It still feels like we're living in some kind of alternate universe after "Terrifier 2" managed to defy all logical expectations to become one of the biggest indie horror hits of all time. Director Damien Leone is also an accomplished special effects artist, and he ups the ante in the sequel to the nth degree. Riding on the wave of blood and success that the last film provided, "Terrifier 3" is poised to be even gorier, more irreverent, and increasingly offensive in the best possible way. In the wake of last Halloween’s smash hit box office success of Terrifier 2, Dread has announced today that they’re bringing the original Terrifier to theaters this summer.
Damien Leone’s cult slasher slices into 700 theaters nationwide on July 19, 2023. As THR notes, this is “the widest release the horror feature has ever received.”
“When Damien Leone and his team brought Terrifier to Dread Central years ago, we knew that the film was something incredibly special and astoundingly terrifying in the best way possible. Now, six years later, with millions of Terrifier fans worldwide, we are excited to once again unleash on the big screen this blood-soaked homage to old-school horror and the insanity of Art the Clown,” said Epic Pictures and Dread CEO and owner Patrick Ewald in a statement.
Added Steve Menkin, president of Iconic Events, “Every once in a while, a film genre spawns a generational talent who breaks the mold.
