexie shows up there, too, with Zola, who's woken up.
Callie tells Arizona she's made Valentine's Day plans. She tells her to pack an overnight bag, boots, long underwear, extra fleece. Arizona doesn't seem thrilled, but Callie promises it'll be romantic.
Cristina and Hunt are alone.
At the hospital, Bailey assures Ben she's ready for their big date. She even has high heels in the back of her car. Arizona asks Sloan about Callie's plans for camping. She also tells Sloan he needs to find a babysitter if he wants to keep his date with Julia. Lexie overhears some of this conversation and tells Sloan that she has plans, too.
Hunt is annoyed with April's Valentine's Day decorations around the hospital. Cristina tells Meredith she thinks Owen is going to leave her, and she doesn't care. Cristina says she's brilliant and gifted, and she won't beg Owen to stay. Avery is nervous because everyone else seems to have begun studying for their boards, but he hasn't. Owen gives assignments to each of the surgeons, but not Cristina.
Meredith treats a woman who has seizures. Cristina confronts Owen, who relents and tells her she can be on Teddy's service. Suddenly, a flower van comes crashing through the wall, heading right toward Cristina -- and Owen dives to pull her out of the way. She seems OK, and Owen leaves.
Cristina and Owen are treating the driver of the van, who says he's been working long hours and must have fallen asleep driving.
Meredith's patient isn't responding to the seizure medication, and Derek suggests a medically induced coma. Her husband says they've "never talked about medical-decision type stuff." He agrees to let Derek proceed with the coma.
Hunt sees April sorting through the delivery van's flowers and tells her to get to work. She starts to get rid of them, but Webber tells her to go forward with her deliveries and that Owen doesn't need to know. Webber tells Lexie he takes the day very seriously and is planning to spend time with his wife. He asks Lexie if she's "hitting the town," and she says she's "not hitting much of anything, these days."
An ambulance brings in a man who was hit by a car when he went into the street chasing his girlfriend. He's on a gurney and she's still yelling at him, saying he shouldn't have chased her. She's upset because she thought he was going to propose while they were having breakfast in bed.
Alex is working on a little girl who seems to be having an allergic reaction. The mother of a young boy brought the girl in. Her son had given the girl candy as a Valentine's gift, and the girl must have been allergic to some nuts.
The scorned girlfriend is still yelling at her boyfriend and Webber notices a cut on the woman's arm. He tells Lexie to take the woman away for treatment, and she does. Webber then tells the patient that "a man should get to bleed in peace."
Meredith calls Bailey over to work on some theories as to what's causing her patient's seizures. Bailey wants to work quickly because of her date that night. Meredith figures it out quickly -- at least for now.
Teddy shows up while Owen and Cristina are looking at scans from the delivery van driver. Cristina tells Teddy that Owen has agreed to let Cristina back on Teddy's service.
The upset girlfriend explains to Lexie that it's been eight years and her boyfriend hasn't proposed, having only given her another "cheap necklace." Webber walks by, rolling the woman's boyfriend to an O.R. and tells her, "We're taking your fiance to surgery." Lexie quietly corrects Webber in the elevator, saying, "He's not her fiance." Webber looks down at the guy, confused.
Owen, Teddy and Cristina are in surgery together and it's completely silent except for a couple of instructions. Steve (remember "stinky two"?) asks if anyone has any good Valentine's plans, which prompts Teddy to air everyone's issues -- that Henry died in that very O.R., Cristina did the surgery under Hunt's orders and lied to her for hours about Henry. She also explains that Owen wants a baby and Cristina does not, "so they don't speak to each other, even though they're married." So, Teddy says, none of them have plans. She asks if he does, and he starts to say, "My girlfriend and I are going to --" before getting the hint.
Meredith and Bailey tell the husband of the woman having the seizures that they think there are antibodies attacking her brain. They think they can fix it quickly.
Sloan and Arizona are playing Rock Paper Scissors now to determine who's babysitting. Sloan has Avery in his corner, advising him on what to do on his next turn. Sloan loses.
The mother of the little girl who was allergic to nuts shows up and is upset with the other mother for ignoring the notes the school sends home about students being allergic.
Sloan is still talking about his date with Julia in the O.R. where Webber and Lexie are operating. Lexie offers to stay late to treat the patient, and Sloan quizzes her about her hot date. Webber asks Sloan to leave, nicely. Lexie thanks him.
Stuck in an elevator together, Owen tells Cristina he's moving out. She starts to cry and says, "OK."
Ben tells Bailey he got the message that her surgery was going long and he pushed their reservation to 8. He offers to push it to 9, but she says that won't be necessary. Then she walks into the room where Meredith is looking at scans. It's something different than they thought. Bailey takes Ben up on his offer to push dinner until 9.
The mothers of the little kids are bickering, including the girl's mom blaming the boy for having given her daughter head lice, until Alex reminds them that their kids are 10 and they're "in love." Then, Clem, the little girl, starts to breathe funny. The boy alerts Alex, who works quickly to resolve it.
