- [Lori tells Carl how much she loves him before she dies]
- Lori Grimes: Carl? Baby, I don't want you to be scared, okay? This is what I want. This is right. Now you... you take care of your daddy for me, all right? And your little brother or sister, you take care...
- Carl Grimes: [Carl with tears in his eyes] You don't have to do this.
- Lori Grimes: [Lori smiles] You're gonna be fine. You are gonna beat this world. I know you will. You are smart, and you are strong, and you are so brave, and I love you.
- Carl Grimes: [as Carl cries] I love you, too.
- Lori Grimes: [Lori with tears in her eyes] You gotta do what's right, baby. You promise me, you'll always do what's right. It's so easy to do the wrong thing in this world. So don't... so if it feels wrong, don't do it, all right? If it feels easy, don't do it. Don't let the world spoil you. You're so good.
- Lori Grimes: [as Lori cries, she runs her hand over Carl's face reaching up to hug him] You're my sweet boy. You're the best thing I ever did. And I love you. I love you. You're my sweet, sweet boy, I love you!
- [Lori, Carl, and Maggie sob together]
- [Merle asks Andrea why the two of them never hooked up]
- Merle Dixon: How come we never hooked up?
- Andrea: You called me a whore, and a rug muncher.
- Merle Dixon: [Merle chuckles] Got a way with words, don't I?
- [T-Dog sacrifices himself so that Carol can escape the tombs of the prison]
- T-Dog: [T-Dog screams] Go, I'm dead!
- [as two Walkers continue to bite T-Dog while Carol escapes]
- [T-Dog after being bit tells Carol that God's plan for him is to save her life]
- Carol Peletier: You should stop!
- T-Dog: Why? Sit here and wait to die?
- Carol Peletier: I'll do what I have to. You're not becoming one of those things!
- T-Dog: I can't ask that!
- Carol Peletier: It's the pact, remember?
- T-Dog: This is God's plan. He'll take care of me. Always has. He's gonna help me lead you out of these tunnels.
- [Rick asks T-Dog who's blood would he rather have on his hands]
- Rick Grimes: We'll give the prisoners a week's worth of supplies for the road.
- T-Dog: Might not last a week.
- Rick Grimes: It's their choice.
- T-Dog: Did they really have one?
- Rick Grimes: Hey, hey... Whose blood would you rather have on your hands... Maggie's, Glenn's, or theirs?
- T-Dog: Neither.
- [Rick's group sees Glenn and Maggie messing around in the guard tower]
- Carol Peletier: Where's Glenn and Maggie? We could use some help.
- Daryl Dixon: Up in the guard tower.
- Rick Grimes: Guard tower? They were just up there last night.
- Daryl Dixon: [Daryl shouts up to the guard tower] Glenn! Maggie!
- Glenn Rhee: [as Glenn steps out half undressed] Hey, what's up guys?
- Daryl Dixon: [when some of the group chuckles] You comin'?
- Glenn Rhee: [as Maggie steps out nervously] What?
- Daryl Dixon: You comin'? Come on, we could use a hand.
- Glenn Rhee: Yeah, we'll be right down!
- Maggie Greene: [as Glenn and Maggie both head back into the guard tower, Maggie whispers] Sickos.
- [Carl asks Hershel for a race after they walk outside]
- Carl Grimes: Ready to race, Hershel?
- Hershel Greene: You give me another day, I'll take you on.
- [as Carl chuckles]
- [the Governor tells Andrea his name is Philip]
- The Governor: Remember... if it gets tough out there, you're always welcome here.
- Andrea: That's very kind. Thank you, Governor.
- The Governor: Philip.
- Andrea: I thought you never told anybody your name.
- The Governor: Someone recently told me never to say never, so...
- [as Andrea smiles]
- [Lori helps Hershel take his first steps while on crutches]
- Hershel Greene: You know? I can go pretty steady.
- Lori Grimes: That's a good start. Want to take a rest?
- Hershel Greene: Rest? Let's go for a little stroll.
- [Lori tells Maggie that she has to cut her open for her baby to live]
- Maggie Greene: Lori, with all this blood, I don't even think you're fully dilated yet. No amount of pushing is gonna help.
- Lori Grimes: I know what it means, and I'm not losing my baby. You've gotta cut me open.
- Maggie Greene: No. I can't.
- Lori Grimes: [Lori in a low voice] You don't have a choice.
- [Lori says her last words before Maggie cuts her baby out]
- Lori Grimes: All right... all right. It's all right. It's all right. Whew...
- Lori Grimes: [as Carl hands Maggie the knife, Lori takes a deep breath] Whew... Goodnight, love.
- Maggie Greene: [Maggie in a low voice] I'm sorry.
- [last lines]
- Rick Grimes: [Rick sees Maggie hold his newborn child covered in blood, as Rick looks for Lori] Where... where is she? Where is she?
- Maggie Greene: [Maggie stops Rick from going in the prison] No... Rick, don't!
- Rick Grimes: [when Rick looks at Carl and uncontrollably cries] Oh, no. No! No!
