Usually June is associated with the first real month of summer -- a time to go out and frolic through the wilderness like a snowman that doesn't know any better. But it also gets really, really hot, which has people retreating to their local multiplex or, even better, their luxuriously air-conditioned living rooms. With that in mind, take a look at the television shows and movies that will be available on Netflix's steaming service come June (via Vulture).
Thought the snail-who-dreamed-of-being-a-racecar saga ended with last summer's DreamWorks Animated joint "Turbo?" Think again. Apparently there's a television spin-off. And you can watch it on Netflix. We also have to give it up for a pair of wonderful sequels that are going to be on in June: the obviously-shot-in-Canada-even-though-it's-set-in-New York robo-epic "Short Circuit 2" (a favorite since childhood) and the far darker and more sinister "Wolf Creek 2," a sequel to the...

Bindi Irwin was ready to go wild at her birthday bash this year—literally. The late Steve Irwin's precocious daughter, who turned 15 on July 24, celebrated a day early with a big blowout at the Australia Zoo in Queensland. And what a blowout it was: The birthday gal rubbed elbows with a bevy of creatures—both real and of the mascot variety—in a party inspired by Return to Nim's Island. The budding star, who was joined by mom Terri and 9-year-old brother Robert, did a demo with crocodiles and cozied up to koalas. And for her big birthday moment, she cut into a massive cake shaped like the zoo as perky mascots flanked her. It seems like the gal was just a wee tyke...

Family adventure film Nim's Island 2, starring Bindi Irwin, has begun shooting on the Gold Coast.

The original Nim's Island grossed $US48 million in North America and almost $6.2 million at the Australian box office. While it was shot in Queensland, it did not qualify as an Australian production, unlike the sequel which is now underway.