Bailey and Meredith decide their patient has two tumors. One in her lung and another they can't find. Bailey thinks another one might be microscopic and on the woman's ovaries. It would mean they have to take out her ovaries.
Lexie is treating the man who was hit by the car, and his girlfriend is now upset about how important she felt the ring was. She decides she didn't need "the stupid ring," she just needs him. She asks Lexie to let him be OK.
The flower van driver vows he won't work too hard anymore, and gives a little speech to Owen and Teddy about how people rely on his flowers to cover up the fact that they treat each other terribly every other day. He's tired of it. Afterward, Owen tells Teddy he doesn't want them to be fighting and offers to take her for a drink, or many. She asks if he's done talking, and when he says he is, she absolutely rips him apart. Teddy tells Owen she hates him for having put the hospital above her and her husband, and that she wishes he were dead instead of Henry. She also goes back to the war, saying, "I think about all the soldiers, good men who died over there in Iraq, and I don't understand what kind of God would have allowed you to survive." She tells him, "This is not grief, it will not pass. I hate you." And she tells him not to speak to her again unless it's work related.
Meredith and Bailey tell their patient's husband about the idea of removing her ovaries. He says his wife is young and she still wants kids. He asks them to do better than "chance are," which is what Meredith said when explaining the likelihood that the tumor is on her ovaries. Meredith tells him it's risky to wait because, if she continues to have the seizures, they will destroy her.
Lexie finds Sloan eating a box of chocolates he bought for Julia, but she's standing him up for a big surgery. Sloan tells Lexie he got chocolates and even bags of rose petals. Then Lexie admits her hot date is Zola. She's babysitting.
Lexie's patient codes and needs to be resuscitated. We next see Lexie and Webber deliver the news to his girlfriend that his heart stopped and he didn't make it. She sobs uncontrollably.
Meredith and Bailey work to save one of their patient's ovaries.
The 10-year-old boy, Niko, is upset that his mother wants to take him home. He promised he'd be there when he woke up, and doesn't want to break that promise. Alex offers to deliver any message Niko wants on his behalf. Niko agrees, but tells Alex he's going to need some paper and a pen.
The scan on Meredith and Bailey's patient's removed ovary came back clean, and they decide to remove the second one, despite a third-year OB-GYN saying the other one could be clean, too.
Teddy comes to Cristina and says she's "done" with Owen. She doesn't understand how Owen could think they could ever be friends again. Cristina says nothing.
Meredith and Bailey are standing over the shoulder of a lab tech. They each take a turn looking through the microscope and are excited when they think they found a tiny tumor.
Clementine wakes up and Alex delivers Niko's long message, which includes how he's excited to jump on a trampoline together again and ends with Niko saying he doesn't care who gave who lice, he's just glad they had it together. Alex tells Clem she "picked a good one."
Lexie is putting the dead boyfriend's possession in a bag and sees the "cheap necklace" he'd given his girlfriend. It has a heart-shaped locket attached. Lexie opens it and sees that the man had written a note inside: "Will you marry me?"
Sloan is babysitting and Avery shows up with steak, red wine and a salad. He's going to cook for Sloan. Sloan tells Avery he has a girlfriend, but Avery wants Sloan to help him study for his boards, because he's "way behind."
Callie walks a blindfolded Arizona out into the wilderness, and Arizona is trying to have a good attitude. The revelation: They're taking over Derek's trailer. Arizona is bummed that they're "really camping." Inside, though, she sees that Callie's decorated the place, and there's a bed, and lingerie.
Meredith tells Derek about her patient's tumor, and how she figured out where it was and went in and got it. He thinks it's sexy that she's talking about it and holding the hacked-up ovary in a petrie dish.
Bailey gets a call and is upset that another surgery is coming in. She complains to Webber, who offers to take it. Bailey remembers it's Webber's anniversary and tells him he should go home to his wife. He says he did, and she didn't recognize him. He says he'd rather be alone with a scalpel.
Lexie paces around the house with Zola, saying she's going to "tell him" -- meaning Sloan. Derek and Meredith show up all giddy and rush up to their bedroom, telling Lexie she can take Zola with her.
Bailey shows up for her date with Ben, and she's still in her scrubs. He says dinner's over. It's 11:23 p.m. and she blew him off for dinner hours ago. She gets defensive and says he can't fault her for saving lives, but he pulls her into a heavily decorated cafeteria. He'd set the whole thing up knowing she'd never make a real dinner reservation, because he "knows her". She protests. He says that he also had the cook put extra crumb topping on her mac and cheese, further proving how much he knows her.
Lexie shows up at Sloan's place, saying Zola and Sofia could have a play date and that he and Lexie could talk about some things. Sloan tells Lexie that Avery is making dinner and insists that she stay.
Cristina finds Hunt hiding in that vent room, and asks him not to hate her. "I'm begging you," she says. She touches his chest and he touches her arm, and they say nothing more.