- Rick Grimes: [Rick stammers an sobs before falling to his back] Oh! No... No.
- [T-Dog tries telling the group to give the inmates Oscar and Axel a chance with them]
- Maggie Greene: They're strangers. I don't... it feels weird all of a sudden to have these other people around.
- T-Dog: You brought us in.
- Maggie Greene: Yeah, but you turned up with a shot boy in your arms. Didn't give us a choice.
- Glenn Rhee: They can't even kill Walkers.
- Carol Peletier: They're convicts, bottom line.
- T-Dog: Those two might actually have less blood on their hands than we do.
- Daryl Dixon: I get guys like this. Hell, I grew up with them. They're degenerates, but they ain't psychos. I could have been with them just as easy as I'm out here with you guys.
- T-Dog: So are you with me?
- Daryl Dixon: Hell, no! Let 'em take their chances out on the road, just like we did.
- [T-Dog tries telling Rick to give the inmates Oscar and Axel a chance with them]
- Rick Grimes: Are you serious? You want them living in a cell next to you? They'll just be waiting for a chance to grab our weapons. You want to go back to sleeping with one eye open?
- T-Dog: I never stopped.
- [Axel sees Daryl get on his motorcycle]
- Axel: [about the motorcycle] Twin cylinder, is that a Triumph?
- Daryl Dixon: Don't even look at it.
- Axel: [as Daryl starts up the bike, Axel continues to try and talk over it] Didn't want it bored out? Sounds like it could use a tune-up. I'm pretty handy with the grind! Heads are leakin'! I know my bikes!
- Oscar: [when Daryl rides off without talking] Man, will you just stop? Have some balls.
- Axel: Just sayin'.
- [Glenn tells Daryl that Hershel is one tough son of a bitch]
- Glenn Rhee: [as the two see Hershel on crutches] He is one tough son of a bitch.
- Glenn Rhee: [Glenn shouts out to Hershel] All right Hershel!
- Daryl Dixon: Shh! Keep your cheers down.
- Glenn Rhee: [when Glenn sees the Walkers behind the fence] Oh, man, can't we just have one good day?
- [Lori tells Maggie that her baby has to survive]
- Maggie Greene: I have no anesthetic, no equipment...
- Lori Grimes: Carl has a knife.
- Maggie Greene: You won't survive.
- Lori Grimes: [Lori starts to breathe heavily] My baby has to survive. Please. My baby... for all of us. Please, Maggie! Please! Please.
- [as Maggie sits with tears in her eyes]
- [Carl volunteers to stop his mother from turning as he remembers what his father told him]
- Maggie Greene: Carl...
- Carl Grimes: She's my mom.
- Rick Grimes: [Carl stands over Lori's dead body, in a flashback] No more kids stuff. People are gonna die. I'm gonna die, Mom. There's no way you can ever be ready for it.
- [first lines]
- Rick Grimes: [Rick gets his group to drive their vehicles within the prison fences] Alright, let's get the other car in. We'll park 'em in the west entry of the yard.
- Daryl Dixon: Good. Our vehicles camped out there look like a giant 'vacancy' sign.
- [Axel tells Rick's group that him and Oscar can't stay in the cell block anymore]
- Axel: You gotta understand... we can't live in that place another minute. You follow me? All the bodies, people we knew. Blood, brains everywhere. There's ghosts.
- Daryl Dixon: Why don't you move the bodies out?
- T-Dog: You should be burning them.
- Axel: We tried! We did!
- [Oscar tells Rick's group that him and Axel can't stay in the cell block anymore]
- Rick Grimes: Our deal is not negotiable. You either live in your cell block, or you leave.
- Oscar: [Oscar looks to Axel] I told you this was a waste of time. They ain't no different than the pricks who shot up our boys. You know how many friends' corpses we had to drag out this week? Just threw 'em out like... Humph. Those were good guys. Good guys who had our backs against the really bad dudes in the joint, like Tomas and Andrew. Now, we've all made mistakes to get in here, chief. And I'm not gonna pretend to be a saint, but believe me... we paid our due... enough that we would rather hit that road, than to go back into that shithole.
- [the Governor tells Michonne they could use a soldier like her]
- The Governor: [the Governor smiles] We could use a soldier like you.
- Michonne: You seem like you're holding your own. Even the National Guard was overrun.
- The Governor: No amount of training can prepare you for the world today.
- [Michonne starts to question the Governor's encounter with the National Guard soldiers]
- Michonne: [as Michonne examines the military truck] Lots of bullet holes. You think biters figured out how to use weapons?
- The Governor: [the Governor chuckles] They must have encountered bandits weeks ago. It's ugly out there, but then... you know that better than anyone.
- Michonne: It's too bad what happened to Welles.
- The Governor: It is. Doctor Stevens couldn't revive him. Merle put a bullet in his brain.
- Michonne: No funeral?
- The Governor: We cremated him, quietly. These people have been through so much, I figured, thank God, at least no one knew him.
- Michonne: [Michonne in a low voice] Thank God.
- [Michonne tells Andrea that when they leave they head for the coast to find a boat]
- Michonne: If we leave soon, we'll get a few hours on the road before dusk.
