After a long work week, six and a half days from early in Monday to a half-day on Saturday, London rests on Sunday.... and looks to be busier than ever.
From Petticoat Lane in the morning to the lovers walking the bridges in the evening -- at least we hope they're walking. Move along, now -- London in 1924 seems as full of bustle and activity on a Sunday as it is the rest of the week: more, I would imagine, because a lot of offices are closed, and so their usual daytime occupants have to be out and about. Some may go to church or spend their days quietly indoors at home in blessed relaxation. Judging by the crowds on display on the screen, it seems blessed few.
Given that many people had to spend their weekdays working, Sunday might be one of their times to actual get some shopping done.
