Gave me Goosebumps

The Killer that influences kids. The story is fantastic and it is narrated beautifully. Hugh Dancy is fantastic in all his scenes. The reconstruction of crime scenes is shot brilliantly. I am enjoying every bit of this. Fantastic show. Hannibal could not have been explored better. Mads Mikkelsen looks every bit of the spine chilling serial killer and Kacey Rohl as Abigail Hobbs plays the prey beautifully..

Not as Good as the Previous Episodes

Warning: Spoilers
My Reaction / Review for Hannibal Season 1 Episode 4: Episode 3 was great and I gave it a rating of 8.3/10. I want to watch some Hannibal action, like where he finds his victims etc. Love how Lecter tries to psychoanalyze Will and Will tries to psychoanalyze Lecter. Both the parents of Hannibal died when he was young, well that makes sense. The whole subplot about this woman who makes kids kill their parents, yeah not that interesting to me but still decent. Hannibal lies about giving a sedative to Abigail, interesting. While this episode is good, it's not as good as the previous episodes. My rating is 7.5/10.

It Is For Me.

So in the beginning of this one Graham continues his 'therapy' under the brilliant doctoral skills of Hannibal Lecter.

We explore the deep feelings that killing Jacob Hobbs unlocked in Graham.

+1 Star for the chemistry between Lecter and Graham.

Then we move to a new crime scene, the Turner family. Graham applys his talents at figuring out the design of a new killer? Or is it???

And more meeting with Graham and Lecter, talking about Abigail. Talking about Hobbs and family matters.

And Lecter is constantly having Crawford over for dinner. How yummy!!!

And Crawford asks his wife a very important question.

+1 Star for her answer.

This episode gets a 7/10

The action is in the dialogues!

I think this is one of the most important chapter (if not the most) to understand both the psychology of Hannibal and Will. I see some people saying is another serial killer that diverts the path of the series. They couldn't be more wrong! This episode shows tension. If you pay enough attention you can know what is coming and you know isn't good but somehow (if you were able to get attached to the main characters so far) you want it to happen.

This episode shows action too. We see Hannibal pulling the strings of his puppets. We as a viewer can see through Hannibal, we see his definition of family and how he will teach it to the people he loves. A concept that is the series' target.

Symbolism is very important and the photoshoot too. They speak by themselves.

You just need a little bit of Will's gift: Imagination. It is not enough just to understand what the characters say, you have to imagine yourself in their situations to understand why and so the point the series is leading us.

Warning: Spoilers
I love this show so far but this plot makes no sense. How can kids listen to anyone and kill their family? Ok maybe 1 kid but 3?

Really good acting, story driven but the killer of the week could be better
silentlil29 April 2017
I disagree with those that do not think this episode was just as good, the story and the acting is still very top notch with the exclusion of how the killer of the week story was executed. For not being one of the finer episodes due to it slowly building up it is still one top episode compared to other series.

Nurturing your pig before the kill!
A_Voice29 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
A rather degraded episode of the series, pretty disappointing as it is just the 4th episode. Also the fact of the supposed "child killing" was pretty hard to digest seeing the accuracy the murders were conducted with.

Families are being murdered in their houses. Meanwhile a debate as to Abigail's place of stay has arisen. With Abigail and Hannibal sharing on a little secret she easily agrees to move in with Hannibal. (We all know what's coming!).

A less philosophical and more of a simple plotted episode as one might argue. Also the introduction of one more serial killer just degrades the purpose of the series. Even if they have to introduce one, a better one could have been introduced. Also the episode was a little low on the trademark "gore imagery". Hannibal's taking in Abigail and conducting various experiments on her seems like feeding your pray to it's full before the kill. Anyways I don't suppose he is going to eat her anywhere soon as it might give him away. While its obvious he will eat her in the future. Will on the other hand seems to be having personality disorders as he was afraid. While he is still conscious about his being, but he is afraid he might give in and turn completely. Freddy looks for a direct approach which is a little "unrealistic" as you can't just threat a supposed FBI Agent just like that.

Direction: Average.

Screenplay/Story: Average.

Acting: Dancy Mads and Kacey are good, child artists are nice rest are just fine.

Music: Good.

Overall a lesser episode, still watchable.

Definitely creepy, but a different kind of creepiness.

Warning: Spoilers
This is the episode of Hannibal that was reportedly un-aired due to its graphic nature. Basically, the villain of this episode is a woman who is attempting to create a family of introverted boys from affluent families. She tricks them into loving her and then gets them to kill their families in cold blood. Given the rise and more attention that school shootings have gotten lately, I can see why this episode is so controversial.

Hannibal and Will, as usual, have their incredible chemistry. Alana is still totally blind to the possibility that Abigail may be a reluctant accomplice to her father's crimes. And we get to see a little more of Jack Crawford's home life with the first appearance of Bella Crawford (played by Gina Torres) who has only one cryptic line but fans of the series will know what it means.

There's also a strange scene with Abigail and Hannibal which is a good example on how unorthodox Dr. Lecter is with some of his patients.

An Orphan

Warning: Spoilers
This Episode begins with Hannibal and Will, they are in a psychological session. An entire family has been found death. Alana has a conversation with Hannibal, they talk about Abigail her situation. Jack eats diner with Hannibal. Hannibal cooked with human meat, Jack don't know that. Another family has been killed on a cruel way. Abigail visits Hannibal at home. Hannibal cooks for Abigail. Chris got arrested. Nice Episode of Hannibal Season 1, such a good follow-up. But not so exciting as the first three Episodes! Mads Mikkelsen is still a bit on the background i think, the real beast had to be unleashed!
