I'm a huge fan of The Simpsons, having pretty watched it from the beginning when it debuted at the end of 1989. However I must admit, I hardly saw any of the Tracey Ullman Simpsons shorts which was the origins of The Simpsons.
I learned a lot, and also how the writers' room operated under surprisingly cramped and run-down conditions in one of the most run-down buildings on the Fox block. Very sadly, Mimi Pond, who wrote the very first Simpsons episode, was not invited back for season two, and that highlighted the problem of the lack of female voices in The Simpsons writing room.
We also learn about the fall-out between Matt Groening and Sam Simon, but Sam got the last laugh when his severance agreement gave him a decent share of the merchandise, making him a squillionaire.