- Andrea: Where are we heading?
- Michonne: I'm thinking the coast. We have the water completely on one side, maybe we find a boat. Best thing we can do is find an island.
- Andrea: And if the coast isn't safe?
- Michonne: Keep moving.
- Andrea: Let's say the coast is safe. Then what do we do? Just grow old, live off the sea by ourselves?
- Michonne: [about Woodbury] I'd rather take my chances out there than stay here.
- [Glenn hands Axel and Oscar enough food to last them up to a week on the road]
- Glenn Rhee: There's enough food in there to last you guys a week. Cut you loose when we get back.
- Axel: Thank you, bro.
- Glenn Rhee: [Glenn pauses before walking away] Sit tight.
- Oscar: [Oscar to Axel] 'Thank you bro'?
- [Rick suggests to Glenn that they bury all of the prisoner Walker bodies]
- Rick Grimes: We'll throw as much wood as we can in the dog run.
- Glenn Rhee: Won't the fire attract more Walkers? Maybe we should bury them.
- Rick Grimes: We're behind the fence. It's worth the one-time risk to get rid of the bodies for good. I don't want to be planting crops in Walker-rotted soil.
- [Merle asks Andrea why is she helping him to find his brother]
- Merle Dixon: Why are you doing this?
- Andrea: I'd want the same thing if it was my family out there.
- [Merle asks Andrea if she wants to come along with him to find Rick's group]
- Merle Dixon: Sure you don't want to come with me? Mmm. You ain't curious about the old gang?
- Merle Dixon: [as Andrea remains silent] Oh...! Oh yeah, you really was cut loose weren't ya?
- Andrea: I'm sure they came back. I didn't stick around to find out.
- Merle Dixon: Ain't that all a big ol' pig sack? We got something in common, blondie. We got left behind by the same people... and saved by another.
- [Andrea asks Merle if the Governor is a good man]
- Andrea: Have you ever thought about leaving this place?
- Merle Dixon: Never had a reason to.
- Andrea: So the Governor's a good man?
- Merle Dixon: Let me just put it this way. I wasn't in the best of shape when he found me. He should have just kept on going. Yeah, he's a good man.
- [as Merle walks off]
- [the Governor tells Merle that them two should take only the women to the Augusta National Golf Club]
- Merle Dixon: [Merle sees the Governor practice his golf stroke on Walkers] Pretty good!
- The Governor: We should visit Augusta. Take only the women and let them play. It'll be historic.
- Merle Dixon: And break decades of tradition.
- The Governor: Absolutely.
- [Merle makes a request to the Governor to go and search for his brother Daryl]
- The Governor: He could be anywhere.
- Merle Dixon: I know my brother. If he's out there, I'll be able to find him.
- The Governor: What if someone gets hurt during this search, huh? What almost happened to Crowley last time.
- Merle Dixon: Then I'll go on my own.
- The Governor: I get what you're feeling, I really do, but I can't risk it. I need you here. This whole place would fall apart without you.
- Merle Dixon: [Merle in a low voice] This is my brother.
- [Rick gets frustrated while looking for the generators to shut off the prison alarm]
- Rick Grimes: Somebody is playing games! We'll split up and look for the others. Whoever gets to the generators first, shut 'em down!
- [Maggie asks Carl if he's ready to help deliver his baby brother or sister]
- Maggie Greene: You're gonna need to help deliver your baby brother or sister. You up for it? I'll do an exam. Let me see if you're dilated.
- Lori Grimes: [Lori pants] Okay...
- Carl Grimes: [to Maggie] Do you know how?
- Maggie Greene: Dad taught me, but trust me, it's my first time.
- [the Governor pours Andrea a glass of hard liquor]
- Andrea: Oh... I haven't had hard liquor in a while. My tolerance is probably close to nil.
- The Governor: Well, lucky you.
- [Andrea and the Governor agree that when given hope you got to keep looking]
- The Governor: Merle told me you provided information about his brother's whereabouts.
- Andrea: What I could. It wasn't much.
- The Governor: Well, it's given him hope. If you ask me, I don't think he'll find him.
- Andrea: But he's...
- Andrea, The Governor: Gotta look.
- [as Governor and Andrea smile together]
- [Andrea and the Governor tell each other that they have no family out there]
- The Governor: You still got family out there?
- Andrea: I lost my family. My parents, my sister.
- The Governor: I'm sorry. Lost my wife... car accident. Eighteen months before all this. Just my daughter and me.
- Andrea: [Andrea pauses before raising her liquor glass] To better days.
- [Andrea tells the Governor it's all about survival]
- Andrea: Truth is, I don't know what I'm looking for. For the longest time, it was all about survival. Nothing else mattered. So much so... I don't know what matters now.
- The Governor: Pay off the car, work 50 hours a week, get married, buy a house... that was survival for me not long ago.
- Andrea: A lot's changed.
- The Governor: [the Governor looks into Andrea's eyes] The scenery has. The landscape. But the way we think...
- [when Andrea remains silent]
