- With the murder suspect in jail, the defense team are searching for ways to implicate someone else. Charlotte's credibility as a witness is called into question. Meanwhile, Victoria reconnects with an old flame.
- Daniel's trial starts, without bail. Only after a beastly shower beating the court allows him to stay at home wearing an ankle device. Victoria arranged the thugs trough corrupt jailer Lee Moran and resumes her affair with ex-con forger Dominik Wright. To prevent Jack, whom Nolan sent on a wild goose chase for Amanda, becoming a suspect, Declan has to tell Mason Treadwell that Charlotte was doped, which compromises his love and shot at prep-school but also Daniel's original defense, forcing his lawyer to focus on the sympathy card starring fiancée Emily, while she admits to Nolan revenge primes even over her love.—KGF Vissers
- Daniel is on Riker's Island, writing a letter to Emily explaining that he's not guilty.
Nolan drops by to see Emily and sees the letter from Daniel. She admits that she had lost focus and got too involved.
Victoria is trying to get Charlie to tell a sketch artist what the hooded person on the beach looked like. Declan drops by for orientation and is grilled as well.
There are still no leads as to the location of "Amanda Clarke." Victoria is adamant they spare no expense tracking her down. Attorney Brooks tells Victoria and Conrad they need to find another viable suspect. Victoria hints at lying about what Charlie saw on the beach.
Nolan wants Jack to give up on "Amanda." He's not ready to do that, given the blood he found in her jacket.
Brooks tells everybody that Daniel won't be getting bail. Victoria shows them a sketch that looks quite a bit like Jack. She and Emily exchange steely glances.
Victoria, Conrad and Emily decide hiring a spin doctor would be a good idea. Emily says she'll look into Mason Treadwell.
Victoria calls Lee, the shady young man she'd previously used to break into Jack's to steal the Treadwell tapes. She ask about getting a "message" to someone inside Riker's.
Emily asks Nolan to find Treadwell. He tells her about Jack and she thinks he should send him out of town on an "Amanda" hunt.
Emily meets with Daniel in prison. He's having a rough go of it. She gives him some advice about how to handle being inside.
Nolan meets with Treadwell, who says he'll never write again. He blames "Amanda" for what happened to his home. Nolan tells him about Daniel's arrest and the potential connection to "Amanda."
Treadwell meets with Victoria, telling her that the sketch doesn't mean all that much. Victoria offers him exclusive access and wants him to begin blogging about the case online immediately. Ashley has already set him up with a domain name. [thetreadwellreport.com]
Daniel is jumped in the prison shower and severely beaten by several men.
On Riker's the following day Emily and Victioria are told that Daniel sustained a concussion and a number of broken bones. Victoria immediately reminds everyone that the judge had promising to revisit Daniel's incarceration if he was in danger. Brooks says the judge is looking at house arrest and Daniel could be home the next day.
Treadwell stops by Jack's bar and tells him about the eyewitnesses placing him on the beach. Treadwell wonders if "Amanda" put him up to it and Jack throws the smarmy weasel out. Declan follows Treadwell from of the bar and tells him Jack is being set-up, adding that Charlie was on painkillers the night of the murder and doesn't remember anything.
Emily follows Victoria as she meets and pays off Lee who had arranged for Daniel to be beaten, and takes a number of photos of the exchange with her cell' 'phone. Victoria then meets up with a man who knows her as "Vicki Harper."
Emily breaks into a safe.
Treadwell wants to talk to Charlie, using her prescription pills as leverage to get her to open up. He tells her "you don't have to be like the rest of your family."
Nolan tells Jack that "Amanda" hasn't withdrawn any of the money in the account. He tells him that perhaps "Amanda" is waiting for him in Montreal and he should go find her.
Victoria and the "new" man speak post-coital. He is your garden variety starving artist, complete with an accent, who seems to be an old love.
While working on his blog Treadwell gets an IM from somebody who says he knows who burned his house. They tell him to check the drawer, where he finds his tapes. He thinks he's chatting with "Amanda." The person tells him Victoria has the answers. Of course we see that it was the real Amanda, Emily.
Lying in bed Victoria and her artist catch up on old times. She checks in by 'phone with Conrad, who tells her that Daniel is being released on $10 million bail and is on his way home followed by the press.
Daniel is set up at home with his ankle monitor. He's told that if he violates his house arrest perimeter he'll go back to prison.
Charlie is furious with Declan for selling her out to Treadwell. His latest blog post reports that Declan says Charlie was under the influence of champagne and painkillers and invented the person she saw on the beach. He tells her that eventually she'll understand, but she doesn't care, saying "it's time for your exit. She hangs up and takes another pill.
Victoria arrives home to find out about Declan talking to Treadwell. The story has gone viral and now the family is in doubt. Emily confirms having seen Charlie with pills and Brooks says Charlie is no longer a viable witness. Daniel's entire defense is now shot.
Charlie admits to Victoria that she's high. Victoria slaps her as Conrad comes to the door, saying she may have doomed her brother.
Jack tells Declan he's headed to Montreal. Nolan is helping run the bar in his absence. After Jack leaves Nolan says he knows what Declan is doing, and that Jack doesn't realize his brother is protecting him with his statement to Mason.
Treadwell tells Victoria he saw right through her plan and wasn't interested in helping her frame an innocent man. When she demands he run a retraction, he says he knows she burned down his home and has his tapes. She says it was "Amanda" and he threatens to "burn you at the stake" if she brings Amanda Clarke into the case.
Wearing a brown wig, Emily picks up Lee in the same bar she'd followed Victoria to the night she arranged for her son's beating. She surreptitiously records their conversation while going shot-for shot of booze with Lee.
Victoria tells Daniel "all this will be over soon." She brings up the idea that Emily was the one who finished the job, asking how he knows that Emily wasn't there. He says that if she tries to bring Emily into his defense as an alternative killer, he'll confess to everything.
Emily suggests she and the guy leave the bar together as Daniel is trying to reach her on the phone.
Online Victoria reads about her artist, Dominik Wright, whose career fell apart over drug and forgery charges. He calls her, asking if they'll ever see each other again. When Conrad enters the room she hangs up on him. Conrad tells her she needs to be discreet with any affairs. She accuses him of directing Treadwell to the tapes. He calls her delusional. Victoria returns to Dominik.
Emily surprises Lee in the parking lot with a rapid series of strikes and kicks. He is unable to effectively defend himself, and is beaten to the ground. Emily tells his barely conscious form: "This is for Jack... and that was for Daniel."
She obtains an impression of the helpless Lee's key before leaving.
