We could've seen this coming

Warning: Spoilers
And that's why I love episodes like this.

Some people will be p*ssed off because it shows a real world problem that doesn't touch them (at the moment) so their antipathy and selfishness gets fully displayed.

Because mental health care is just as important as physical health care, and we see that in this story, but just at the end. Because the attacks aren't aimed at the politician with the progressive ideas (which is a very real world problem nowadays, and not only in the US), but they are really aimed at an aide who had an accident a year ago where a kid got killed, and the father blames that aid, although the police investigation showed it was just a horrible accident. The father spinned mentally out of control and tried to kill said aide. Nice that the politician showed his principles and told the public that it was also a clear indicator that health care matters.

2 point detraction for the stupid love thingy between the protagonist and the politician. Wasn't necessary, and distracting.

Hollywood strikes again
cdlord-5430315 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Once again Hollywood thinks it's necessary to attack conservatives and push an agenda. Poor writing and obtuse manipulation without addressing any of the real underlying issues. And of course using people of color to do it all in their good old stereotypical fashion.

It's drivel like this that's causing the divide in our nation ever wider. Nothing but headlines and talking points but no substance. It's one-sided and biased and really hurts the otherwise good premise of the show.

The writers are even misrepresenting the agenda of the WEO as goals of the right and outright lying to their audience.

Just keep in mind this show is for entertainment purposes only, has absolutely no bearing on reality, and in many cases is the exact opposite.

Absolutely typical hollywood writers plotline

Warning: Spoilers
I'm torn about wasting my time writing a review for this episode. It's just so hackneyed. On the one hand, you can count on hollywood writers to be consistent, on the other hand, it's because their writing is consistently bad AND predictable: It's yet another episode that portrays a liberal (a Congressman) as a shining beacon of hope, and the conservatives who oppose him as idiots (and called "morons" by one of the agents investigating them). They immediately leap to the conclusion that it's the conservatives who are trying to set off a bomb to kill the politician. They come up with 4 white suspects: a male "anti-government conspiracy theorist," a male "with ties to (a) far-right militant movement," and 2 women who are "radical conservative influencers"

No loaded language there!

They finally figure out that it's someone else entirely, with a completely different motive. But they still manage to make conservatives the bad guys in an unrelated attempted kidnaping. But this sort of technique has been used before, I remember an FBI episode which similarly allowed the show's writers (and the agents therein) to trash conservatives up front, only to later discover the villain is someone else. Oops! Sadly, to be fair, this show probably contains the most accurate portrayal of FBI agents we've yet seen on the show. Unfortunately, the news has shown us that many FBI personnel hold half the U. S. population in contempt.

Oh, and when they are not dealing with the episode's actual subtle-as-a-sledgehammer plot, they waste lots of time on the agents' personal relationships (Rookie Simone & the politician and Rookie ex-TV star & the techie). It just shows how little time the writers put into thinking about the plot since all this relationship stuff doesn't leave much of the show's 43-minute running time for a well-developed plot. It's all so sadly predictable.

Right-wing = bad / Diverse, black female rookie = exceptional

I am not sure if the legality of it all but when the FBI shows up, asks to come in, and admits they do not have a warrant, if you shut the door and escape out the window, and they kick in your door and rush into your place, is that legal or is that breaking and entering?

I am tired of Simone acting like the rules do not apply to her. First, dress professionally; no one really wants to see you boobs falling out of your shirt every episode. And also, she wears sneakers to about every case and crime scene. Second, just stop with making her right all the time; it would be better to see her unprofessionalism used, not as a way of always working out, but seeing her overcome the struggles of being unprofessional and in over her head, admitting she is wrong, making mistakes, and becoming a worthy agent.

And enough with painting conservatives as evil. My goodness, watch the news. But, it is the FBI, the people that it took 16 agents to convince two men to try to kidnap a governor...oh, and the same people that planted a guy at January 6th, inspiring people to riot, and being able to find and arrest a grandma from the Midwest, but not the man that said "We are going to go into the Capital." I will not be surprised if Mulder and Scully show up for a few episodes to chase aliens; might add a sense of realism to the show.
