Director Richard Todd decided against computer-generated and 'trick photography' special effects. As a result, all the stunts and action scenes are real, and it was pure luck that no actors were actually injured.
Because the original location for the Fuerte Valley itself was too difficult to access, the location was changed last-minute, and the production crew were forced to set up a camp behind a public toilet block.
In a scene where Stanley, Arthur and Damien jump over a log, Arthur (Carl Anderson) can be distinctly seen accidentally kicking Damien (Matt Bloomfield) in the head.
No script was written for the scenes set 'en route' from base camp to Fuerte Valley. To be fair, the script for the rest of the film was often not followed with any great accuracy.
