- Four months later Beverly and Sean are living apart and both are cool towards Matt. After Beverly has consoled Carol over her unrequited love for Merc she and Sean brave the hostile critical reviews of 'Pucks'. However the show is a huge popular success and there is double cause for celebration as it is Sean's birthday and cast and crew throw him a party. Though Beverly has put a present,a watch,in his car he goes off on a date with Morning without seeing it.—don @ minifie-1
- Four months later, Sean and Beverly still meanly blame Matt for their separation except at work. Pucks is finally aired, hated by the critics but a hit in the polls, which however is by no means sure to last. The writers are surprised to learn how mature the seemingly school-age naive, utterly unashamed star actors are. Gifts, free for Matt and brain-wrecking for Beverly at Sean's birthday, arouse many conflicting emotions.—KGF Vissers
- Four Months later
A scene in "Pucks".... Matt LeBlanc talks to a player who's upset that his dads are separated.
And cut.
Sean and Beverly aren't sure they like the new high school actor, Stoke. "What kind of parent names their child Stoke?" Beverly wonders. "It's like saying: You better be attractive or it's all going to be ironic from here on in," Sean says.
Sean and Beverly walk out together, pleasantly. Matt offers them free coffee makers someone sent him. They get in separate cars and drive off.
Beverly is opening a bottle of wine at home when Carol rings her doorbell. Merc, the network boss she's having an affair with, took her ring shopping...for his wife. Who is blind, and won't be able to tell what kind of ring she's getting anyway, Carol thinks. "Pucks" premieres tomorrow night.
Beverly bought Sean a present for his birthday tomorrow -- a vintage watch he's always wanted. She worries she'll come off as desperate and needy. Carol suggests a little needy isn't a bad thing.
The next day, Sean reads reviews including the NY Post: "Pucks Sucks." He reads one that says it's a rehash of 90s sitcoms clichés that hits a little too close to home. Sitting down, Sean leans his head on Beverly but they both break off when they realize they were having a husband and wife moment.
The whole cast and crew goes to Merc's house for popcorn and the show premiere. As Merc's blind wife Jamie tells Carol about her efforts to save the honey bee population, Merc mouths dirty come-ons to Carol.
Matt arrives and Merc tells him he's excited to host the screening for "Matt LeBlanc's first show since 'Friends'. (Forgetting about "Joey" entirely.) They settle in.
Matt's watching in a screening couch next to Jamie in the back of the theatre. She puts her hand on his lap, then slides it up to his crotch. He clarifies who he is. She knows. She unzips his pants and works on him during the screening.
When it's over, Morning tells Matt he has some butter on his pants. "Yep, that's butter. Where's some bread when you need it?" he asks.
As everyone's leaving, Matt grabs Sean. He knows Sean is still pissed, but he wants to tell him about what just happened anyway. Sean explains he'll only talk about work things. "Well, this is kind of work-related. I was watching the show when it happened?" Matt tries.
Beverly comes in to work to the news that they did well in the ratings. "Number one new show of the night, this is gonna kill Schwimmer," Matt says.
In his office, Merc celebrates by banging Carol. Everyone can hear.
On the set, Sean enjoys that more people saw the show than ever saw an episode of their British version. Beverly checks the donuts, she marked one two days ago and wants to see if it's still there. It is.
Sean thinks Beverly was hoping the show would bomb so they could go home. But he has made clear they're over when they go home, so she's glad to at least have the show. She winces, realizing she was too honest.
Matt stops Sean with a script question, then blurts out that Jamie gave him a hand job. "Getting j---- off while you're watching yourself on TV -- actors work their whole lives for that," he says.
Sean starts chewing out Matt for seeming to only have things for other men's wives when Matt, enjoying Sean hyperventilating at him, interrupts that he's "missed this." Disgusted, Sean walks off.
Matt finds Beverly and wonders how long Sean will be mad. She has to hope it'll pass.
One of the high school actors on the show tells Sean and Beverly that the ratings actually went up in the nationals. Next week they'll be opposite a talking dog show on ABC. A stage hand comes to get them, walking Sean over to a birthday cake. It's from Matt. He hugs everyone but Matt.
Beverly gets annoyed with her receptionist Wendy, who comes every time she hears an insult and transfers calls prematurely.
Carol calls Beverly, telling her she shouldn't be alone on Sean's birthday. Merc canceled on her again. Beverly didn't give Sean the fancy watch, she had a PA put it in Sean's car.
Sean runs into Morning running around the lot. She asks him what he's doing for his birthday and suggests they celebrate. She kisses him. Beverly's gift sits in his back seat.
