- Karen Cartwright: [just out of bed, fixing quick breakfast] Hey.
- Jimmy Collins: [still wrapped in blanket] Hey.
- Karen Cartwright: What time is it?
- Jimmy Collins: I don't know. Seven.
- Karen Cartwright: What time did we go to sleep?
- Jimmy Collins: Six.
- [both chuckle]
- Karen Cartwright: [as he is about to leave] Dad, just stay. And watch Ana rehearse. She's amazing.
- Roger Cartwright: I'm sure you have your reasons, but I still can't quite see... why you left Bombshell for this.
- Karen Cartwright: It's a great show. It... it might not be Broadway, but it's right for me. Just stay, you'll see.
- Roger Cartwright: I can't say 'no' to spending more time with you.
- [she chuckles]
- Roger Cartwright: You were so
- [imitates growl:]
- Roger Cartwright: great!
- Karen Cartwright: Hey. Is everything okay? I hope you're not mad at me for making you leave this morning.
- Jimmy Collins: No. No, I'm not mad.
- Karen Cartwright: [smiles] Good... 'cause this is really strange for me. My Dad's here, and he's asking me all these questions about my life,
- [scoffs]
- Karen Cartwright: and then, in the middle of all that, there's... what happened with us.
- Jimmy Collins: You haven't told anybody... right? Ana, Kyle. Derek.
- Karen Cartwright: No. Why?
- Jimmy Collins: Oh, we're working together. It's better... to keep it between us.
- Karen Cartwright: [sullen] If that's what you want.
- Jimmy Collins: No, no, I... I'm sorry. No, it's not that, it's...
- Roger Cartwright: I finally understand about why you left Bombshell. You left because of that composer. The one I saw sneaking out your window this morning.
- Karen Cartwright: Dad...
- Roger Cartwright: You... you never even mentioned him to your Mom or me. Who is he? What's his story?
- [shakes his head]
- Roger Cartwright: I just don't want you to make a mistake.
- Karen Cartwright: Jimmy's important to me. This show is, too. So if this... is all a mistake, it's too late. I already made it.
- Roger Cartwright: [nods] I guess you did.
- [goes to his taxi]
- Derek Wills: [Jimmy finally slunk in] Oh, Mr. Collins, how lovely of you to grace us with your presence.
- Jimmy Collins: Sorry I'm late.
- Karen Cartwright: Hey.
- Jimmy Collins: [seated at piano] Let's get started.
- Derek Wills: Oh, we did already.
