Episode 505

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was far from perfect, but this actually felt like a good kind of sitcom. This is exactly the kind of premise we could expect to see on something in any era: Roseanne of old, or a more modern multi-cam sitcom. And give credit to Beverly Rose for stepping up and doing a fun job with this episode.

The idea of Becky even briefly being a reasonable mother for a change is still a crazy site for fans of the show to see.

Jackie and the weed stuff was a nice subplot as well. I still think this may be the last season for The Conners, but at least they're going out on a high note (no pun intended).

The writing is so unauthentic

The big problem with The Conners by season 5 is that it's painfully obvious that no one who writes for this series has ever lived in the Midwest / Illinois.

Roseanne felt authentic because Roseanne was from the Midwest, Sara Gilbert and the current staff are all California born and bred, and it shows.

A dispensary is depicted in this episode, but no one who has ever been to a dispensary in Illinois would recognize the one here. It was definitely 100% a California dispensary. How do I know? In Illinois you'll never see jars of weed at the counter. Reminds me of another episode where they mention going to Rite-Aid. In Illinois?

Producers: Just send an intern to the Holiday Inn Express in Moline Illinois and have them stay there for a week, there is a dispensary close by. Maybe then your writing will be slightly believable.
